  1. Ok I see, thanks for clarifying for me the way redbirds were assigned to the appropriate lines back then. Never looked at it that way. Makes sense.

Werd. I've always thought it was mad cool to see the R36's hitting up the (6) along with the usual R62A's back in the days.

On top of what R32 said, the R36 cars on the (6) were the last cars to have the orange door paint scheme, which was used in the 80s to combat the graffiti epidemic. That paint scheme for the doors lasted into the mid 90s.

  2. I'm very curious as to why the (MTA) gave the (J) r160's over the (A) or (C)

Well for the (A), there was power issues out in the Rockaways at the time the R160s were going into service. It was a problem having a number of trains of R160s running out there, but they've since handled that issue. I don't know the full details of that and I hope someone can fill you in with more information. The (J) got R160s for obvious reasons.

  3. Status on our old 2002 Phantoms. So far 9/17 are active. Three have retired this year, four are going to be retired in 2014 (no word on what will happen with 501 and 505 yet, but 505 will likely be gone by next year). The other nine Phantoms are likely to continue service into 2015 and possibly further depending on a number of factors. If 2015 is the last year for these buses, 502 and 515 are the ones that will likely make the last run, since they have lower mileage.

  4. Why does everyone on here assume I have a hatred towards SMEE's? For god sakes my second favorite line is the (3) . DJ don't take it the wrong way I'm not trying to single you out but don't take my troll Post's seriously I could really give a flying f**k about these trains I don't have an emotional attachment to them... And don't ask me how f**ks can fly or else I'll be on the next flight towards Florida ^_^ carry on with the 179 discussion before TTC throws a bitchfit.

Why are you getting so damn defensive for? Where in my last post did I say that you hated SMEEs. Please show me where did I say that. I pointed out SMEEs are on the A division as well. Dude take a f**king chill pill.

  5. Today at about noon while on the Deegan I-87, I briefly glanced at what I saw was a single R110B car at 207 Street Yard's Track 65 (same track where recent scrap cars left property this year). No clue on car number (Stef on Subchat reports it to be car 3007), but I could tell it was an A-car unit; front cab was facing the 215th Street gate. I assume this is the car...or one of the cars....(?) from the 3001-3003 set that will be heading to Floyd Bennett Field?

To add onto what Friday said, there is a four car set of Mailine R44s in storage at CIY. They're 5286-5289. No one knows why those cars are there, but I can think of four possible reasons why.

    1. They're going to be converted to pump cars.

    2. They're going to be converted to prototypes for the R211s, just like some SMEEs became prototypes for the R142 fleet.

    3. They'll be used for training at Floyd Bennett Field.

    4. The set is preserved by someone else.
