Conjestion on the L.I.E after Tanker truck explodes

1. I wonder why LI highways have streetlights. Most highways in the US don't have them.

 

2. Most highways with an HOV lane have their own exit ramp (i.e. I-84 around Hartford, and I think I-279 in Pittsburgh has them too).

 

3. Shortline: on the New Jersey Turnpike, it goes from a 3-3-3-3 configuration to a 2-3-3-2 configuration south of Exit 9. The roadways merge south of Exit 8A. I think there is a planned expansion of the dual roadways to Exit 6.
