SirJokaPlaya Posted June 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 8, 2010 Major Bus Detour in Weehawken/Union City Issued: June 07, 2010 Beginning Monday, June 14, and continuing through December, the New Jersey Department of Transportation will undertake a major bridge repair project on the North Marginal Avenue bridge over Park Avenue in Weehawken. The project will reduce the number of lanes available to traffic from three to one. To avoid construction delays, several NJ TRANSIT bus routes will operate on detour routes during all phases of construction. Buses that normally serve 31st Street in Union City will instead remain on Route 495 westbound and exit at JFK Boulevard. Most buses will then make a right on 32nd Street and a right on Summit Avenue to serve the bus stop on 31st Street at JFK Boulevard. The following bus stops will not be served: North Marginal Road at Pleasant Avenue 31st Street at Hudson Avenue 31st Street at Palisade Avenue 31st Street at Bergenline Avenue Alternate boarding/discharge locations for Union City customers: Bus Route Nos. 107, 108, 111, 115, 124, 129, 144, 160, 161, 163, 167, 190, 192 and 199: Customers traveling to points west in New Jersey should use the bus stop on 31st Street westbound at JFK Boulevard. Bus Route 121: Westbound customers should use the bus stop on Bergen Turnpike at JFK Boulevard. Bus Route 123: Customers traveling toward Jersey City should use the bus stop on 30th Street at Palisade Avenue (Union City Post Office). Bus Route 125: Customers traveling toward Journal Square should use the bus stop at JFK Boulevard & 28th Street (southbound). Bus Route 127: Customers traveling toward Ridgefield should use the bus stop on Bergen Turnpike at JFK Boulevard (westbound). Bus Route 154: Customers traveling toward Fort Lee should use the bus stop on JFK Boulevard at 32nd Street (northbound). Bus Route 156 Local via Park Avenue: Customers traveling toward Englewood Cliffs should use the bus stop on Park Avenue at Jefferson Street (northbound). Bus Route 159 Local via NY/Bergenline avenues: Customers traveling toward Fort Lee should use the bus stop on New York Avenue at 33rd Street (northbound). While NJ TRANSIT will do everything possible to minimize delays, customers are encouraged to allow extra travel time due to possible construction-related traffic. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. http://www.njtransit.com/sa/sa_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=ServiceAdjustmentTo&AdjustmentId=6771 (No mention of the weekend service on the 191 and 195 but still.....YIKES..what about the local lines that go through this area (84 & 86?) They had no mention of 32nd and Bergenline Avenue Stop (Bank Of America) being affected, so that's alright for the 22, 83, and 85. But the 84P and 86 goes right near that bridge itself, as well as underneath it for trips back to Union City/North Bergen.......so are those buses getting detoured as well?) SirJokaPlaya Posted June 11, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted June 11, 2010 Date was change to July 6th. Gives NJT more time to THINK what they can do. If I can make suggestions: I got 2 better ideas. - Make all buses get off in Hoboken/Weehawken exit, Right on 19th St, Right on Hackensack Plank Road, Right on Pleasant Avenue, Left on 31st Street, Resume Normal Route (Except 123 - Left on Palisades once it gets to what I'm gonna call the 3 corners (Palisades, Hackensack Plank Road, 30th Street); 121-127-154-159- stay straight to 32nd street to resume route since 121-127-154 goes down 32nd to get to Kennedy Blvd/Bergen Blvd and 159 will make the immediate turn to New York Avenue) Have Buses service stops on 19th & Willow & Hackensack Plank Road & Pleasant Avenue) - Make all buses get off in Hoboken/Weehawken exit, Right on 19th St, Right on Hackensack Plank Road, Stay Straight on Hackensack Plank Road, and make a left on 31th Street (Except 123 - Left on Palisades, Resume normal Route; 121-127-154-159- stay straight to 32nd street to resume route since 121-127-154 goes down 32nd to get to Kennedy Blvd/Bergen Blvd and 159 will make the immediate turn to New York Avenue). Have all buses service 19th & Willow, Hackensack Plank @ Pleasant Ave, 3 Corners.
Majestic412 Posted June 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2010 (NJT) Buses are not allowed on Hacensack Plank Road between 19th Street and Pleasant Avenue. Weehawken Police will issue tickets if anyone gets caught! The Weehawken residents don't want us to use that road!
SirJokaPlaya Posted June 13, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted June 13, 2010 interesting since the last few days, there have been multiple buses going that way instead of going all the way to kennedy to service union city due to 30th/31st street getting the repaving job.
