Delivery update with the electrics. KB is OUT. Due to structural issues with the depot, they will not receive electric buses for now. The LFSe's that were slated to go there will now go to Charleston instead. KB will likely receive electrics when the bigger orders are placed. The XE order is currently slated only for Quill, Grand and ENY. Charleston and KB will likely receive XEs with the bigger orders.

4965 and 4966 have been/are being returned to New Flyer to have overheating prevention technology installed, tech that is required after the big fire at CT Transit when one of their XE40s burned to a crisp.

With CH out, how many XE40s will each depot get?

The New Haven Line goes from east to west and they lack this issue.

It is in a diagonal direction and metro north trains consistently turn around at GCT. LIRR trains are permanently fixed facing east/west.

Supposedly the Chargers are enroute to NYC or FRA Testing Facility in Pueblo, Colorado.

    Pueblo for third rail testing.

I thought it had to do with the type of window cleaner they were using, combined with sun exposure? I remember something about MNRR not having the problem because they used a different cleaning process or something.

MNR doesn't have this issue because their lines go from north to south. On the island the sun majority shines on the south side of the train.

There are some good ones in the bunch. I think QV’s fleet aged a bit better than Jamaica’s

I highly doubt the 2011s at Jamaica can last till 2027-2029 so I’m unsure of how Jamaica can retire them since they won’t receive XE40s until 2027-2029

I don’t have much complaint about Jamaica depot and their maintenance. However, I will say is that there is a noticeable difference between a lot of JA’s original LFS’s (within the 8090-8503 series) and the buses they acquired from The Bronx. Some of them LFS buses were beat up before coming to Queens and Jamaica received a lot more of them buses than QV.

The ones that they received from the Bronx are really beat up and in poor condition. Many of them don’t sound right and there is one bus where the floor isn’t sealed properly and diesel fumes leak into the passenger compartment.

Yes. I hear from some other Queens folks that Jamaica depot is quite the opposite.

I ride the 2011s from both depots and they are generally not that great. There may be some decent units sprinkled in but in general, they are getting up there in age.

Me: waits all day to hear about MTA electric bus delivery which includes the 60 XE40, LFSe+ and even the XHE40 on earth day

    The MTA on earth day:

The XE40s have started to be delivered to NEBR facility in JFK but other than that, no word on the other 2.
