What if the Metro North used DMUs instead of Locos?

Thats a good point, I mean, keep around trains that can both serve oin electrified and non-electrified tracks but a modern day commuter railline using disel engine sounds a bit ridiculous.

Well the diesels that the MNRR and Amrak use are able to use the third rail. One reason why the whole system isn't electricfied is because of the cost and also some places just don't need a third rail because of low ridership.

But if all the diseal trains MTA has can use electricity cant they get in to the Penn Station or Grand Central? I am saying, I dont think all diesel trains MTA has can convert to use electricity.

Not all just the Genesis locos. They use other locos on the new haven line also but the genesis is their main loco bec they are specially made
