  1. This is especially important this week. Super bowl and promotion test coming up 2/10 2/11. If you usually have Saturday or Sunday off you need to check because it might be rescheduled as a lot of conductors will be out.
  2. There's a "school car experience" thread floating around. Continue your story in there... It's nice to have them all in one place 😀
  3. The chart is floating around. Ask a union rep for it. I've seen it before the contract ratified.
  4. They really didn't care at all in my school car experience. You just had to carry your bag over the tracks if the straps weren't breakaway. There is a bag with one shoulder strap designed to break away in an emergency. One of my TSS had it. I never could find out where to buy one and he forgot the brand (wasn't marked).... But that's another option if it can be found.
  5. The infamous rookie bag.. So many people have that around the system because of this forum. Soon as I got off probation I ditched that bag lol. You guys can really get away with any standard high school book bag to start. I would recommend bringing in your old JanSport and buying something else if you decide it's not enough.
  6. They do weekends now in the regular schedule.... And some holidays you will work. I worked Labor Day.
  7. This is true - and don't be in a rush to buy everything they try to sell you at the union meeting. There will be reps there for disability insurance and life insurance and all kinds of things - not necessarily bad - but you may want to look at your paycheck before you buy into these. You can always do it later!!
  8. I don't see how you could qualify to work on a train you can't climb. That's a major safety issue.
  9. Yeah but was there an a division class? If there's no a division class happening then you got to be able to climb b division trains. They can't qualify you on a different division and not have a class to put you in.
  10. I could take a guess on who that is but I'll pass lol. Yes, there's at least one wayward guy in there.
  11. Depends on your definition of respect. I think the biggest disrespectful thing they do is waste your time.
  12. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you have a problem with what he said about short people, just wait until you deal with dispatchers everyday. School car has the best behaved supervisors. The real job? Not so much. Now that's not everybody, 80% of the people at least are decent to deal with. But the other 20%? Oh boy
  13. I was just trying not to get dragged into any drama. But I have records of who I called and when. So if they ever do ask me, I'll just tell them.
  14. 6 is a great number. I hover around 6.3-6.6. Do you have a endo? I know a PCP is perfectly capable of basic treatment but you really should have an endocrinologist as well. Best of luck to you! 🙏 Start walking 15 football field lengths everyday... It's about the same you'll do walking up and down platforms at transit. You'll get the number down fast, lol. I lost 33lbs in school car. @RTOManI think they forgot about me.. I was on medical hold less than 24 hours at pre-employment... Got hired... Got my form filled out again 6 months later, called the Mac... Four different Macs, six different people... Couldn't get an appointment. Nobody said I needed one. I don't know 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
  15. 8.5 is high. I hope you can get that under control.. transit might not like that number. I'd go again for a test after fasting overnight, though it usually takes 3 months for this number to change substantially... Are you prescribed anything for your diabetes?
  16. I believe her pay grade is a bit less than conductors... For the amount of work she puts in, this woman is worth her weight in gold 🥇
  17. You stop the train and use the bathroom. Nothing else you can do. Of course, everyone in the system will know you did that because you had to call in the request for comfort over the radio... So you'll learn to go before you leave the house and before you leave the terminal, just like you were taught as a kid.
  18. I'm really not thrilled about it but I'm going to take the test. $24 an hour is tough to live on.
  19. They'll have a goal to meet for how many train operators they need. It might be likely if they get enough from promotional they'll cancel the OC.
  20. You'd be surprised how many people just let cash sit in a retirement account and never invest it.
  21. Are you in school? Ask your TSS. Or call The Union rep on duty. Or BSC.
  22. A folder would be useful too.. If you have one. If not, don't worry about it.
  23. This is casually correct. Let's not forget, though, there are some sticklers around here that will go as far as looking at the tag inside the toe of the boots. For probation period I don't think anybody should mess around with their uniform standards.
