B3 Via Av U Posted March 30, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2016 Even though there is a near zero chance of it ever being necessary, has anyone ever given thought to exiting a subway car in an absolute, dire emergency? Considering that subway cars don't have emergency exits accessible to riders (like buses and LIRR/MNRR cars do), it would be significantly harder to exit. Based on my observations, I figured how to exit these cars: NTTs: Go out through the storm door at the end of the car, undo the chain and use the ladder to exit 75-footer SMEEs: Pop open the advertisement panel and push down on the door unlock lever 60/51-footer SMEEs: Exit via the storm door or follow the process for the 75 footers. Are there any other ways to get out?
Fresh Pond Posted March 31, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2016 Cutout a door panel, and walk along the benchwall to the closest emergency exit/station guided by workers who are trained in these types of things...you know, the easiest and safest way.
