Just a quick question, will Brooklyn see Nova equipment in the next few months or years?

Outside of the handful of LFSA artics at Flatbush depot, probably not. It seems as though the LFS/LFSA is the modern equivalent to the former Orion V and D60HF fleets. Notice how most of those buses are running in former Orion V and New Flyer D60HF areas.

Well, I mean, they didn't always allow for front door boarding throughout the whole ordeal.... But as far as why they decided to lift the backdoor only boarding rule before the MTA, I'd also guess it's due to NICEbus/Nassau county not being able to afford (figuratively & literally) going on with it for as long as the MTA is.... I'm a little surprised they didn't do away with backdoor only boarding sooner, to be honest.....

But now the MTA is paying for it.

The cars that moved are getting some kind of modifications

That's good, hopefully all the premature teething issues on these subway cars will come to an end. When the R211's start arriving next year to replace the R46s, hopefully the MTA can keep 200-300 cars on the side as back trains just in case. Why don't we have a subway car reserve system like we (barely) do the buses?

I can agree with this, especially since I used to go to NCC back in 2018 and 2019. However, i have seen some Artic's training around campus multiple times. It may not mean that NICE could Articulate the n16x, but judging from this, we know that they can drive around campus at ease.

I'm surprised they haven't gotten more artics yet.

  5. If MTA Long Island bus never became Nassau Inter-county Express, what service changes do you guys think would have been made of cancelled? Would the N20 ever gotten split?  Would the N22A ever would have been eliminated? How about the bus system's infrastructure? Would Rockville Center Depot still close down eventually, thus ending the career of most of the remaining Orion Vs at the time on Long Island? Let's discuss!

Cause they were replaced by diesel Novas & New Flyers that was proven reliable for NYCT service so there was no need to do that.

WMATA in D.C. had saved many of their 2000 Orion 5.501s for a rainy day and they apparently had several. Had to remove their XN40s and NABI BRT 42 hybrids from service for a period of time.

That's actually one of my gripes with the website; it's as if they don't know what files they have on the server.... They should go about deleting every single schedule they currently have on their servers, and then commence uploading the most updated schedule for every route.

So, what's the lifespan on the tanks of the Orion VII NG CNG fleet anyway? I assume that the EPA10 CNGs are about 18 years or so, but what about the NGs?

I'd say, at best, service on the Q5/85 Green Acres branches would remain as they currently are, for the very sentiment/reason you're conveying that more service be added to it....

Putting that another way, with whatever service cuts that could be on the way (due to this crisis or whatever), I don't see the Q5/85 being exempt from that....

    LMAO!

I wouldn't quite go that far with the point, but something that RFM is, is becoming more of an unsold car graveyard.... Not necessarily a slight on the quality of the mall/shopping experience, but there's just way too much parking for it (3 or 4 vast multilevel parking garages + the acreage that street level parking encompasses) - and this is with including the influx of people that ended up flocking to it, due to the death of The Source & the falling off of Sunrise, Green Acres, and Broadway malls....

Green Acres though IMO, even though it's been revamped, is in the same category as Sunrise - shells of their former selves.

I was reading an article about how the MTA might scrap some capital projects and one of them pertained to a potential 650 bus order being canned. Does anyone know what order that is? It said it included 75 electric buses and 23 express coaches ( 2021 Prevost X3-45 expansion order to take of the X23 and X24?)? Could this crisis also delay the 100% electric bus fleet conversion by 2040?

FYI, 4369 and others were delivered new to KB (4330-4407). A few of their buses are in summer storage, but still can be used when needed.

So, why didn't the MTA keep a few 1998-1999 Novabus RTS's in storage in case of emergencies with the newer bus fleet like the electric buses? They could have kept like 40-60 of the best ones?
