  1. Just a note: When UP gets its Orions, it will no longer be an all-nova depot. :P

Technically its not an all nova depot right now. If you look on the fire extinguisher cover in the front by the stairs, on a majority of their RTS's there will be a blue and black plate that says:

    RTS

    tmc

    Rosewell New Mexico

  2. One training bus isn't really sufficient for a whole depot to train on. Hence CP having 230 and 801.

Those other buses were Zerega training buses. Not WF buses.

Definitely, especially since there's about 900 drivers that need to train on it eventually, and about 500 immediately.

Oh and BTW, I don't know if this counts as a move/transfer but i went to Freshpond today. As I was trying to figure out how to get to the actual maintenance building, I saw the "Pheonix"(no clue if I spelled that right) Mobile Command Center bus in the storage building. What's up with that?? Truthfully, I don't even know what the really use that bus for other than the rodeo. I would think that they would use it in emergency blackout type situations, but every depot has a backup generator for such occasions...

  3. Yeah, I was like WT-? (Sorry, couldn't finish it) Why would they need that bus. It's out of age compared to the rest of the RTS's Quill has which are from 98-99. I wonder if there's a plan for some reason to give Quill the 96's RTS to last a little while more by swaping out something or this is one of those no-sense moves like we saw in the summer. Ex. 5017 & 5135 becoming QV buses for a short time after being loaners since there also different in some by age compared to the RTS over there.

    its probably a loaner...

  4. That's right. NYCT personnel do not get free rides on Bus Company routes (the opposite is true as well). LIB employees do get passes, but they are only valid on LIB. I can't remember what further restrictions there were, but I think it involved express buses.

I caught a good five new (i.e. from post 2009) buses on the way home today, and finally got to see an XD40 up close. That rear seating arrangement will never work in (MTA) territory.

Um, I've never heard of NYCT personnel not being able to ride MTAB buses...As a matter of fact we were told during training that if we were ever denied a free ride by any MTAB operator other than the ones driving express buses, we should take down their pass # and report them. Technically, we're still suppose to pay full fare for express buses. I know that MTAB employees can ride all buses, but have to pay for the subway....
