New York City Subway timetable adjustments and headway note

Hello there, this week is the second week of the Summer Season and on Monday, public schools are out for summer vacation until September. Although, buses have headway changes, the Subways have too. There are some changes in each line while others don't. Although wait times are measured from the timetables looked at from each line. Timetables vary, some of the lines are updated with excel blocks while others remain with the old style. 

 

June 26 MTA NYC Subway changes: 

 

(1) : 3-4 minutes per train during the rush hours, 5 min headways on weekdays. No changes. https://new.mta.info/document/9426

 

(3) : No changes but a 7 minute wait estimate.  https://new.mta.info/document/9436

 

- (4) : There are 11 trains during the late AM rush that goes out of service instead of 10. 

Before around May 25, 2022: 7:56 AM, 8:20 AM, 8:31 AM, 8:48 AM, 9:32 AM, 9:42 AM, 9:52 AM, 10:05 AM, 10:30 AM, and 10:48 AM 

As of Monday, June 27th, 2022: The times are almost the same except a new departure to Burnside Av is at 9:14 AM at Crown Heights-Utica Av and 10:48 AM goes to Woodlawn instead. It's a Burnside Av train at 10:56 AM going out of service at that station 9 minutes before noon time. 

PM service: The train to Burnside Av that leaves Utica Av at 6:15 PM will be at 6:04 PM instead, 11 minutes earlier than before. 

https://new.mta.info/document/9441 . Rush hour headway varies to 2-5 minutes per train. Middays and late PM hours are at least 6-8 minutes. Nights range of 10-12, late night is every 20 minutes. 

 


** (2) : The AM rush hour trip to New Lots Av departs at 7:28 AM has been changed to 7:02 AM, 25 mins earlier than before. 7:28 AM goes to Flatbush Av instead.   

PM rush remain the same as well. https://new.mta.info/document/9431 . 5-7 minutes during the rush hours. 8-10 minutes middays and part of night. 

** (5) : The routine on the line has some changes during the rush hours:  
AM -> There will be 3 trains to Gun Hill Road on the 2 line, 8:41 AM will be extended to Gun Hill Road instead of E.180 St. 9:27 and 9:49 AM are the 2 that goes to Gun Hill Road but remains. 

The AM rush hour trains leaving Utica Av will end at E.180 St, 8:34 AM. Making it 5 late AM rush hour trains going Express in the Bronx. 

* 8:41 AM to Gun Hill Road, 2-line: 9:15 AM, at E.180 St at 9:27 AM then to Gun Hill Road around 9:36 AM, * 8:34 AM Utica Av to E.180 St: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 9:27 AM, at E.180 St at 9:38 AM, 

* 8:44 AM Utica Av to E.180 St: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 9:38 AM, at E.180 St at 9:48 AM,  * 9:10 AM to E.180 St: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 9:43 AM, at E.180 St at 9:54 AM, 

* 9:27 AM Bowling Green to Gun Hill Road, 2-line: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 9:58 AM, at E.180 St at 10:00 AM, then 1-stop to Gun Hill Road arriving at 10:10 AM,

* 9:27 AM Bowling Green to Gun Hill Road, 2-line: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 10:21 AM, at E.180 St at 10:31 AM, then 1-stop to Gun Hill Road arriving at 10:42 AM,

* 10:51 AM Bowling Green to E.180 St: arrives at 3 Av-149 St at 11:21 AM, at E.180 St at 11:32 AM. 

PM -> * During the wrapping up Brooklyn service between 6:30 PM -7:50 PM, there are 4 trains that terminates at Crown Heights-Utica Av to go out of service, 7:10, 7:20, 7:30 and 7:40 PM. Instead, these trains are now 7:18 PM, 7:30 PM and 7:41 PM. 7:11 PM has been changed to end at Flatbush Av instead. The first late PM rush hour tripper has been changed to leave at 4:54 PM to Utica Av. When arriving, that train will go out of service at 6:15 PM. 

* The 3:55 PM train that leaves Crown Heights -Utica Av to Nereid Av will instead terminate at Dyre Av while the 3:50 PM departure to Flatbush Av will go to Nereid Av instead at E.180 St. Before today, it used to be 4:00 PM then 4:06 PM at Flatbush Av to Nereid Av. There is also another train from Utica Av to Nereid Av besides 5:25 PM, 5:42 PM is the new departure for the train to Nereid Av. 5:45 PM will be the last train to Nereid Av leaving Flatbush Av instead of 5:39 PM.

** Between Flatbush Av and Franklin Av,  149 St-Grand Concourse and E.180 St -> both (2)(5) service are at least 2-4 minutes apart from each other in hours of 6 AM up to 9 PM except AM/PM rush when the (5) is Express in the Bronx. 

 

(6) No changes. Just during the AM rush, some trains play a reverse role on its local/Express routing. Between 9:25 AM up to 10:42 AM, they are local trains between Parkchester and Hunts Point Av, after that, it resumes Express up to 3 Av-138 St. Between 9-10 AM at Brooklyn Bridge, some 6 trains run Express between Hunts Point Av up to Parkchester. 

Rush hour headways are 3-4 minutes. Middays are 4 minutes in Manhattan, select stations in the Bronx is 8 minutes. https://new.mta.info/document/9456

 

(7) : No changes. Headways -> Between 34 St-Hudson Yards and 111 St -> every 2-3 minutes. Between 6-9 AM, local to Hudson Yards from Main St is 3-5 minutes. 6:20-7:30 AM, Express service is every 6 minutes. After 7:30 AM, it's at least 4 minutes per trains. *Some trains leave 2 minutes behind each other b/c some of the local trains turn around at Willets Point during the AM rush. Middays are roughly 4-5 minutes. PM Rush between Main St-34 St Hudson Yards, trains are almost 2-3 minutes per train and peak direction, 34 St-Hudson Yards and Queensboro Plaza.  Local is almost 6 minutes with Express 4-5 minutes during the PM. At night, trains are 5-10 minutes depending on hours.

(B) : No changes, wait time is 10 minutes middays. Rush hours is 6-8 minutes approximant. 

 

(C) : No changes, headways is almost every 10 minutes. https://new.mta.info/document/9471

 

(D): No changes, however, if you're boarding this line around West End line, there is an 18 minute gap leaving Stillwell Av: 6:59 PM and 7:17 PM, and 8:13 PM and 8:31 PM,  https://new.mta.info/document/9486 . 7-10 minute wait overall except late nights. 

 

(E) : Rush hours is every 4-5 minutes. Middays and late PM rush is 6 minutes. Nights until 12 AM is every 10 minutes. No changes. 

 

(F) : https://new.mta.info/document/10366 -> more time reading through arrivals by station.  <F> service not shown, however, still running: 7:07 and 7:29 AM from Coney Island, 4:27 and 4:57 PM from Jamaica-179 St. 

 

(G) : No changes. Service wait is almost every 7-8 minutes during the weekday. 

 

(J) (Z)  : Skip stop is every 5 minutes. The J is every 10 minutes except late nights.

 

(L) : At least every 3-4 minutes per train except late nights. Before AM rush hitting 5 AM and 9 PM up to Midnight, approximant of 5-6 mins. 

 

(M) :  Between 7:30-8:30 AM and 5:20-6:30 PM, Forest Hills-71 Av departures are 5-6 mins apart. To Forest Hills-71 Av is at least 7-10 mins before late nights and at start of 5 AM. -> 8 car train

Weekend 4-car shuttle: 10-12 minutes but may change depends on general order notes. 

 

(N) and (W)  : There are letter codes knowing which train is Local. Also, the 96 St-2 Av departures are labeled as that said line.

At Astoria-Ditmars, between there and Times Sq-42 St, both (N)(W) trains are 5 minutes apart. 

 

(Q) : Timing has some adjustments arriving and departing stations on the entire Broadway and Brighton line. (N) trains to 96 St are incorporated as (Q) trains bypassing Brighton line. 4-8 minutes for a trains.

Remains the same. One afternoon put-in from Coney Island Yard leaves at noon, leaving 36 St-4 Av at 1:39 PM. 

Rush hours is around 6-8 minutes. Regular headways is 10 except late nights. 

 

Franklin Av (S) :  Almost every 10 minutes except late nights

42 St (S) : 3-5 minutes with 2 6-car trains, 2 tracks each. 

Rockaway (S) : 15-20 minutes
