    Good morning,

I would like to know when was the last time this list was certified from dcas, it says the last time they reached out to dcas for a list was in March.

I think the last certification was March. Several people added themselves back to the list but haven’t been called for this reason. Maybe it’ll happen this month.

Hi, has anyone failed to give enough urine. If so, what was next for you?

I just went in for pre employment today

did the paperwork, just couldn’t get the urine done. They said to wait on a call.

    list number 64**
    OPA exam 5/21

    pre employment 9/22 (today)

I think you have to go see a doctor if you couldn't produce enough urine for the test. It doesn't seem to be something you can just come back in and do. They instruct you to drink water and wait. If you couldn't produce a urine sample it seems a doctor has to certify that you have a medical condition which prevents you from producing sufficient urine. They should have let you drink water and try again. But maybe I'm wrong. Why didn't you drink a lot of water before the test?

If you looked in the past couple pages, you would've saw that someone who was 63XX was just hired a few days ago.

I know someone who restored his name back in May. Another person here restored their name back in April. Right now it's a waiting game to see when Transit will request a new certified list to bring them back.

Are you saying the person restored in May hasn't been called for another drug test yet? How often does transit request a certified list? Guess it'll be a long wait.

Not everything Transit wants you to do is something you should do. Printing over 300 pages on your own dime is unreasonable and in the end not an official copy of the rulebook. This is Transit, they can provide a copy.

This sounds right. I think you're required to have a physical copy of the rulebook in school car so they'll give you one.

Good morning everyone. I have a quick question and I believe it was stated before but I’m not sure. I went in for medical 9/12 to be placed in the Oct 3rd class. I passed everything but they stated because of my BMI and neck size being a half inch more than standard I needed to do a sleep study.  Needless to say I got everything done quickly as possible to get the test results. I contacted the email they gave me. what is the likely chance I would still be able to get into the oct class?? Or should I just have my mind set to be called back in for future classes.  Thank you for reading this.

Call them. If you're clear and there's space they will add you to the Oct class. Some people get into the class just before it starts.

Hi I recently applied for a conductor position. I have a few questions. First I keep heating about medical hold. I already know I have high blood pressure and are taking meds for it. Should I go to my Dr before I go for medical to have a clearance letter handy? Are there any strict rules about tattoos? Will they still be testing for Marijuana even though it's legal in nyc now? And if so will a medical prescription be accepted?

    - You should get a clearance letter before you go to the medical. It will make everything easier.

    - There are no rules about tattoos.

    - They will be testing for marijuana. Even though it's legal this title will not allow you to use it or have it in your system. You will be disqualified.

    - A medical prescription will not be accepted. It won't make any difference.

  7. Did the drug test today. It wasn't too bad. Not many conductors were there, lots of Bus Operators and some Train Operators. In by about 7, out by about 10. They staggered the arrival times so there wasn't as much waiting around in line.

I asked about the September class date but no one seems to know. It'll probably be late September so I suppose I'll get called for the medical two weeks from now.

There's a difference while you using bible quotes here, let me know any incident where someone let someone unauthorized operate a train.

Its apparent you don't know the ramifications behind this you get hired you'll find out.

I'm well aware of the ramifications. He made a mistake and will have to pay the price. I'm simply saying don't judge him. We've all had lapses in judgement but most of our mistakes haven't been broadcast to the world.

Hey, does anyone know if they’ve extended this list? I read somewhere that said it’s supposed to expire February 2022. I’m list #33** so I feel I’m pretty close, but February might be too close, lol, fingers crossed it got extended and if not eventually does.

This list will be extended. Maybe even for two years. There is no way they are going to have exams and create a new list in the middle of a pandemic. You're more than fine.

Only by a hair on the blood pressure did I pass medical so I'm in for the class on the 30th. Got a long commute to do each day coming from Jersey but I knew that coming in to it. Now I just have to constantly stress out about passing the training. lol

What does your blood pressure have to be under?

I was in ketosis, and 18 hours fasting during my medical. They  were using multi stix, but the nurse didn’t say anything about ketones.   Btw, IF and Keto have allowed me to lose 50 pounds since January 2021

Congrats on the weight loss. That's impressive!

  12. 4 hours ago, dee-bees said:

Yeah I basically do all my keto stuff with homecooking. The pre-made stuff is just too much.

And I just got the email to go in for medical this Thursday to be considered for the Aug 30th class. And of course the nervousness of that and the paperwork is making my blood pressure spike like I'm sure it will be in the waiting room that day. I'm debating breaking keto and picking up some bananas and other foods that are supposed to help with blood pressure just for these next few days.

Eat high potassium foods for the next few days, or, take a little potassium and magnesium if you can. Cut the sugar (bananas) and salt if you can, they make you retain water. Drink as much water as you can up to two days day before the medical and then drink as little as you can on the day before the medical. That way on the morning of the medical you won't be carrying a lot of water. The water really makes my pressure shoot up. Breathe from your stomach while you're there and especially when they take your blood pressure.

Good luck. The worse that will happen is they'll have you lay down in a dark room for a little while and then test you again. You'll be fine.

Hey guys, I've got a hopefully quick question. I was just wondering what exactly are they measuring in the urine test for diabetes during the medical? I was googling just in case I get the notice for medical this week and saw that sometimes they look for ketones which signals stuff with insulin potentially or they measure actual blood sugar levels. I've been following the keto diet for a while and would hate to get false flagged due to the ketones which come with the diet and delayed on starting.

I'm almost certain they are not testing for ketones. I did the medical before and it seemed like a sugar test. Uncontrolled diabetes means sugar in the urine. I was in a state of ketosis when I did the medical and I passed. How's the keto diet working for you?

My neck was 16.5 and my ekg was “excellent”  I’m on hold and have to get a sleep study

There is a lot of misinformation on this forum regarding the medical exam. In an earlier post I think you said you had high blood pressure controlled by medication. If that is correct then the reason you were placed on hold is a BMI over 35 and hypertension.

    - If you have a BMI over 35 and a neck size over 17 you have to do the sleep study.

    - If you have a BMI over 35 and hypertension you have to do the sleep study as well.

There are people who passed the medical with high BMI's. There are people who passed with big necks. It seems to be the combination of conditions (BMI, hypertension, diabetes, neck size) that sets off red flags.

In simple medical language there is a connection between hypertension and sleep apnea. That's why the two conditions will cause them to make you take a sleep study. This is all justified because if you crash a train with sleep apnea there will be a lot of lawsuits.

Medical today took 6 hours. Passed all exams including neck size. But I have to get a sleep study due to my BMI being too high.

That sucks. Which level BMI causes you to need a sleep study? I always thought it was both BMI and neck size together.

Hey, has anyone in the high 2700s or low 2800s  receive an email or appointment for drug testing yet ?

No. But if the next class is in September we probably won't get it until August. I got a call a few weeks ago telling me to be on the lookout for next steps but nothing yet. Guess we'll just have t wait a little while longer.

    Thank you

I’m high 2700’s and got a call this morning telling me to watch my email. Perhaps they’re moving fairly quickly. I submitted paperwork a few weeks ago. Guess I’ll be called in for a drug test soon.
