The mental punishment people have to go through when waiting for results or lists to be released… they are so slow.
get used to it

Nah nothing like that at all. Do you take that before the official list is made?
yeah so the OPA would be the next step before the list is established, which probably wont happen for at least another year

Thanks for the well wishes. Would you know how the next steps will go? This is my first time doing one of these tests
idk if they changed the procedure from my time when I took it, but you didnt happen to take something called an OPA (Oral proficiency assessment) yet right?

Well, they did put me in one of the first sessions so perhaps things will go in my favor when the list comes out like before. Either way I'm pretty happy to get a good score
the session you were put in doesnt really matter. I wish you the best of luck regardless

Actually no. I tried applying online but the website wouldn't let me sign into my account. So, I did a mail in application, but the weird thing is I sent the application around the extended deadline which was November 15th (?) I probably sent it a couple days before that. Maybe because it was a physical application, they put me in one of the earlier sessions?
thats weird I dont really have anything to say on that, but being thay you sent it close to the deadline thats slightly unfortunate

I got a 91 on station agent. Was that a good score?
So ill mention this for all of you to know
There are multiple factors that go into what determines your spot on a list for the OC exams
When you filed for the application, and what you scored are the two main important criteria
Say you and a friend sent your applications in a day aprt and scored the exact same, your friend will be slightly higher on said list

So, I calculated my score to a 95 or 96.25 before any protest sessions. Is that a good score?
did you apply in the first few days of when the application went out last year?

Without a major redesign to the tunnel system, it’s impossible. Cameras also have blind spots, so that won’t work either.
im still holding out hope thay they try again with another prototype at some point with a future order

Yes, anything above a 95 is an exceptionally good score. Anything above 90 is also good

As a retired t/o who knows the physical aspects of the system, don't include me in that statement!
I feel like eventually they can make them work, it doesnt have to be how they are now

So that leaves only two options for the R211T's;
A) Permanently assigned to Rockaway Park huttle.
B) Have a fate similar to the R110B's.
they won't sideline them like the 110Bs
they dont have catastrophic design issues

A lesson I call “the 11th Commandment”: “thou shall not assume”…
so, yesterday, I fell to the board. I was in the Jamaica Center CRC, the dispatcher trying to get through to the crew office to fix several issues. A T/O walks in, saying he’s here to report for an E job. Tries to find his name on the sign in sheets and can’t. For some reason he slides it to me to check, when I notice his phone is open to the insight app “today’s job” screen.
his job reported at World Trade Center, but because he saw E, he assumed he had to report to Jamaica Center and did not have enough time to get to World Trade and make his trip. He’s still asking the CRC dispatcher for his schedule and I’m telling him “dude… next E train is in four minutes, get downstairs.”
I hope he wasn't a probie

Platform screen doors at this point can only be installed at stations on the Canarsie line, the A division (numbered trains), and the Eastern Division. No other corridors can accommodate them until the R46s and R68/R68A cars retire since they’re all still fair game for those cars to be rerouted onto them or currently run there
even then it would require a cpmplete rebuild of many stations especially the ones above ground

Which brings me to my next question, why did no one think of these potential problems before ordering the cars?
its mainly one of those problems youd need to see out in the field

The official site says :
"Candidates who have passed the exam and meet the qualification requirements are added to a hiring list, which can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months to create after the final date of the exam.
Candidates will be notified of their placement on the list when the list is established for use. The hiring list is valid for up to four years from the date it is established."
so the earliest it could be established is around mid august approximately

IMO if at least the most crowded subway stations have platform screen protection, then it would be more doable to have more open gangway trains.
Keep in mind that subway systems that already have open gangway trains don't have issues with trash on the tracks or people committing suicide by jumping in front of the train.
a lot of stations in their current layout would not be able to support platform screen doors, you would also need to introduce climate control

I’m trying to understand the pick process I’m in division b and I keep getting different ways they handle it. I heard there doing a new thing called redline so that everyone can pick.also is it possible to just pick single jobs off any line that still Available or it has to be in the same district
a redline doesnt let "everyone" pick, but it lets people who otherwise wouldve missed the pick and stay xx a chance at someone else's job or a job in general
A consequence of redlining is that there will be fewer bids out and there may only be 1 sheet out now, so you better like what you picked otherwise youll (mostly) be stuck with it1
