  1. I agree, and if nothing else the TA could place an emergency lease order for DE40's and DE60's. The DE40's could be here in 2 weeks and the 60's in 3 or 4.

My friend, if New Flyer could supply buses that fast here, I would drop Orion like a bad habit, and go to New Flyer tomorrow. We have them here already, and they are the better buses with the LF (C40LF)...... Just looking at the buses, one could see that the New Flyer is slightly larger. I drove both the Orion VII CNG, and the C40LF (19-A). The Flyer is far roomier. They just need to shrink that steering wheel, cause it is just too huge. Hopefully they did with the updated Flyers. I thought I was turning a small school bus wheel........

  2. So what new Citaro features are to be added to the O7 NG?

I really didn't expect MTA to get these buses in the 1st half of the year but these buses are really needed. Let's hope Orion is able to reconfigure the bus for a quicker delivery like October.

Maybe MTA should start looking at the New Flyer DE40LFR, while testing the D60LF (hopefully R).

  3. Now the million dollar question: Is 6695 going to stay at KB long enough for driver's training?

Little off topic but are they re-repainting the 99 O5's? Saw 6249 and 6296 looking like they got a new coat of paint recently.

Can't wait to ride the NGO7's.

6296 is a great bus to drive. Lots of power. 6695 is now gone, and an Orion V is in the redone paint shop now. Some of the 99 Orions at KB had been repainted, and now they look like sh!t again.......I understand why we get crap here. But all depots has this problem......

  4. Since I work the M100 now, I see alot of Hybrids on the M60. I have noticed that the engine doesn't sound as good as it use to be. They sound like they are truly struggling now, when accelerating. I'm sometimes directly behind them, and they just cry. It doesn't sound right. The ones on the M1 though, sound like they usually sound. Maybe it's the H'way speeds with the heavy load (they bees packed I say). Maybe it's to much stress on the engine. Me thinks it's time for another bus swap, to give those MTV Hybrids a break from the heavy work.

  5. Well when the hell are ya'll gonna start driver training? The NG's will be arriving in less than 4 months.

You know the 1st Hybrids I'm talking about, will most likely be the 1998 ones. That old crap we will get.

  6. KB's buses stay on a tow and breaking down. I had one today, when I knelt it, it wouldn't go back up. That meant the interlock wouldn't disengage, so I had to cut the bus off, then turn it back on (like the RTSs). I just stop kneeling it. On top of that heat was blowing in instead of A/C. It was just hot in this bus (yes the climate control was off at this point).

The second bus I got, everything was alright until my last trip. Then the stop requested sign stop working. The ding could still be heard though. Luckily, we get an indication on the dashboard also. Kingsbridge.......home of the dawgs. I had a Amsterdam depot operator comment a few days ago about the raggedy buses we have. Sounds like they are falling apart. Rust all around the roof, and as you can see, the sides. Here we don't wonder if we will break down. We just ask ourselves, when will we break down. It's just a matter of time.

  7. Well we need more newer buses in here. This is how the 400-600series look under all the paint:

    cid__0420081618.jpg

That's why they are so loud when hitting potholes. The frame is rusted through. Just click to see the larger pic, and you will see the holes. The 6000 series are the quietest buses in KB. The artics are loud also. This includes the 5600-5700series.

  8. You don't mind going back to a 40ft line now that the RTS's are gone??? Whats that supposed to mean huh? Don't get jacked up talkin bout my bus now! :D

You can have em'. Those are the culprits of having to be shut off after being knelt down, with a full load. Good riddance to them..........

  9. MORE CRAP!!!! I do not care what orion says their 07's are the worst bus they ever bult, The 05 are way better and they wan to stop making those buses !!!! Orion is going to loose big money!!!!!

Almost every maker is getting out of the HF market. LF is the future of buses. Bee-Line has their last batch of HF for local buses. They want LFs to replace the 400series Orion V, which are increasingly showing up on short haul southern routes now (2, 42, 25, 30, etc). Orion just needs to do something about the shocks and air bellows, for NYCTA. Bee-Lines Orion VII rides unbelievably smooth. NYCTAs Orion VII ride like crap, due to the abuse they take on the streets of NYC. I drove the CNGs on the Bx6, and I might have gotten 2 that rode smooth. Most go bang in the craters of NYC. Also the cheap rims NYCTA puts on them buses needs to change. Hopefully these problems were addressed and taken care of in the new model.

  10. It just doesn't make sense. They don't really need new Artics, what they need is something to replace those God forsaken ex-CAS buses. I'm tired of sitting on the Bx3 or Bx10 and listening to screeching fanbelts, Even the 8800's were better then what they have now. When will we know who gets what?

I love that sound. Sounds like mice getting caught and ground up in the belts. I'm tired of the rattling, and the high steps. HF are better, but the majority of our customers seem to have step climbing problems.

As for the artics, we do need plenty more. The Bx9, Bx1/2, and sometimes Bx55 and Bx41, has to run 40fters due to lack of artic buses. The M100 suppose to become artic, and now they can be found there, including Sundays, when plenty of 40fter buses are available for Sundays. We need more 60fters, and new 40fters. We have taken too much of others crap, and need to be rewarded for this. The maintenance guys here need a break. The drivers need a break also. You know it's bad when the shifters complain about the buses, and they only drive them on the lot.....

  11. I'm praying it passes inspection and goes to KB. They're in desperate need of some new buses.

Before I leave out of there, I would love to drive a new bus. The newest thing I ever drove was the Orion VII CNG, and that was out of West Farms. If KB gets the NG buses (I'm hoping they do), I think alot of artic lines would open up. The senior cats will want to drive the new buses. The Orion VII does have the most comfortable area for the driver. Steering wheel isn't massive, seats goes back far, and has a huge drivers storage bin. But as the depot union chair said, "800 new buses are due to come in, and most likely they will go to Manhattan, while we get their crap". I'm hoping to pick on a 40ft line Thursday. Since the KB RTS's are gone, I don't mind going to a 40ft line now. .25 cents extra per hour ain't worth, 120 people and a 60ft bus.

  12. Countdown to delivery! I was told by my source that when the First NYCT NG rolled off the assembly line this morning, all seemed to be going as planed. The bus now has to be approved by (MTA)

NYC already tested this model, before it was sent back to Orion. They use these terms (approve), but fact is these buses are here to stay. This will be the future of MTA.

  13. LOL.... no, not really. It will actually have a few more features than demo bus # 1292

Not if the MTA can get comfortable features taken out. If they could get away with putting in cinder blocks for operators seats they would. It actually might be more comfortable.

  14. LMAO! And to think the RTS's, O5's, and C40's only average 200-240hp, and 900 ft-lbs torque. The Artics are about 250-260hp w/ 1100 ft-lbs

For those 5600-5700series artics, they can fly due to diesel power. Some will roll up hill without the accelerator being touched.........

  15. That's understood, but "Sub" does mean under, yet a lot of subway lines run above ground.

That's why I say, "I'm catching the train".......You can't get on the subway, or be hit by the subway, but the train you can get on and be hit by.

  16. Have their ever been plans on a table, or at least discussion, of connecting the SIR with the subway?? Also, do you guys think that there will be another line built on SI? (NYCT)

Another line: Possibly if STI becomes like the rest of the Boroughs in the future (less houses more buildings)

Connected: It's highly possible, but they would have to tunnel under the Narrows. That will cost, but would connect STI, and people would have another option instead of the conga line of buses on the STI Expressway, and Gowanus.

  17. All you need to do is get a new graphics card,I have a Ge-Force 7600GS(maybe GTS) I forget, and it runs fine. Also you need 1Gig of ram or more(which by todays standards is nothing)

Got 1Gig of RAM, and have a ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Graphics card, which I updated yesterday. When Trainz does that CPU check everything checked out fine. But if I do need a more powerful graphics card, and it costs several hundreds, well I'll play MSTS until I can play with the real trains.......

  18. My CPU has more than enough power, just updated the graphics card, and it plays, but very jerky, as the CPU is downloading the scenery as you move forward. I'll be sticking with MSTS, and I don't know why TRAINZ Classics makers didn't create their games, compatible with MSTS requirements. I should not have to steal a CPU from NASA or the Pentagon to play a game. Geesh!
