That annoys me to the fact he took that spot from someone who really wanted to become a conductor.

Good luck with that. Do you know what you have to do to become an usher? The steps. 200k is seniority driven. I’m sorry to bust your bubble, but it takes years to reach that level.

Anybody looking to become an AC , disregard any information you read above. Ask a real conductor for real info like myself,CGeorge and others. Ask DreNYC for any Engineer info. Not hearsay where it will lead you thinking wrong. No they don’t look to fire you since they spent so much time and money on you during training. There’s no easy test. Everyone has to qualify on the same PC and BOR exams. How do you know it’s not the best job when you’re going through the beginning process? Every craft in the LIRR has pros and cons. It’s what you make out of it matters the most.

Not even close. You’re going to deal with flow charts and all kind of goodies. It’s not hard , but it throws people off.

It’s not worth trying to figure out what they’re looking for in a candidate for Engineer or any craft. Best thing is , is to be patient and stay on top of it , plus go with the flow. Most importantly, STUDY!! When you get to that point.

Applied for both at different times. But to add , I was an internal. So I was already in the RR.

Yup it happened to me . They turned me down for Engineer but hired me as a Conductor. Go figure.

Should be no problem. Just make sure you bring possibly your old license with your face on it.
