Trust me, the most randomest shit is separated from each other, like I don't know, 'R160A-1' and 'R160A-2'. What's the difference?

Number assignments are weird for the buses but then again it’s expected since it changes for every new bus order they get

How long do you guys think the OGs have? I wanna hit up Queens when the weather gets warmer. But judging by how fast the Novas and XD40s are coming in I'm judging they won't last until May.

And if I were to hit up the OGs what are the best spots to catch them?

Jamaica either by the 165th terminal or Sutphin & Jamaica or by the Far Rockaway routes since I seen they are more frequent there. I’d give the OGs by Late March into April since there’s 13 left. I spotted 3756 on the Q9 so far today omw home

But it also doesn't help when conductors on LIRR are getting screamed at or hit with their own printers for trying to enforce even the slightest of rules, or when bus drivers have to fend off attackers with knives...

Man... these poor MTA workers going through it, it's sad.

And going off topic, I worked city seasonal aide for city parks during the summer and lemme tell y'all, people get mad when you enforce a rule on them (most of them comply, some turn violent) they wanna turn up because they can't follow one simple rule. These people don't treat us city workers with respect... like we gotta defend ourselves on the job before someone actually hurt us or kill us for the littlest things.

When I was a driver I was one of the very few that actually enforced the fare. It seems nowadays fare beating is considered the norm and trying to enforce it automatically turns into backlash from passengers or from your managers. Which sucks, because it was never this bad 10-15 years ago. Hell, every time (MTA) puts out a “please pay your fare” PR message on social media, they get a shit ton of hate replies demeaning them for…enforcing the rule?

I truly do hope (MTA) upsizes the eagle team drastically and this new DA actually prosecutes fare beating with a hefty fine.

It's crazy cuz almost nobody pay their fares on the Q6 but yet peeps got bags of clothes and got money but yet can't pay $2.75 for a fare???

But watch when people start boycotting the MTA cuz of the fare to make it free

I miss the RTSs…Just imagine what it would be like if the mta still had them in 2024.

Ehh in my mind, id see them being electrified... but then again that's difficult and time consuming.

The accordion joint is probably not too difficult to replace but the bus is 13 years old at this point. Who knows maybe a frankenstein may occur?

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets retired, but that looks fixable, just a new accordion and it should be back to normal

Now that we are on the topic of training buses, I was wondering if all XD40s are used for training or if it's typically just the 2017-19 units. I'm aware that the 2016-17 XN40s are also used for training.

Ahh I seen an XN40 on the Van Wyck and Atlantic not too long ago used for training

It does ruin the fun going out looking for the units yourself to collect evidence as a source. And a shortcut way that leads to dead ends. That’s  just my thought. The tracker is okay only if you’re going to school or work from A to B looking to see if your bus is coming or not, but not as officially a straight point as it’s finished from what I’ve learned.

Also, there are some buses that’s in service but has the tracker broken. Basically, seeing it is better than believing it but that’s my take.

Oh wow that's interesting, I be using the website's roster for more info since I feel its almost accurate

And also I've been busy these weeks to catch 'em myself

And what about the 2023-2024 Novas for MTA Bus?

As of right now BP is 73% finished with its deliveries.  JFK/FR Not sure the assignment number but they are up to 40 rn. LG hasn't gotten any Novas yet.

I'm sure the deliveries are slow due to the OGs and NGs still being in service

Interesting you mentioned the last part because anyone remember a few years ago before the pandemic where there was a scandal about the MTA dumping old buses into Brooklyn and the outer areas of the city i.e poorer neighborhoods? I remember on this forum it was some sort of thing mentioned how they usually get newer buses to the northern boroughs first and trickle them down.

If you was talking about this than yes I vividly remembering seeing this pop up on the news

I put it like this, would the Jamaica bus depot go through so much trouble to be rebuilt had it been a regular company instead of a transit agency? This isn't to make an argument for privatize transit vs public (its not) but the more I look into our transit issues in the states, it seem more of an issue about politics than capability.

It's never good when politics bleed into civil services because its mostly about money, not the people.
