On 11/30/2023, Lakeland 46/78/80 will be transferred to NJT due to bankruptcy and fraudulent activities.

46 will be renumbered to 146

78 will be renumbered to 147

80 will be renumbered to 149

The Lower Manhattan line will be numbered 140

The Casino lines will be renumbered 304-306 respectively

    304(Atlantic City - Sparta) Fridays-Sundays

305(Mount Airy Casino Resort- Parsippany) Friday - Sunday

306(Wind Creek Bethlehem- Parsippany) Wednesday -  Sunday

Info gotten of of the user Sylveon.

IF this is true, then couldn't NJT have simply converted those routes to contract operations (with Lakeland as the contractor)?

I regularly take the Middlesex County lines run by Suburban Transit, one of CoachUSA's garages.  They tend to not do certain runs if they do not have the drivers.  For example, if they do not have the drivers to do all the 814 runs, they just do not run it.

Do they then tell NJT that they did run it and send a bill for reimbursement?

How was stengel short when they still have a surplus of buses at the depot? Are the Novas still having teething issues or is it something else?

Because every time bused pull in, maintenance grabs them for inspection "when we get around to it" and they sit there for weeks.

I doubt it, unlike the A&C bus and the routes O.N.E are shutting down, the remaining O.N.E operations are all NJT contracted operation. That means they get paid for the service provided. Something the routes being discontinued never got.

Which makes me wonder why the A&C and ONE routes in question (and the former DeCamp routes, too) couldn't have become contract operations.

Because the MTA knows it would be very successful and they would rather people use the subways than the buses because they are cheaper to operate. They know if they start 20 or 30 minute service, the buses would be jammed and they would have to triple the service.

    (1) Or the route might fail because that tunnel is so unpredictable.

    (2) Presumably, this route would run out of JG. Are CNG buses allowed in the tunnel?

My guess says yes. At $4.50/mile, how many Rockland customers do you need for an additional 10 miles? Back of the napkin calculation yields about 5 passengers to cover the sector in each direction. Most buses carry more than 5 passengers into Rockland County.

Does that include the operator's pay?

These are the routes and service levels of what's left below, more or less. They should actually put out timetables even if just online, using the website sucks.

    Weekdays

    • 9 (New City to PABT): 6 AM trips from New City (4 to PABT, 2 to GWB) & 4 PM trips to New City (2 from PABT, 2 from GWB)
    • 11 (New City to PABT): 2 AM and 2 PM trips each way
    • 20 (Nanuet to PABT): 6 AM trips, 5 PM trips
    • 45 (Mount Ivy to PABT): 8 AM trips (3 from Spring Valley) & 1 PM trip from Spring Valley to PABT, 12 PM trips from PABT to New City
    • 47/49 (New City to PABT): 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM from to PABT, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM to New City

    Saturdays

11X (Spring Valley to PABT): 7 AM - 9 PM to PABT, 8:30 AM - 10:30 PM (Every 120 minutes)

I think Rockland Coaches, with its paltry levels of service and whatnot, will actually hold on probably for a while. Reason being that they've been consolidating operations to Paramus with relative ease here. Way I see it, basically anything they can't take with them to Paramus is a goner.

Why does NJT have to subsidize service in Rockland County?

Train time tells you if a combo ticket is a cheaper option for your trip, so that’s helpful.

From how it’s worded, the combo ticket won’t list destination stations. It will have something like “Origin Station to Grand Central + Combo”. This way they don’t have to program a bunch of station pairs

Would it work with a CityTicket? If I'm traveling from Bayside to Tarrytown, could I start with a CityTicket ? Or would I need a normal off-peak ticket to get the $8 combo?

I'll be curious to see stats on how many combo tickets are sold in a year or so. I'm still not convinced there is much of a market for it, unless the MTA really advertises it well to convince people to take special trips this way. I can't see many people using it for Mon-Fri workweek travel to and from their jobs.

Depends on where those jobs are. If you live in Queens and work in White Plains or Stamford, a combo ticket could be very useful.

The notion of an uncovered trip has squat to do with whether a passenger has to sit or stand.

It has everything to do with whether a passenger has to sit or stand, IF that passenger would have had a seat on the missing trip. If the schedule calls for six trips in a given hour and only four are covered, then lots of people who would have sat will now have to stand. That's basic logic.

But instead of a Q78 extension or a route that mirrors it down Springfield, I'd rather see a route connecting the Bronx with Great Neck. A route going from the Bronx could start somewhere along the (6) line and after going over the bridge cutting through Bayside and connecting with the Q78 around Northern and Bell before continuing over to Great Neck for people to connect with all the NICE buses over there. A route like that opens up connections and destinations that just aren't possible now without a car.

    (1) How much demand is there for a Bronx-to-Great Neck route?

    (2) If I were creating a route over the Throgs Neck Bridge, I'd have it run from Downtown Jamaica via Hillside Avenue, then north on the Clearview Expressway and over the Throgs Neck Bridge to Pelham Bay or Westchester Square. Maybe hop off the Clearview to make stops at Union Turnpike and/or Northern Blvd.

It is, the problem is the (B100)'s frequency is not being increased despite being offered as an alternative.

What are the (B100)'s ridership levels? Can existing service accommodate both current (B100) ridership and current (B2) ridership? Or would they need to add at least a few trips at certain times of day?

Nos. 101, 102, 105, and 109 (Weekdays): The 191D, 192D, 195D, and 199D/K have been renamed and given their own line numbers. Certain routes will feature additional service in the AM and/or PM peak due to increasing ridership. Gates at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and routes within New Jersey remain unchanged.

For 199D/K (becoming 109), the "K" branch could have become 110.
