  1. What's with the deviations of the S57 Routes couldn't the 6A be extended to cover Lake Ronkonkoma and the S59 covering McArthur Airport? Is there a point in the deviation, anyone knows the riding patterns?

The S57 routeing around Lake Ronkonkoma covers that of an old private route. So my guess is that there use to be or is some ridership around that.

The S57 most being doing well enough the way it is to cover the cost. It cost $14.01 to operate the S59 per run according to the County.

Extending the 6A just extends it's run time and could cause the need for a second bus, and if ridership doesn't go up to help pay for a second bus then it would be a waste of money.

  3. Does anyone have any info on Holbrook Transp or Four Seasons Coach Lines?

All I know about Four Seasons Coach Lines is that they were the first company that the SUNY Stony Brook Student government contract with to run a route Smith Haven Mall to the College with a stop at a local supermarket. They ended up going out of business the next year. I believe the route then ended up with Coram Bus Service afterwards.

At some point I believe the route was extended to Port Jefferson Station and ended up becoming the original part of the S60.

Other than that I have no clue, as I can't find anything on either company.

  4.

...and that last bus on the S66 must be #1075. I saw that bus heading towards Riverhead as I passed it on County Road 51 around 6:50 last night. Oh and that bus has "Suffolk Bus Corp." on the bottom. I miss that bus when it was at Hampton Jitney.

Its possible. However that run coming into Riverhead at 6:50 is the other two bus run. So 1075 could have seen the Patchouge to Shirley then Express to Riverhead or  the second bus that does all the stops from there to Riverhead. I'm not sure which of the drivers end up doing the 6:50 run from Riverhead.

Also I just found out that before it was cut the S71 was operated out of the Coram Yard.

  6. Does he pick up stops along Patchogue Av? I know the 7D/7E use to.

Not that I was told. I'm surprised it goes that way, I would have assumed it should have stopped picking up passengers after Montauk and Mastic Road, the last listed stop on the schedule for that bus.

  7. ...and that's the other thing, at around 9 PM or so, I've seen #5041 pull into HJ. I believe that bus is now on the 10C. The last trip arrives in Montauk at 7:50 so it makes since to arrive at HJ around 9 PM. Haven't seen #1064 OR #5042 since the cuts. I know #1074 and #1077 are still around.

    1064 slipped my mind.

Some 99xx's are said to not have been seen since the cuts, so I'm not sure what is going on.

Oh I learned from my mother and sister how that S66 extra bus on the 7:00 run to Patchouge works. It does all the stops until after the stop on Herkimer, before it merges with Mastic Road, it then goes down to Patchouge Ave, turns on to Patchouge, goes to William Floyd, then up William Floyd to Sunrise. Takes Sunrise to North Ocean Ave and then down to Patchouge Railroad Station.

  8. Does the Coram Yard have more than just the S58 and S62?

My guess is that it could. I only know of the S58 because someone had asked a driver and the S62 because one of the buses used on the S58 was used on that route a few days later. (This was a time when there wasn't much bus movement between the yards and before Atlantic Express sold Suffolk Transportation their Central Suffolk Contracts)

The only other route I feel safe as saying may be at the Coram Yard is the S110 as there was video of 2004 leaving there with the S62 sign.

I know from photos they seem to have more Transit buses then those I have written, but I haven't been able to see numbers, and Nobody has never gone by it to see. (The last time I was near there was back before Suffolk Transportation Service renovated it.)

  9. I know, that's what I thought too but I did see it on Monday Morning while I was on the train.

I should have added that transferring that bus in general makes no sense since 5042 and probably 5041 at HJ probably have less miles on them then 5014, not to mention they aren't needed that much since all the routes HJ has left probably don't need a 35ft bus with the cut of the S90.

  10. Hey Mac!Does the Coram Yard have more than just the S58 and S62? Yesterday morning, I saw #5014 at Patchogue LIRR Station BUT it was on the S54. Speaking of Patcuogue LIRR, I saw #5059 on the S40 leaving Babylon. Giving you a heads up!NOTE: I won't post this on the other forum. No more duplicates.

That makes no sense why would 5014 be on the S54, that route is run by EBT.

  11. As of 11/18/16

5053 is OOS since accident on 4/18/14
5076 is OOS after being involved in an accident 7/20/15
Para Transit bus 2807 is OOS with Extensive front end damage.
1010 is OOS due to an accident 9/30/15

5058 is OOS due to an accident on the LIE on 9/27/16

Para Transit bus 1205 is OOS due to an accident in Riverhead 11/4/16

*2947-2948 transferred to Fix route for use on the 7A (2948 broke down and was replaced by 2947 for the rest of the week, unknown if 2948 was returned to SCAT service)

*The 7D/E, 10A, and 10D/E were proposed to be cut in 1990. It is assumed they were cut because another route that was listed with them was mentioned as having been cut but restored a few years later. It is assumed that if they were indeed cut they were restored around or before 1993 as the routes were listed on the 1993 system wide bus map

  12. I'm actually starting to think that it's possible there are more buses and routes at the Coram Yard then thought since Suffolk Bus Corp sister Company Suffolk Transportation Service was sold the Hauppauge School District Contract and has those School Buses in the Ronkonkoma Transit Yard, taking up alot of the space that use to be used by the Transit buses.

Fact is though that I'm not sure the whole assignment of buses between the Coram and Ronkonkoma Yard now. Even though I haven't made the change, I think it's possible the S110 is out of the Coram Yard. It was possible, and more likely that, the 5A had been out of the Coram Yard when it was cut.

It's probably because of the cuts. 1081 was the bus that was assigned to the 10DE most of the time. Also I still have 1010 listed as OOS so that could be a reason as well.

  13. Nice

So the s71 was fairly young to compare its death a month ago

Yes. Until the s76 was started, it was the last route created.

    As of 11/5/16

  15. Hey Mac!Here are a couple of observations that I noticed yesterday...Orion 07.502 #1061 was operating on the S58 yesterday morning. I saw it leaving the Riverhead LIRR Station heading to Huntington Square Mall. My thing is according to your roster, either #1061 is a bus move to CBS OR #1061 got a head start on the "Sunday Service" from Ronkonkoma (Suffolk Bus Corp). I should have looked at the bottom of the bus to see if that had changed. Also, while traveling on NYS 24 (County Road 94) just south of the Riverhead Courthouses, I saw Gillig Phantom #5014 coming from Downtown Riverhead heading towards the courthouses. Now normally if it's coming from that direction (especially on a SATURDAY), that tells me that it came from the Riverhead LIRR Station. Now according to your roster, you have #5014 listed at Ronkonkoma. So either this bus was operating on the S58 OR there was another bus move at this bus was operating on the S62 (CBS). What made me question this was the fact that I saw #5014 on the S66 before the cuts and I know the S66 does not serve the train station.Anyways, I saw both of these events yesterday. Keep up the great work on the roster!

It could have been bus moves. Buses at Ronkonkoma and Coram yards share the same colored circle an from what I heard are sometimes routinely between the two yards.

However the Coarm yard may not be up to date as I'm not sure what routes are operated out of there. I only know of the s58 because someone found that out from a driver. I got the s62 there due to I believe one of the buses said to have been used on the s58 being used a short time later on the s62, or a video of a bus leaving the Coram yard with the s62 sign on.

Ironically 1061 use to be assigned to the s58 under CBS Lines, with some time spent on the s60, however it was replaced by either 1031, 1037, or 1038 when Suffolk Bus Corp took over the route.

  16. The 10cshould go all the way to the point i mean have it use two buses...after all Hampton jitney owns 6 buses. ..one for the 10c one for the s94 one for the s90 and one for either the 10a aand B also one for the s92 last run at 330pm which would arrive back at 915pm...so now that the s90 is dead have it use for two 10c...iwould prefer the 10c bihourly and not every 3 hours...a total killer

Hampton Jitney doesn't own the transit buses, the County does. They are assigned the 6 buses.

Also non of HJ's assign buses work the s92, that bus is most likely an bus assigned to Sunrise Coach that is kept at the HJ yard for the purpose of being used on the late s92. As I've been told only Sunrise Coach is the operator of the S92.

  17. I don't think so. I do believe back then it was still a summer bus route. I could be wrong.

Yeah the S94 was a summer only route back then. (I have no idea why I had thought it wasn't.)

I had only asked because the map showed a route going to Southhampton Hospital and what I believe was the S92 route and then a line for a route connecting the two before Southampton LIU, and I wasn't sure if that short line could have been the S94 or not because it wasn't marked.

I've been trying to draw the 10D/E and the S94 from back in '93 on a Google Map. I've gotten the 10 D and like 90% of the 10E. I wanted to get the S94 as close to correct before I started it, The only part I don't think I have correct would be the routing right before it ended at LIU.

  18.

If that's the way the S66 operated back then, then yes, more or less.

Sorry this replay is late BM5, I needed to look up your original statement and forgot to when I madethe replay about the Yaphank RR Station on the 13th.

Yes. The S66 use to only traveled via Bellport Villiage. I'm not sure exactly when the by pass runs started, but the 1993 system map doesn't show the S66 bypassing Bellport Villiage so my guess would be somewhere between then and when I moved to the area in 2003. My guess though would be when it was extended to Riverhead because that's when the S66 lost its by pass of Mastic Beach to the S68.

Maybe layover on Laura Pizzini Way (or at least use it as a turnaround, and layover at a bus stop on Montauk Highway itself)

They just built a row of commercial businesses there, not to mention a laying over bus could impeded members of the Mastic Ambulance Company responding to the station as there is an entrance on Laura Pizzini. Laura Pizzini wasn't that wide enough to start with.

I wouldn't advise on buses laying over on Montauk, since there are 'No parking any time' signs

  19. Yeah, that map is basically what I would do with the S68.

I don't think you can get all the way out to Center Moriches in 15 minutes. It takes the S71 10 minutes to get from the County Offices to the Shirley Mall. Center Moriches is 15 minutes from that, so you're talking about a full hour of runtime. Cutting it back to Mastic Road allows you to have a layover without creating a 70 minute headway or anything like that.

Theres no spot for a layover near Mastic Road or at least non with space for it.

It could see it taking 15 minutes to get from Shirley Mall to Center Moriches depending on the traffic, and the time of day. The S68 is allotted ten minutes from the Southport Shopping Center, which isn't that far from the Shirley Mall, to Center Moriches. and when the S68 is on time and there is good traffic on Montauk the S68 seems to be able to make it on time to Center Moriches.

  20. I know, but it's not like you have to physically pick up the platforms and move them. Likely, they would construct new platforms/station booths at the new location, but there's nothing saying you have to abandon the old one while you do it. Why not just keep the old station and new station open?

Thats something the MTA has to decide. (Though having two stations named Yaphank would lead to confusion.)

The town didn't say what they would like to see happen with the old site. Though since they say the current site isn't used much, my guess would be that they would like to see it torn down. Though again thats just my guess.
