Isn’t it a little ridiculous to put something as complex as is plan on the web on Monday with the first meeting two days later? It’s as if they don’t want people to know about this.

Well, the meetings are for stakeholders only. Community/customer input will be done later.

Why is this not on the MTA website when the meetings are next week?  Where is the transparency? The public needs time to study and absorb the new plan.

It's probably going to be updated when they release the plan on Monday or Tuesday and it's for stakeholders only. I'm ready for the stupidity about to come from the plan.

So apparently there's an unofficial redesign floating around I got hands on and I'm feeling like it's an improvement of the network for the most part. Without giving too much away in case it is real without leaking all the info (remember this is all speculation until an official plan is released), here are some highlights from the plan:

*Many combined routes from the new draft plan are reverted back to the current route they run today

*Some routes are rerouted to a busy corridor and replaced by another nearby route (Corridors include Northern Blvd, Hillside Av, Archer Av)

*Select corridors may include a local only service, with limited/rush routes replacing the local east of its terminal (similar to the Q115)

*Some current routes are split as well, acting as subway feeder routes (namely the College Point - Jamaica Routes) or to dispute service along the busiest parts of the route (Q60/66)

*Included in the plan is a "revival" of the Q14, Q45, Q75, and Q79, but are all not the same as their previous 2010 route

*The N20G could unofficially be "sent to NYCT" under a different name

*A new route between The Hub, Bronx and Jackson Heights via RFK and Astoria is "in the works", but something may have been sacrificed in the second draft plan to make this route a reality

Is this it? If so, I think this is some fantasy proposal made by some random person.

Yes, Queens will be full Nova Bus in the future

That makes no sense considering LGA needs loans from Stengel and those xcelsiors aren't leaving Stengel... There is really no point whatsoever...

I don't think it is. From what I remember, Jamaica is a training depot and the Xcelsiors are the standard training buses so they kept some Xcelsiors after the swap with GH earlier this year. Someone feel free to correct this.

You are correct about this. However, from what I've seen, it looks like Jamaica doesn't have enough XD40s to train so they use 2019 XD40s from Grand Avenue (especially 7825) and the select bus service XD40s from ENY (especially 7661 and 7663). At some points, I've seen them using Fresh Pond buses and XN40s from Gleason. I don't exactly know if the DOB wants to make operations more efficient.

Also, was there a reason on how Gun Hill received XD-40s from Jamaica while the blue and white Novas were sent to Jamaica in return?

The official training buses (used for new operator training) were switched from NGs to XD/XN40s. Eastchester had neither and from the looks of it, they didn't want to use the 2015 XD40s. So they decided to have Gun Hill help supply Eastchester along with West Farms. Allegedly it's a temporary swap until Eastchester gets all of their XD40s. Based on the allotments, it looks like Eastchester is getting more than they need so it helps explain that Eastchester will take over training in the future.

iinm transit has a lease agreement with York College for their unused lots to store buses. it's yet to be determined if Jamaica Depot will operate as is with the usage of those lots or if some lines will be temporarily displaced.

The older documents I've read state that they need at least 170 buses to be stored in the lot, but I don't know if the one they leased from York can accommodate that.

Im surprised to hear that these buses are not holding up so well... Considering that being made how many years ago? I shouldn't be at that point

I ride the Q12 very frequently and I don't see what the problem is. Those buses are doing fine.
