  1. the horror :P

maybe I'll actually finish that list one day.

Its a handy way to store mental notes I guess.

(E)(F)(M)(R)... Which is PAINFULLY SLOW and the LIRR is overpriced and uncomfortable... Yeah that's like Fieldston... Same thing... Streets are privately owned.... I think Forest Hills Gardens may have fewer mansions but still very elegant and quaint. A co-worker of mine went out there and was considering buying out there.

the (E)/(F) arent too bad out there. The LIRR isnt that bad, they have the same seats on Metro-North. I find the Shoreliners to be less comfortable than the C3s since the shoreliners' windowsills are too high to rest your arm on. Ive been on plenty of long trips on those Shoreliners, I went to Waterbury, Wassaic and Poughkeepsie before. Somehow Metro North seems more expensive to go out on long trips with. I remember paying like almost 40 bucks round trip for waterbury but greenport didnt seem that much.

  2.  to activate stealth mode on Safari on a Mac,

go to the Safari menu, between the Apple menu and File and select  Private Browsing

To clear your cache on Safari, go to the Safari menu, between Apple and File and select Preferences.

Then go to the Privacy tab, and hit the button Remove all Website Data. It'll remind you that it will log you off the sites you are logged into, confirm that and it should log you out.

  3. I remember when TMobile almost went out of business because they didnt have iPhone support and meanwhile the other major players, AT&T, Verizon had the iphone and Sprint just got it.

If they wanna stay relavent, they need to offer consumers a choice, merging will only buy them some time. But they are missing out on a significant part of the cell phone market.

  4. Oh yeah, I did. Silly me. But now I'm sad, I miss the R32/46 summer swap on the (A)(C)... :(

The RFW on the R32 along the IND Rockaway Line and the (A) express is just so fun! Oh well...

as I expected, thats the main reason the railfans like these old relics unless their old guys and like em because thats what they grew up on riding.

I don't know if this was discussed but I heard today Next year will be the last swap, in other words all 32's to the (A)

So next year theyre going to keep the 32s on the (A) and have the (C) get full length 46's?

2 More weeks before they swap is what I heard from a dispatcher. BTW this R-42 had roaches at the C/R's position. I wanted to throw up, I wanted to take it out of service but I just wanted to get back to 207 and go home

dont worry those jalopies will be back on the (J) line and you wont have to deal with em anymore

  6. theres a newer roll on some R32s that has the (JFK) saying Train to the Plane instead of JFK Express and the (Z) has Jamaica Nassau St.

Most of em have the roll from the late 80s when they overhauled them, if I remember right there is one set with the older 1985 roll, that one only has <C> 8 Avenue Local, not the long way of writing out the routes like Washington Heights/8 Avenue/Fulton.

  7. I have no sympathy for bikers who hog up entire lanes on a street and then get mad when people honk at them... I wonder where they got this belief that they could take up a lane of road to do what they want.

I think we found something we can agree on lol

  8. Well I won't lie... The main thing I use my phone for is watching NHL games when I'm traveling or listening to music on Youtube. I originally had the 5GB plan, but Verizon allowed me to double that for free. Since I've moved to Riverdale my usage has dropped significantly because I have a very short commute now. Before I'd use a ton traveling to Staten Island, but now I'm lucky to have enough time for a 15 - 20 minute nap and maybe 10 - 20 minutes for music.

I dont use youtube on my phone, if im watching a video or listening to music, its stuff I loaded on there myself.

  9. I don't see the big deal... I do just fine with 10GB of data and 1,000 text messages a month. It's been like this in Europe for years. The thing is the Americans are used to having everything in excess and unlimited quantities. We've had it good for way too long... Cheap gas... Cheap food... Now folks have to cut back and they can't adjust. It's all about living in a more simple manner.

I do just fine with 200mb a month of data, and I'm able to browse all I want and I don't think I ever came close to reaching the cap. I dont know how anyone can exceed 10-20GB of data unless that's their only internet connection, or they are tethering with other devices.

  10. the 58 idea has no chance, most of that route has nothing there but mansions and the occasional gas station on the side of the road. I know that area well since I used to go to NY Tech. There's no sidewalks or anything there. Its no accident the only bus stops east of Greenvale on the 20 are the two colleges, SUNY Old Westbury and then the next stop is when you hit suburbia again.

There's not even that much vehicular traffic on NY 25A east of East Norwich, it narrows back to one lane in each direction and has a very rural feel to it. It only picks up once you get to Huntington Village.
