I know many who resigned and came back. I don't know anyone who's gone through what I described above.

When you resign it seems like you show up in DCAS as still having a pending appointment. Someone ar DCAS will have to update their system. Go there if calling and emailing don’t work. So ethung similar happened to me.

Another word of advice that I haven’t seen anyone else talk about is you shouldn’t go into the medical appointment with sugary drinks in your system, because they’re going to take an A1C reading from your urine and it cannot be over a certain threshold. Some people drank a 32 oz bottle of orange juice with their breakfast, or had a donut while waiting to be seen by the doctor, and urinated straight sugar into the cup even though they didn’t have diabetes or anything really wrong with them. This caused at least 5 people to be put on medical hold.
Luckily I inadvertently came in 20 hours fasted and didn’t have any sugar 48 hours before, up until that point and all I had was an unsweetened tea that morning, so My A1C was about 5. The Nurse instantly told me it was excellent reading after the test strip was taken away from the cup.
also I wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee that morning, and keeping your mind away from anything stressful as it will speed your heart rate, and you’re gonna have your blood pressure and an EKG taken.

The A1C is a blood test. Are they drawing blood or just having people pee in a cup? If you have elevated sugar in your urine you may have uncontrolled diabetes that’s why people are getting jammed up.

Well, if you dont get called by the time the test expires, theres no list to get your name restored to. once it expires, thats basically it

This list will not expire until there is a new list. Either a promotional list or Open Competitive. The list won't expire for at least another year. Probably more.

The last certification was in May. I had an extremely low number and was not called. I was recertified to the list after being canned during probation.

Were you not called because you were previously fired? What did they fire you for?

Im sorry to say but I dont think theyre gonna restore that list again, considering they already have this year and there arent any classes (Yet) planned for next year

There’s a lot of misinformation in this thread. Don’t give up hope.

There is a difference between restoring your name to the list and being on a recertified list. This confused me at first. After you restore your name to the list you have to wait for DCAS to send a recertified list to Transit. They do that when Transit requests a newly recertified list.

Transit usually requests a newly-certified list periodically. When they next request the newly-certified list you’ll be called first. That’s a good thing because you’ll probably get to pick the division you want in school car.

Even if this list will expire soon that doesnt mean you won’t be called. It takes the better part if a year for them to establish a new list and during that time they will call people from this list. Don’t give up hope. You’ll get in.

Hey guys, my neck is under 17 inches, but my BMI is at 38.
Do they automatically make you take the sleep apnea with anything over 35 BMI? or is there still a chance I would be able to pass the medical without them putting me on hold to get a sleep study done?

I think it’s BMI and neck size not either or. If your BMI is too high and your neck size is above 17 a sleep study is requested. Don’t sweat it.

Did anyone else get an email about April 10th’s orientation being at 2125 w 13th street instead of the location at montague street?

Yes. I got that as well. We can expect some no-shows on Monday because they missed that email.

  8. I have two questions. Any help will be appreciated:

    - Has anyone lived in upper Manhattan and worked in the B Division? Did they attempt to keep you close to home while you were XX? Was it difficult? I'm asking because I'd prefer to pick the B Division next week.

    - Do conductors in the B Division usually get to pick a job faster than conductors in the A Division. There are more lines in the B and thus more conductors but that may not mean seniority moves more quickly in the B than the A. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks.

hello everyone , my name is Hakeem. this forum is very helpful with the information on here. On November 30th i received a text message and letter to my home to go to pre-employment December 5 2022. i completed the pre-employment . December 27th i was sent a email to go to 180 livingston on December 29th for the final phase of the process to be considered for the January 9th class. this email was sent to my spam mail and i didn't see it until march. how i ended up finding this email was because the drug screening is good for 90 days. as it was coming up to the 90 days i said to my self to skim through my emails to see if they reached out to me . & that's how i found it .within the 90 days i was constantly checking my mailbox at home to see if a letter was sent to my house. No letter sent to my house & no text message as i was reached out to for the drug screening. This scenario was baffling to me. i Reached out to the sender of the email who then forward me to email DCAS to have my name Restored to the list. my list number is 70xx & i am now restored to the list via to what a Automated system say. its quite difficult to speak to A person directly on these situations . i believe i would need to take the drug screening over because it past 90 days. it feel like I'm in a state of limbo & need clarity to at least Speak to a direct representative.  this number 3476437413 does not work. is their anyone who experience something similar ? being restored back to the list ? what is the process ? how long after being restored were you in contact with a MTA Representative?

I think you will have to wait until the list is certified again Hakeem. Transit receives a list of eligible candidates and because you missed the medical you were removed from the list. Now that you’ve restored your name to the list you have to wait for them to request a new list which will include your name. It took a year for that process to happen recently. Hope it doesn’t take that long for you.

    1. Your list/seniority number determines your place in line to pick division, and in the future jobs. Keep in mind, you may be XX for several years as many have been hired ahead of you at this point.

    2. Pick the division that better suits your commute. You will find you will value the free time you have available over anything else.

    3. Night differential is a buck and change.

    4. Difficult in what way? If anything many that do come out prefer the midnight as it's less stressful during the day.

    - Your list number can't be the sole determining factor in picking jobs since some people defer and will have a higher list number but less time on the job.

    - Difficult in that many people are trying to work the midnight shift.

    Thanks.

  11. A few questions. I’ll be in the April 10th class. Thanks in advance.

    - When picking jobs after school car or picking divisions in school car does the date you were sworn in take precedence.

    - Which division has greater turnover A or B. Will one allow you to pick a job faster.

    - How much is night differential?
    - if you want to work midnights after school car will that be difficult.

    Thanks.

Hey what are they checking for during medical just got called for pre employment and I’m not interested in having any more hiccups in this process.

Hey what are they checking for during medical just got called for pre employment and I’m not interested in having any more hiccups in this process.

    First:

    - You will go to a computer and fill out a medical survey

    Then, you will:

    - Be weighed- clothes and shoes on.

    - Height measured - shoes on.

    - Urine test- to see if you have sugar in your urine.

    - Blood pressure check - I assume it must be below 140/90

    - Hearing- Sit in a booth and listen for sounds

    - Vision- Look into a device

-Heart Check- Nodes attached to you chest while a machine records.

Last, you will dee a doctor. He/she will:

    - Wrap a tape measure around your neck- must be under 17 for men. If your BMI is over 35 and your neck is bigger than 17 you'll have to do a sleep study.

    - Ask you to touch your toes.

    - Check your teeth.

    - Go over the medical survey you filled out.

If the doctor says you're okay. You go down the hall and are sworn in and receive your rulebook. Hope this helps.

My letter said, being considered for April 10th on my conditional offer....Maybe 2 classes being considered?

April 2 is a Sunday. Who said there is a class starting on Sunday April 2nd? Maybe there is only one class starting on April 10th- a Monday.

34XX. Should've been employed back in 2021, but got a big ass neck :( and got placed on med hold cuz of sleep apnea and did not come off it until 2022. And did not make the cutoff(by a week) when they recertified the list. Been close to a decade wait for me, so hopefully my family and I have the happy ending we deserve to have.

So I am also on the recently certified list and I have a higher list number than you but you were called before me for preemployment and have already received a conditional offer. Maybe they call the people who were on medical hold first. That seems fair. Which date is your medical scheduled for?

What did you do so far? With that list number you should have been working for MTA by now

Stop creating hysteria. He doesn't need to do anything. They are calling people from the newly certified list. If you check the list you will see that a person with a score of 30** is behind 30 or more people. Just wait. They'll get to you.

Was just told that April 2 will be the last conductor class of 50 students for 6601. So if you don't get called for that class, start prepping to take the next exam coming out in june

Highly unlikely. It takes well over a year to establish a new list. There will many more classes from 6601.

If you were to look at this webpage, the last certification from DCAS (Dept. of Citywide Administrative Services) for the titles of Bus Operator, Conductor and Track Worker was back on August 10th, 2022. In addition, if you look at this page, there was a TA Bus Operator class in December of 2022. Therefore, if I had to take an educated guess, the answer is no.

With that said, is anyone interesting in complaining about this? If so, send me a Private Message (PM) and we will take it from there.

    Happy Holidays!!

Sorry. The page you're referencing seems to contradict your answer. Did you read the info carefully? According to the webpage you referenced the last certification for Conductor was April 4th 2022.

There is only so many hours in the day.  Class starts at 7 so I wake at 4 to leave by 5. Class ends at 3. I'm home by 530 shower and make food which takes about 2 hours until 730. One hour and a half for hw until 830. I study for the next 3 hours until bed at 12. I understand what the TSS are saying remembering everything is the problem.

Its a moot point now. I have to be out for a week next month to take care of a family member who's getting a medical procedure so I have to resign. Would I be eligible to put my name back on the list?

Yes. You can put your name back on the list. They will make a decision about whether you can be rehired. Make sure you hand in all the tools and equipment. They may choose not to rehire you but if you were keeping up with the class and had no disciplinary issues they should give you one more chance. BTDT. Don't beat yourself up.
