Phase one is 9/18 correction.

Thanks alot @drenyce311, hoping to work with you in the near future God willing. Question though, I was told that phase 1 starts on the 19th, but when I checked my calendar that's a Thursday. Could they have made a mistake? I was under the impression that it's on Wednesday and Saturdays. Does anyone know the address for the medical building in mineola by any chance? I didn't receive an email with it.

I was able to choose a date, I just picked tomorrow because I would like to do it asap and get it done.

That time is upon us guys!!!!! Just recieved my invitation into phase 1, medical tomorrow morning...... I'm so very relieved I can't even put it into words......phase one beginning 9/19....

@Steven trejo I was just wondering, how many people were in your s&d test back in may, and out of that how many passed the test? I'm curious how many people from your s&d test group are waiting to be placed into phase one.

@Steven trejo same here brother, studying every day to keep the information fresh. You're absolutely right about a positive attitude going a long way. I just look at it this way, enjoy my free time now because once they call me its laser focus and grind mode for the foreseeable future.. @Iwetoddit how have you been holding up? Anxiously awaiting a call or email like I am? The timeframe for when they anticipate the next phase one class is creeping up on us, hopefully we can all see each other in class.

@Jsunflyguy are you referring to the phase 2 classes? I wonder why the change?

@drenyce311 have you heard an approximate date for the next phase one class? Does it usually start towards the beginning or end of September?

@MistaFISH congrats. I can't imagine how you must feel, finally getting that "green card". Who knows, you very well may be a mentor of mine later down the road hopefully once I get to that piont. Was phase 2's on the job training more to your liking over strictly classroom training?

Their need for engineers seems to be dire, I could be wrong but maybe the soon to be complete east side access has alot to do with it??

All you have to know for the signals portion is the name (aspect) of the signals. The indications are on a separate part of the test where they give you the name of the signal and you will have to know what the indication is. Good luck and study very hard....

@Iwetoddit good stuff brother, one of the hardest parts of this whole process is waiting patiently lol. I was told the same thing about the next phase one class beginning sometime in the end of August to somewhere in September. Hopefully I will see you in phase one soon. By the way keep reviewing all definitions, signals and indications as if they are going to call you tomorrow, the worst thing that can happen is to forget all that information we worked so hard to learn....keep me posted and I'll do the same.....

I've been lurking in this thread for a few weeks now, I've read through everything from page 1. I'm curious because I'm in a similar position trying to become a train operator under the MTA umbrella, just the lirr and not the subway system. Both of the training regimens are grueling from what I gather. I recently had to take a signals and definitions exam where I had to know 126 signals 100% and 75 definitions verbatim where they randomly picked 20. Its a ton of information we have to learn in a relatively short time period, but its definitely doable. If you want it bad enough you will absolutely find a way to make it, I definitely want it and will do whatever it takes, very good information in this thread for me to make parallels and comparisons. For the most part training is very similar and a tough road.

Panel interview was yesterday morning. I was just a bit nervous but they do a great job at making you feel comfortable. I think it went well. A small writing portion and some rules and regulations to look over before the interview. Now the wait for phase one begins....

Just a heads up for the signals, keep a sharp eye out for any signal that has the word "approach" in it, it was said at the overview that's where alot of the failures happen, they are all so similar it tends to trip people up.

@Iwetoddit told you brother, one step closer for us.....congratulations..I know exactly how you feel....we started in an open house with 130 people down to 3 me you and @LIRRrailfan. The real studying and work begins now....see you in phase 1 God willing.

@Iwetoddit once you get a call that's what matters, you can sleep well knowing that you passed. They will not call you for any other reason.

Just got my call from H.R. that I passed my s&d.... panel interview next week Thursday. My blood pressure is back to normal now... a huge thanks to everyone who helped me out with their responses and putting up with my impatience...

@LIRRrailfan thanks for the response. I'm wondering if they contacted all who passed already in the same day or they have a process for contacting them. I'm assuming H.R. did mention anything to you about others who passed? I'm going nuts over here lol.

@drenyce311 could it be possible that @LIRRrailfan may have been from an earlier open house than my 4/6 open house? Thus allowing him to get called in first? I'm being patient but just wondering why they would let one person know they passed and not let the others who passed know as well? I'm almost certain that I got a perfect score and now I may be worrying for no reason, it was only 3 days ago but I'm just trying to use logic at this point. Thanks for your time.
