  1. Yeah those days are usually seniority. There's a person here with Friday/Saturday that got hired in November so it can happen but after that person the next person with those days off has 3 years. Saturday/Sunday 5 years. Sunday/Monday and Thursday/Friday are usually available. And yeah our days off are consecutive
  2. You'll be alright wont get bumped out depending on what days off you get you'll be safe .
  3. Yeah especially overnight we all have a good time working with eachother. We got a good group of people.
  4. One of the best atmospheres I've worked in. All the guys and girls here are awesome and we all get along, we're like family once you get to know us.
  5. If everything is good your basically hired ! Congratulations. This is the last step before your start date. they probably didn't mention the bump in pay since we won't get it till September.
  6. Yup they just gave us another raise. so the new rates are effective September I believe.
  7. We still get paid pretty generous for what we do. Current top pay for regular terminal appearance is 34.45 and for operator the rate is 36.19 (operator is garbage truck, power washing, recycling, anything that involves driving a utility vehicle around the terminal)
  8. No currently our union doesn't offer night differential, I've heard talks about implementing it when contract negotiations come up.
  9. Most of the new people come straight to overnights
  10. They won't tell you if you got in or not but those who make it all the way to the interview usually are hired.
  11. Current MNR employee, when I did my medical for my position in 2019 you couldn't be over 140 I forgot the 2nd number but yeah, bananas, cinnamon, beets all help lower your blood pressure try and eat some of those prior to your appointment I drank a lot of beet juice.
  12. I believe they do credit checks for conductors only from what I know. I'm not sure about the job terminations but if you put it down and try not to hide it I don't see why they wouldn't hire you. Make sure your resumes matches the job description, look for some keywords and try to include them if the advertisment for the job goes up again which I'm sure it will.
  13. Because of the east side access they added alot of jobs, 15+ open jobs at the moment for terminal appearance.
  14. I can ask around, coach cleaner ad is up right now so apply to that also if you want.
  15. Anything related to the city you have to make sure it's paid off. So any city tickets must be paid.
  16. I think it definitely did change to passed pre-screening at one point I just can't recall when. Yup I'll have 3 years, it's been great so far I honestly can't complain the work isn't hard, you can move to alot of different jobs within our union which is TCU, the pay for the work we do is very generous and we are out of a contract as of June 2021 so we should be getting another raise soon, the overtime goes by seniority but it's definitely there if you want it some guys work 40hours+ of overtime every week. It's a great job to get your foot in or even do your 30 years at metro north.
  17. I myself don't have a degree and some of my other coworkers I'm really close to also don't have, but I definitely know a few who have degrees.
  18. I applied back around September in 2018 and got an email for the test in November.
  19. Yup 1 year in your current craft to move to another. I believe conductor and engineer they want atleast 2 years so they have 2 years worth of attendance to look at before allowing you to switch over because they just don't take anyone so having a really good attendance and no write ups or disciplinary action on your record will help you alot. But I think other crafts it's just 1 year like track and stuff like that.
  20. Yes for terminal appearance, we do have alot of open positions overnight. Because of COVID I'm not sure how many they allow for testing at once, but back when I tested in 2018 there was about 15 of us in a room.
  21. We got 2 new hires that just started on Friday. Keep on the lookout might be hiring more soon.
  22. I would probably leave it alone unless your changing your resume and stuff.
