The Q75 that the MTA proposed is a waste. In my opinion the route should travel down 73rd Street between Springfield Blvd all the way to Main Street. Then I would have it take the Q74’s old route via Vleigh Place to Union Turnpike to Queens Blvd. The MTA is giving Union Turnpike in general a lot more service than needed. Having the Q75 run down 73rd will allow opportunity for new ridership and connectivity and that was taken away in the last proposed plan.

I would have to agree that having the Q75 is a waste. Little Neck loses direct access to LIRR Jamaica and the Q36 would be even slower under this plan. the Q75 should be routed to somewhere other than Little Neck. The existing Q30 should remain intact. They are prioritizing QCC for no apparent reason which I have mentioned previously.

Back in 2020 when I had to go to EWR, I wanted to take one of the overnight BxM2's (that never had anyone on them) from Riverdale. Dude blew past my stop with a NIS sign up, I had to actually chase after him for a few blocks (thank god for the horrible timed lights on Riverdale Av) with luggage and a backpack until he finally pulled over and asked if I wanted the bus. His excuse was no one ever rides his trip and he thought I was waiting for the BxM1. Yeah right.

Waited for the Q36 at the terminal once and the op dropped his passengers off, puts up NIS, and drives away. Was not fun waiting another 30 minutes for a bus.

then you have the Q30 and Q75.... that's gonna piss off a lot of people..... cuz why terminate at Briarwood... Kew Gardens would've been better

Kew Gardens doesn't make any sense either. They aren't going to change jack after this final plan since they claim that west of QCC has "greater ridership". My guess for them rerouting it to Briarwood is so that it can still be based out of JA. It would be horrible to base it out of QV. QV is way too far and they can't do street reliefs since it goes nowhere near QV. Jamaica is the better option and schedules have decreased on the Q75 in favor of greater service on the Q30 so I don't see why it can't be based out of JA.

This got me thinking, if Nova Bus isn't gonna be compatible with the Buy America Act, is the 5 LFSe+ still on their way to delivery? Iirc the 5 buses were to be delivered 4th quarter 2023/early 2024 but plans may have shifted after the fact of no more American operations.

From what nova said, they are closing their plant in 2025 which fits their deadline. However, I don't know if the contract is binding and if the MTA still wants the buses since it's not really useful at this point.

The B15 will not get 60Ft it does not go to JFK, JG will not be getting diesel buses WF can handle Diesel. Anytime JG gets a loan it’s fueled at the respective Garage before going to JG. As far as the Q58 it’s not set I stone that it’s staying at FP if they push for 60FT for both routes.

Isn’t the metro card RTS based out of JG?? And originally JG was planned to get XD40s for the L shuttle so they can perfectly handle diesels.

It looks like New Flyer was awarded the 245 articulated bus base order. If the options are approved, then the(MTA)would get 691 XD60s. The pilots would arrive in January 2025, and will start delivery in August of that year. It would be completed by November 2027.

    (Look at page 37)

    https://new.mta.info/document/129106

Also looks like nova is out of the running for future orders since the MTA stated "Nova Bus ultimately withdrew its proposal prior to submitting a Best and Final Offer ('BAFO') as it decided to close its US manufacturing facility."

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but just like everyone else who’s commented, we don’t know due to two things..

The Unions/Superintendents at the depots and

What company would get what bus line

Just because a bus line is closer to a depot, doesn’t mean it’ll get it. Generally, that’s how it should be, but it’s not all like that. For example, the M98, literally drives past 100th, but it’s outta MHV. The Bx40/42 literally drives past WF, but it’s outta GH. Sometimes it’s just not gonna be the depot it literally drives past. We just gotta wait and see.

the B57 still has to be finalized under Brooklyn Bus Redesign so I highly doubt it would be sent over to BC...
"Note that trips involving Q8, Q24, Q59, Q68, B53, B57, and B62 may not show accurate travel times, since those routes will still be reviewed and finalized under the Brooklyn Redesign."

It’s just an estimate. However, QV-Little Neck is around a 10-15 minute deadhead, and Main/Manton is about 20-25. 75 would also easily interline with any of the lines starting at Kew Gardens in QV.

Little Neck is around 20 minutes since they can't use cross Island parkway and have to go down LNP. If they really wanted the 75 to interline with the other union routes, they would have sent it to Kew Gardens, not Briarwood.

    My guess for the depots:

    QV: Q1, Q2, Q36, Q45, Q46, Q48, Q75, Q82, Q83, Q88

    JAM: Q3, Q4, Q5, Q17, Q30, Q31, Q42, Q51, Q77, Q84, Q85, Q86, Q87

    STE: Q12, Q13, Q15, Q16, Q20, Q26, Q27, Q28, Q32, Q44, Q61, Q62, Q76

    JFK: Q6, Q7, Q8, Q9, Q10, Q37, Q40, Q52, Q60

    FRK: Q11, Q22, Q35, Q41

    BP: Q64, Q110, Q111, Q112, Q114, Q115

    CP: Q14, Q19, Q23, Q25, Q38, Q63, Q65, Q66

    LGA: Q18, Q29, Q33, Q39, Q47, Q49, Q53, Q67, Q68, Q69, Q70, Q72, Q101, Q103, Q104, Q105

There’s probably a couple missing, but those are my guesses.

Why would QV get the Q75? The proposed Q75 is the same schedule as the existing Little Neck branch of the existing Q30 with service cuts to capacitate the service increases of the proposed Q30. Adding on, it's a 30-minute deadhead to Briarwood from QV and a 20-minute deadhead to Little Neck. Not at all reasonable whatsoever. I don't get the bs argument of depots owning streets such as "QV owning Hillside Ave and Union Turnpike"

Q30: Strange choice for a rush route... While I don't necessarily have a problem with having it end at QCC, I do think they're overemphasizing QCC.... And what is this about "Splitting the Q30 branches into two separate routes allows riders to better differentiate which route to take based on their destination."? Didn't know service to QCC was considered a branch, but whatever...

In my opinion, if they want a bus route to go to Briarwood via 188th, they should keep the existing Q30 intact and have the QCC "branch" be the one heading to Briarwood. Like you said, I don't get why they are overemphasizing QCC, there is barely any ridership over there except when school is dismissed. They can run a few school trippers on the Q30 if necessary.

I was kind of disappointed that there wouldn't be a 73rd Avenue bus service, but I wonder if it had to do with little demand for it. In terms of the Q75, I think they should've kept the old proposal. No reason for it to be in Briarwood at all. In fact, I don't think the Q30 should've been touched at all.

I have to agree with this here. I find it stupid that they are desperately trying to cut the Q30 back to QCC instead of Little Neck. The QCC loop shouldn't even exist for the Q30. There is no point and no one even uses it except Cardozo High School kids.
