  1. All facts, last day of class today, start yard posting tomorrow!!! It’s lit good luck to you and everyone else who started recently!!!
  2. Well gotta leave you something to look forward to lol. Nah but your days will vary depending on your TSS’s. Some might start you in classroom first. Some might go outside first, on the trains learning the equipment! Just bundle up cause you will be outdoors and ask questions, didn’t hear something, ask them to repeat it! Didn’t get their last statement, ask them to repeat it!
  3. Yeah, when you come in for school car you are signing in with a TSS and they have to deem you fit for duty. If they feel you aren’t you can be sent downtown! One of my TSS’s told me there have been previous situations where they have been T/Os given randoms in school car and failed. Like how you just passed a drug test to get the job and fail a drug test not even a year later. The TSS stated that’s a possibility for the multiple drug test before medical. Now I’m not saying this has happened in my induction class or any class from this list! I am speaking in regards to past groups.
  4. From my understanding, everyone in my class confirmed and I asked a few others from my induction class, you everyone will more than likely do more than 1 P/E. They had cases prior to people getting clean for the first test then coming back and failing a random! Yes you can be given a random while in school car! I asked a few TSS’s and they stated the classes are appointed based on the hiring number needed given to Ms. Vargas i.e. 200. The waiting period is a good chance to get all paperwork in order, so that when you walk in to the medical there isn’t any issues! Good luck to all those appointed!
  5. Yeah that’s one type of Kaka bag. For 130 Livingston it’s not mandatory to have the bag yet, you can if you want since the class is the 17th. Once they give you you’re tools it will help to have the bag because carrying them with the books in a duffle bag or similar is irritating! I tried that by getting the husky tool bag, that was a dub!
  6. LET’SSSSS GOOOOO!!!! Congrats man much deserved!!! If there's a way, feel free to DM me, got some info to help with class, if you’re in the B division lol. Again congrats, good luck you got this!!!
  7. Congrats and good luck! You can bring a backpack for the first week or two of orientation at PS 248. When you get your schedule and start going to the yards you have to have a bag that can be carried by hand, you aren’t allowed to cross tracks with a bag on your shoulders! So either a duffle or a “Kaka” bag, which has a handle on the side and the straps can be zipped up. Also a gray shirt lol, dark, light, doesn’t matter.
  8. You’re going to be all over the place! First week is at PS 248 then you get your schedule, you’re gonna be going to every yard weekly, getting familiar with dispatcher offices, towers etc. 7am-3pm on your road days you’ll start at 9am. Congrats and good luck.
  9. Try the wolverine type heard they are the most comfortable off the site.
  10. Gray shirt, navy blue pants/khakis, if you received your boots, wear them, if not, casual shoes, no sneakers.
  11. Congrats!!! You could honestly just read chapter 1 of the rule book, that's what your first quiz will be on. Honestly everything else will be school car stuff and you're gonna have time to get used to that. If you want, you can read the track components chapter in the induction manual (unit 4), it has a few pictures as well in there to get you familiar with them. (Unit 2 has definitions/terminology as well) Once you get out there it might be a bit of help, along with your LIRR knowledge depending on what position you held with them. Again congratulations and welcome!!
  12. They definitely didnt contact you yet if people who went for P/E in September didn’t get contacted yet! They have your email address you put down, the email normally comes 3-90 days doubt they told you 48-72 hours! Don’t get yourself worked up, keep track of the post on here to see what number they are up to, average induction classes have been 70, so you have an idea which class you might be in! Good luck and sit tight they’ll get to you before you know it!
  13. Yeah I thought you meant holding it, like you not supposed to get it, for a reason, but it’s just the week you’re coming in. I came in the week before and I got paid the next week, so I was confused when you said that. All good though.
  14. They do not hold your first check. The week starts on Sunday. If you start on the 26th, how could you be paid on the 29th? The week of the 26th will be your first week going towards your first check on December 13th.
  15. Yeah did all of that. If the dispatchers are cooperative in giving trains up to practice, it helps, if not you’ll be in the classroom or walking the yards.
  16. Honestly it depends on the induction class. I came in hell bent on going to A division cause everyone was in my ear (ppl who were not MTA lol) about oh the B division is harder and longer, more equipment to learn, etc. Soon as I got in and they mentioned starting in the Bronx or Manhattan a majority of school car (in the beginning you start 7am, 9am for road days) I was like nah I'm good lol. They mentioned it's more potential for OT in the B division and there's a lot more yards located near me, I went B division. I for sure thought I was just gonna be stuck with whatever but again when I got up there to pick, I got the options I got 95 I was number 51x when I was called for provisional. Listen that thing about it being harder isn't true, a train is a train, you learn how to operate one, you can operate them all. Signals, again with the exception of a few, they're pretty much the same in both division. That is your biggest worry is studying the signals and once you seen those enough, lol, they too will become second nature when identifying. Yeah my whole class passed. Not gonna lie everyone was stressing over it, man it was so much more smoother and quicker than anticipated! At that point, you either knew the material or you didn't! Was only having a real issue with track components being that we breezed through it and wasn't going over it that much in the beginning. Mid term next week, gotta get that 100 and have a good Thanksgiving lol.
  17. My induction class was 70, we had 4 B division classes and 3 A division, honestly I was called up maybe halfway through the class and I got the option, everyone always says oh A division is filled by the time you get to the bottom but I think everyone in my induction class picked. We were actually shocked it was more B division classes than A, cause everyone says A is easier but I’m glad I went B because I live in Brooklyn. The material is more but again you’re gonna get it if you put the time in to study!
  18. Good morning, they said it takes 48 hrs to update your name in the system, if it’s not by 3pm today just do it Monday, you have to have the boots by the time you go to school car, not orientation. You’ll be fine, the boots are shipped priority, they get to you super fast once ordered and your size is available. Again during orientation week, you can bring your book bag or duffle but keep in mind the books and tools you will be getting are super heavy and you have to have them everyday! Look on amazon for a “Kaka” backpack. It’s real good, it’s a backpack that can store the straps when crossing tracks. You’re not allowed to have anything on your shoulders when crossing tracks. It’s like $35-$50 depending on what type you get. That’s all out of your pocket, lol
  19. Listen you getting that email or call tomorrow the latest, I got my email Friday morning, classmate got a call Friday afternoon, positive vibes only!!!
  20. Nah bro don’t get bummed out, listen they really just move slow but you will get there!
  21. They do not care about violations. As long as your license is valid and you do not have any pending court dates you are fine!
  22. I got the Hytest ones, they are a bit heavy can’t lie, I would take a half size down, there are ones called wolverines, my classmate said those are comfortable.
  23. You see that’s ya problem, I see ya got something to say real quick without thinking before pressing “submit reply.” I can’t tell him how much because I have things coming out my check he may not have! Second, I can have 3 kids (dependents) he can have none, so his check will be significantly deffierent. Ya gotta chill with the slick comments again I’m simply tryna help, 🤦🏽‍♂️
  24. lol you said I’m wrong, but you didn’t state any facts to prove what exactly I was wrong about it my post, so I’m confused! Again you have a right to your opinion, as do I, which was stated in my post! I never said “as per MTA” in anything I stated. I can see you’re frustrated from the process, which I agree, got me like that as well, but you attacking someone on a forum, trying to take some tension off the stress, being that I went through it and got to the other side, I find that to be weird. Enjoy ya night...
