B3 Via Av U Posted June 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 17, 2015 The MTA is launching a multimedia ad campaign to help the public stay safe at its Metro-North and LIRR railroad crossings. The initiative comes four months after the deadliest crash in Metro-North history when a Harlem Line express train struck an SUV on the tracks at the Commerce Street crossing in Valhalla, killing the vehicle’s driver and five train passengers.Since then, there have been several close calls at other grade crossings in the region, along with efforts by local officials to shut them for good. Truckie Posted June 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 17, 2015 It's sad that a campaign has to attempt to teach people common sense. Unfortunately there hasn't only been several close calls since the Valhalla incident, these close calls have been going on all along. It's only since Valhalla that the more recent ones have been in the media and political spot light.
