Continue to stay in them books cause when you go yard posting you’ll be evaluated by a TSS and depending on who you get it can be quick and smooth or a long process with a whole bunch of questions trying to trip you up! Door cut, trouble shooting, circuit breakers, all that!

I agree, you guys have to realize also, this test usually takes minimum four years to get called back for! Again this forum is very helpful for everyone, but posting the same upset comments isn't going to get you called back first hand! I myself went through this at first after thinking I was going to be called after doing my first P/E in May and then getting frustrated at my current job, I was fuming. What I did was stayed on here, calculated by the numbers and waited, I projected a September start and it happened. Now we all know about the hiring freeze, I was told that it really has to do with the amount of TSS's available for classes, not so much the freeze! They just don't have enough available for the amount of people being hired. Now I was told by a fellow T/O yesterday that a TSS told him the next class will be in May. I am not sure how accurate this is being that others have stated March, however this TSS has been with TA for 20 years and he was also the one who told us last year that TA wouldn't have an October class. Do remember these TSS's also have Conductor classes, I remember going for my first signal test and midterm and there was an induction class there for C/Os and well as one that came in the month before! Just be patient and know your time is coming!

Yes no news is good news. I took my first PE in May of 2018. I didn't get called back until Sept for the second PE and then days later they told me to come in for the medical to be considered for a class starting in 2 weeks! You're fine if you know you don't smoke or anything and your paperwork was accurate! They will contact you once they get up to your number!

I don’t think so, keep your options open especially with them slowing down on the T/O classes.

It’s 25 questions on the first one, 15 multiple choice, 10 written, second test is 15 questions all written! I’m assuming the reason you can’t get one wrong is because if you get into in accident that involves a signal you can’t say you didn’t know what it meant or if you got it wrong and they keep that in record they’ll be liable for you if someone gets hurt.

That depends on which test! You’re given daily quizzes, these are like temperature checks for the TSS’s to see how well you’re retaining the information and studying! Then the test that you have to get 80s on, those are a compilation of stuff and I’ve seen people fail one of those and still here! Now the signal exam, yes you must get a 100% on that one. Again it sounds crazy but the first test is super easy lol if you’ve been putting in the time with your signals it’s a breeze! The biggest thing is to thoroughly read the question, don’t just try and answer it right away! The wording is twisted sometimes to trip you up! As my TSS used to say “don’t drink the kool-aid!”

Congrats YX is a breeze, at first you just gotta remember where to sign in at lol, I swear I was texting my group chat the first week everyday before a shift in queens, like where the dispatcher’s office or tower at again? lol but for real, stay away from the crew room lawyers and watch ya stuff, it’s some real thieves down here!

They haven’t approved any classes after the January 28th class. I spoke to a T/O and he said a TSS told him that they are slowing down because they just don’t have enough TSS’s to cover the amount of people they’re hiring, these same TSS’s also have conductor classes! Remember they went from last May all the way to the end of the year with a class every month except for October if I’m not mistaken! I myself went through multiple drug test, so don’t worry if yours expires, most have during their process. Just be patient when they start back up and they get to you they will!

Yeah that’s a big fact!!! If you’re late 3 times during school car you will be fired! This goes into YX and after as well! Listen if you’re late and it’s because of MTA take down the bus or train information!!! During YX and yard posting, have the dispatcher numbers saved already and call them ahead of time, more than likely they will just let it slide! I was on the way to Jamaica and called them to let them know the F had me late because of a sick customer, when I got there, I had the information ready, dispatcher was like just sign in man you’re good, you call me already! Didn’t verify nothing! Just be ready! Oh and that cellphone SMH don’t do it, they are super sticklers about it and can get you fired for it!

I started in the September 24th class, first day of yard posting was December 12th.

When you go yard posting you will have to post on each tour AM, PM, & Midnight. After that is a week of yard familiarization with a TSS and that will be 0600-1400. One day is a 0700 start I believe. Then you get released to the crew office for YX.

It’s not that bad, you just have to put in the time, trust if you’re not retaining the information at all the TSS’s will definitely pick that up, they will address you whether it be one on one or during group activities! I seen it first hand! Again if this is what you want you will get it done, I can’t imagine them investing all this paid training, uniforms just to try and fail you!

Yeah your best bet is to be patient! Not sure if this is your first MTA year, but they normally take 4/5+ years to call ppl back! We were really lucky to hear back from them so quick! I for one thought I was gonna be in the first class, did my drug test, all that, then BOOM, nothing! I just stayed in here hoping and praying for that call or email. You can’t do anything, this is how they operate, I hated my job at the time and I was being looked at weird cause the days I was taking off, but I knew it was gonna pay off so I just said f it. Again this isn’t a sprint, patience is key, as someone mentioned on here before you need a lot of that working down here! It’s coming just gotta wait and I’m glad you still got your job, others are not so lucky.

Oh ok gotcha, yeah I heard that about Khan lmao. He hates for the students to know that he's a new TSS lol. Whenever he's paired with a Vet he get tight if they mention it! Ok cool, as the days go by it gets easier trust lol. I haven't heard anything in regards to the freeze, but from speaking to Vets, with the retirement of T/O's and even TSS's this yea , that on top of the shortage of T/O's they had already, they need bodies! So I'm not sure if that freeze really is in regards to RTO. I would stay in touch with 180 Livingston.

LoL not sure if you are in Jay-Oh's class, but if you are and that's dudes name, yeah he's cool, I have only met him a couple times, but each time he's been very helpful and informative!

South bound, I think ya had a school car train behind ya as well, but conductors if I'm not mistaken. I saw someone at that position pull the window down and point to the board. The first train (your class) was deep in the last car lol.

I agree to an extent. I have always been grateful for all the information given during my waiting process! Which is why I always reciprocate the information in areas I can help. Honestly if you take offense to every little thing, MTA is not for you, because this place requires thick skin. I do feel like the signal questions and other school car questions isn't necessarily for this thread but, if placed here, it isn't wrong to correct someone who is not providing proper information!

lol yeah but still wouldn’t go and bomb the simulator because then the TSS’s there gonna tell your TSS’s and ya all gonna look bad, like wth is this person doing! With the simulator you just gotta really read the question and answers 2/3 times then you be like ohhhh, they tryna get me lol.
