Sun Tran's Very Special Gillig

Sun Tran is operating one very special Gillig - literally.

 

I see #2914 only on route #4 Speedway and only at 7:30 am weekdays.

 

So, what makes this Gillig special?

 

Narrower back door, soft grey carpet through out the bus, the front-half seats are completely upholstered in a soft blue grey fabric, armrests and handholds, nice leg room and an electronic fare box where you swipe your fare card on an angle instead of dipping it.

 

I catch this bus going to school at North Country Club Road and East Speedway from The Ronstadt Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. The ride is nice.

 

I wish Sun Tran had more of these buses in local service here in Tucson, Arizona. They're a very nice Gillig and the electronic farebox is only the second one I've seen/used on a Sun Tran bus,

I got the number wrong. It's 2949. And it has a mate - #2950. Riders enjoy the soft, comfortable front seats on these two buses.
