  1. I don't know if anyone would know but do they usually notify all those who passed at the same time/same day? They already notified @LIRRrailfan, I'm just here biting my nails, I was pretty sure I aced it, but you never know until its official....
  2. @Iwetoddit I know exactly how you feel, that's a scary fast response time. Hoping my call is coming soon.
  3. @LIRRrailfan congrats, that was really fast. Hopefully I'm right there with you in phase 1.
  4. @Iwetoddit I was the one up front at the table on the right sitting alone. I feel like I aced it but will not get ahead of myself until I find out officially. I was wondering where that girl heard that glossary statement from, because he definitely didn't say that at the overview like she stated. I don't know if you saw but one guy left in the middle of the signal portion, I heard him tell the instructor that it was alot of signals to remember and he forgot a few, so he'll just try again in a year. I thought I would have been nervous but I was 100% calm throughout, which was surprsing.
  5. Just finished taking the s&d exam, feeling good about it. 24 people no showed off the bat from the beginning which is nuts. @Iwetoddit how do you feel about it? I was the person directly up front at the first table, I was trying to guess who you were lol. Hopefully we get our results fairly quickly and start continuing to move through the process.
  6. @Iwetoddit I'm absolutely ready to tackle this exam asap. At first I was very nervous based on the amount of information we had to know in 5 weeks, but like you said the brain is an amazing muscle, I know everything at this point and just review everyday after work for a few hours to retain it all. I must admit that I seriously surprised myself. I studied everyday for anywhere from 4 hours to somedays 8 hours, and its weird because it does not feel like tedious work, I actually look forward to going home to study everyday (go figure). Retaining the information definitely got easier as time went on. I'm just ready to take this exam already, what I'm actually kind of worried about is going into the exam overconfident and making a stupid mistake, I have to make sure that I go over the exam multiple times before turning it in.
  7. @Iwetoddit hows the studying going? Have you been able to retain all the information effectively? What did you find to be the hardest part to commit to memory? @Steven trejo me and iwetoddit have our s&d exam this Saturday, if all goes well you very well may see us in your phase 1 class. I'm assuming that they may not have enough qualified candidates to fill the next phase 1 class (I definitely could be wrong) so they may be waiting for the outcome of Saturday's class. I wish everybody luck on the upcoming test, let's all just give them what they want , which is qualified engineers. They practically begged our overview class to take this opportunity extremely seriously, I agree, as this is a very rare opportunity and i plan to take full advantage of it. They briefly mentioned how people would show up after basically not studying, which totally blew my mind, to crap away such an opportunity, I just don't get it.
  8. People seem to disqualify themselves pretty regularly which works in the favor of those who really want it. There were supposed to be 64 candidates for yesterday's overview but only 50-55 showed up. It surely is alot of information to digest but definitely can be done. I'm just blessed to have made it this far in the process and dont plan on messing it up now. I'm gunning for a perfect score on the 6/8 s&d exam. All of the engineers seem to love the job, especially after they've qualified. General consensus is that the training portion is grueling and sucks heavily. I'm just looking at the light at the end of the training tunnel so to speak.
  9. All i recieved was an email invitation to the s&d, is there supposed to be an invitation as well? All that was attached in the email was a train schedule.
  10. Thanks Steven and dre for the responses, also is there a specific place to go or special entrance we must use once we get there?
  11. Are any of you guys familiar with the hillside facility? Is there a parking lot that we can use? If not is parking available around the area?
  12. How did the vets find was the easiest way to memorize the signals? Do they just show you a picture of a signal and you have to write in the name and indication? Or is It set up as a multiple choice type thing? I'm thinking the signals will be harder to memorize than the definitions.
  13. Is it possible you can have the wedding at one of the train facilities? Lol just kidding man, it definitely would be rough from what I've gathered about the schedule.
  14. This question may be off topic but how are restroom situations handled with engineers? I know there is a strict schedule to adhere to, so I'm just curious.
  15. Wow, definitely didn't know about the blacklisted part, that's good to know, more inspiration to keep chopping away. Thank you for the insight drenyce.
  16. Just recieved my s&d invitation Iwetoddit, it's for may 4 at the hillside station. You should be seeing one soon as well. Hopefully I'll see you there. I'm just glad I'm given this almost once in a lifetime opportunity.
  17. Thank you very much for the clarification drenyce. I've read through this thread a few times and love to see the progress you've made over the years from open house to now. Is this career what you hoped for before making it? Would you go through this process again if you had to? I'm pretty sure there is a strong sense of pride when wearing the "green card " knowing all you've done to get this far.
  18. My open house was 4/9, so I'm assuming it may be another month or so before my s&d overview.
  19. Can you keep me posted Iwetoddit on when you hear anything else from them regarding a background check or s&d invitation, I'll definitely do the same
  20. I attended the open house back on 4/9. One of the most anxious days I've had in recent memory as they called out the names who didn't pass. Thankfully I was blessed to have moved on to the next step in the process. Next is a call for the s&d overview which I'm hoping is coming soon.I really felt bad for those sent home this early, as this is the only part I consider to be a toss up because you really didn't know what to expect on those tests, every test from now forward is up to you and how bad you want it. I know I will be one of the fifteen they choose for phase one, that's just how bad I want it. Hope to see some of you there.
  21. I too Will be attending the 4/9 open house in Babylon. This thread has been an enormous help in what's to be expected. Good luck to everyone going through the process of being an engineer.
