  1. Same here. I've had 3 jobs since '94. There was one in 2002 or so where I may have got a written warning about being late. I really don't remember if it was written, verbal, or even documented. Do I really need to worry about this?
  2. Jeeze. Will they really not calm someone if they forgot about being reprimanded 5-10 yrs ago about some minor b/s? I'm sure they check previous employment but do they really get a file from previous employers?
  3. Can you elaborate a littlYe more. Why do you think the background check will hurt you? Something criminal or work history?
  4. I know the MTA took over future testing but did they take over this list or is dcas still handling it? I want to call and see what's what. I'm sure they love these calls. Lol
  5. 11/12 is right around the corner. If I remember correctly there is another class at the end of November as well. I'm in the mid 400's and might be getting called much sooner than I expected. I was originally thinking late spring early summer.
  6. I don't know %*#! about the subway. I know there's letter and # lines. If you asked me which goes where I can tell you the 7 goes to Queens. That's probably just about it. This should be fun.
  7. Is someone riding w/ you during probation or are you just monitored extra close? And more importantly, how many signals are there to remember and are they posted somewhere so we can get a jump on it?
  8. How much do they take out for dues? I've never been part of a union so it's all foreign to me.
  9. what's involved in the medical? Typical blood pressure, heart rate etc or a little more in depth than that? I'm healthy, no worries, just curious. What time does class start for you on the 22?
  10. Are you a part of local 100 during school car or not till you pass?
  11. Im not up yet but what are typical school car hours and where? I searched the forum and google but couldn't find any info.
  12. Holy last minute! Lol congrats and good luck.
  13. So they do not check medical history. The only reference to medical history is in regards to earning disabled veterans credits. Nice work. Thanks for clearing that up.
  14. No, of course not. I think there are 2 different discussions going on here. 1st, SHOULD the MTA "ABLE" to see your medical history 2nd, IS the MTA "ALLOWED" to see your medical history My opinion; Of course they should be able to see your history. What if you have a history of seizures or black outs and you leave that off your application because you really need the job? 2 yrs down the line, you have a blackout while operating a train and the next day your picture is on the front page of the NY Post saying "56 dead, 100's injured: MTA put this person in control of your life, did they know he had a history of seizures?" Reality; They are only allowed access to your medical history if you sign a HIPAA release, specificaly saying you allow them to obtain your medical history. No one has said they signed a HIPAA release.
  15. I don't think the issue is whether or not they should be looking into medical history, it's whether or not they are. And whether they are an AUTHORITY (final word in all things mass transit in NYC) or not, they are not above federal law, (HIPAA) and if they want access to medical history, the propper releases must be signed. According to previous posts they didn't ask anyone to sign a HIPAA release. Maybe they do, I don't know, I just haven't read anything yet that says they do.
  16. I'm not saying that can't request it, I'm just saying you need to specifically sign something that says you're waving your HIPPA rights and allowing them access.
  17. Giving him an EKG is part of their medical exam and completely legal. Digging up his previous medical history is an entirely different matter.
  18. I'm in the 450ish range. I wasn't expecting to get called by December but could it really move that fast?
  19. I can't imagine they are over critical of getting exact hire and release dates 100% are they? How far back do they go? Do they want salary and job description as well? Would it make sense for me to get a transcript from SS of my entire work history?
  20. Can't believe it's almost here. I'm #462 and on outstanding certification. I remember hearing something about the 1/3 rule a few yrs ago. What's with the one in three rule? I looked it up but am getting different info everywhere. Some say it's only for promo exams, others say they go down the list and pick 2, dq 1, pick 2, dq 1, others say they pick 1, dq 2, pick 1, dq 2. Someone else says it has something to do with 1 spot left and 3 candidates available, and yet another says they've only seen it applied to list 8006. Should I be concerned with this? I'm having a hard time believing that after 3+ yrs of waiting, I can be knocked out just like that.
