Good morning all, I'm looking for assistance with identifying issues with bus announcements on Manhattan Bus routes. For example I found an issue with the Westbound M42 bus stop at W 42nd Street & Broadway Stop code# 403354. There is no bus stop there but the bus still make announcement.

Also if you happen to find missing information on a bus stop furniture (pole, route sign, destination sign, count down clock  defective). A perfect example would look like at 10th Avenue & W 49th Street M11 local route panel signage is missing at stop code# 401410.  please include an image of defect if possible.

Any help on the matter is appreciated as I will attempt to rectify issues with  NYC DOT & MTA

What was the response when you submitted this on MTA's site?

I 100% believe the BOs do it to keep people off of their buses so they can have empty runs. I think since covid, they got spoiled woth empty buses and never wa t to go back to full runs

Empty buses is a great way for them to lose work due to service cuts.

This is a lot worse than was indicated. It wasn't just a piece that fell, it collapsed under the weight of a bus. Until that roof is load-bearing again, which could take a long time, they're going to have to do some serious rearrangements. This is not something you want to see.

Which routes are being moved out of KB (which depot will get them)?

All that shoving of service down people's throats when service to GCT was first implemented resulted in, was a rollback of a significant enough an amount of peak service to Penn & direct service to/from Atlantic Terminal anyway....

Peak service to Atlantic Terminal has nothing to do with supplemental service for the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Logic would dictate that, but I still think it's more of a longevity thing than a higher frequency thing (as far as riders growing that much more accustomed to GCT service).

In any case, I find that unlike the typical urban commuter, the typical suburban commuter isn't nearly as transit savvy - so they're more apt to latching onto one particular commute/mode/station.....

So catering to people's lack of information is more important than providing information. Got it.

Likely because Nassau/Suffolk patrons are more familiar with Penn than they are with GCT..... It'll take decades for GCT to reach the level of familiarity amongst LIRR riders that Penn currently has.... That parade could've been on 1st av. & I wouldn't doubt for a second that more of the extra service would've still been dedicated to running to/from Penn.

They would get more familiar with it if more trains went there.  (I don't understand why some folks are loyal to Penn at all costs — even, or especially, when GC would be more convenient for them.)

How about using the ROW to extend the IBX from Brooklyn? Or, if keeping the BRT, extending IBX to St. George to connect to BRT services?

Staten Island probably doesn't want direct rail access to the rest of the city (because then the rest of the city would have direct rail access to Staten Island).

Would it be worth extending the MTA’s proposed Q38 route to Myrtle Ave & Fresh Pond Rd from its proposed southern and to Flushing on the north side?

I believe the current proposed routing for the Q38 is weak and I think it will eventually allow the MTA to cut away service. An extended Q38 can provide an alternative to the Q58 and attract new riders.

I wasn't singling out the 98 per se. I felt it was overkill with the 38, 58 and 98 ending in Flushing.

Maybe ditch the Q98 in favor of extending Q38 at both ends (to Ridgewood Terminal and Main Street Station).

NYC Ferry is a real estate project sweetener. They will only kill it as a last resort. It was designed to raise property values, not transport people. In that respect, it is working.

Finally a knowledgeable person who can see behind the curtain. This simple fact should be drummed into the heads of every pom pom waving rah rah (MTA) believing posters out there. My opinion. Carry on.

I wasn't "waving pom poms" — I was merely noting that, instead of "kililng" the ferry system, the City will probably try to shift all the costs to the (MTA). But y'all already knew that.
