  1. I think they were trying to get used to the software. They already are reprogramming the signs on all the buses.

    Examples:

-The N24 signs to Mitchell Field have been changed.

-The side signs now display the important readings in bold:

    N6 JAMAICA

N6 165 ST TERMINAL (Which is in one reading btw)

    via HEMPSTEAD

-The side signs no longer display the type of street on the via readings.

-The NICE BUS P/R signs are being added as well.

    Orion_1739.jpg

But there are twins! Such as the N22 and N24 starting April 8. They start in Jamaica, share Hillside, and at Franny Lew Seperate, meet again in Mineola and share the same route until Cherry Ln. then seperate until Hicksville Where they will terminate together.

Does anyone think that B103 buses should be rerouted onto 5 Avenue

    Towards Canarsie:

(B103) makes stops at Union Street, 9 street, and at Prospect Avenue, then turn left on 19 street, enter the Prospect Expressway, and then regular routing.

    To Downtown:

Regular Routing until the Prospect Expressway, then off the Expressway at 18 street mid Block between 8 and 9 Avenues, turn right on 7 Avenue, turn left on Prospect Avenue, stop on 5 Avenue, then go up 5 Avenue stopping at 9 street and Union Street, then on Flatbush Avenue to Atlantic Avenue then regular routing.

Over the years the B103 has changed it's routing multiple times. The current change they made involves buses on 5/7 Avs instead of 3 Avenue.

  2. You should really check your proposals on a track map.

    And re:your question:

    (;) Suspended.

    (D) No trains south of West 4 St.

    (E) Trains run via the (F) south of West 4 St, terminating at Av X, Kings Hwy, 18 Av, and Church Av if necessary.

    (G) Trains run in two sections, split at Bedford-Nostrand. No trains south of Hoyt-Schermerhorn St.

    (J) Operates via the (Q) to Coney Island.

    (M) Operates via the (R) to 95 St.

    (N) No trains between Queensboro Plaza and Whitehall St.

    (Q) Suspended.

    (R) Suspended.

    NEXT

The 6 Av FasTrack workers have failed to finish in time and, as a result, the 6 Av Line is closed. Note that the 6 Av local tracks are open south of W4 St.

Well I would just reroute the (R) instead of cutting it.

    Your what if

    (A) Operates to Coney via (D) south of W.4 street

    (B)(C) suspended

    (D) operates to The Rockaways/Lefferts Boulevard

    (E) Operates to 2 Avenue

    (F) operates along Croostown, via the (D) to the (E) then normal, or via Broadway

    (G) Suspended

    (M) service runs as a shuttle from 8PM to 6AM and via 8 Avenue during other times

    ;)

  3. What If

36 street in brooklyn is damaged and impassable. at same time another Avenue M got structural damage by tall 18 wheelers along Brighton line, Also the Rutger tube was destroyed and flooded.

    (A) is rerouted to 205 street

    (C) is extended to 207 street and runs to 2 Avenue

(D)Runs from 9 Avenue to Coney Island

    (E) is rerouted from W.4 Street along the (D) to Atlantic Avenue

    (F) is rerouted to Cranberry Street

    (G) is extended to Forest Hills

    (N)Operates in two sections

    1. Astoria Ditmars Boulevard to Atlantic Avenue

    2. Kings Hwy Brighton Line Station and 59 street 4 Avenue

    (Q) IS SUSPENDED

    (R) runs from 59-95 streets

    (S) extended to Newkirk Plaza

(N)(Q)(R) Trains can't operate along 60 street and Broadway. Only the Southern Tracks of the ManhattanBridge are passable

  4. Well...

The (Q) provides alternate (R) service via 63 St and is local after Jakcson Heights. The (R) turns @ Whitehall, and the (N) is via lower Manhattan.

    (F) service is unchanged.

The (M) runs to 23 St/ Ely Av.

    The (E) is not running.

    (7) service is beefed up.

A shuttle (let's call it the V) runs between Northern Blvd and Jamaica Center.

The Q101 bus is rerouted via Broadway from Steinway St (M)(R) to Northern Blvd MR. There, it follows the Q18 back to its normal route. The (Q101) is also extended to Court Square G M 7.

    NEXT:

A fault line slips and trains cannot pass over Woodhaven/Rockaway Blvd and Junction Blvd.

    Lines affected: (A)(E)(F)(J)(M)(R)(Z)(7)

    (A) operates between 207 and Euclid. The Rockaway Park Shuttle terminates at Howard Beach. Lefferts Boulevard Branch customers can use the Q112 which is extended to Euclid Avenue (A) station.

    (C) IS SUSPENDED.

    (E) runs from Jackson Heights- Roosevelt Avenue or 168 street Washington Heights and WTC (Queens Branch) or Euclid Avenue (168 Branch).

(S)runs between Jamaica Center to Union Turnpike, then to Jamaica 179 street, then to 71 Avenue

    (J) runs in two sections

1.Bewteen Jamaica Center and 111 street

2.Beween Cypress Hills and Broad Street

    (M) runs to Jackson Heights Only

    (R) runs to Jackson Heights

    (Z) starts at Broadway Junction

(Q32) extended to Fl.ushing Main Street

    (7) runs from 74 street to Times Square.

Next: A train derails at the Manhattan Bridge Overpass making (R) tracks only passable.

  5. The N51 is not THE most used route in the NICE system. But the N45 is muchmuchmuchmuch worse. The N45 probably averages 1 or 2 people a trip. The N51 can actually pick up passengers (7:40ish out of Merrick and others). Not all the N51s are empty. Some probably are full 1/3ish. Maybe 1/2 the bus was full at most I've ever seen it.

But today i saw an N51 with an N58 LED display in front, stuck in the middle of transferring screens. Although on the back, it read N51. weird.

Well since the N43 was created the N45 performed at low levels. Before that the N45 was very full. The N43 actually has ridership since it connects Roosevelt Field to Freeport in One Route. Rather than taking the N40/N41 to the N22.

  6. I'll avoid the rather dumb one-shuttle-bus-serving-all-stations route and try to go without shuttle buses at all:

    (B) Runs via the (F) line in both directions from 34 St to Church Av.

    (D) Runs local on CPW, then via the (F) line in both directions from 34 St to Coney Island, then via the (D) back up to 36 St.

    (F) No service south of Kings Highway - take the (D) instead. Selected southbound trains terminate at Church Av.

    (N) No trains between 34 St - Herald Sq and 36 St.

    (Q) No trains between 34 St - Herald Sq and Prospect Park.

    (R) Trains run in three sections:

......Between 71 / Continental Avenue and Whitehall St.

......Between 4 Av / 9 St and 36 St, Brooklyn every 8 minutes.

......Between 36 St and 95 St, Brooklyn.

    (2) No trains between Wall Street and Eastern Parkway - Brooklyn Museum. Runs local in Manhattan.

    (3) No trains between 14 St and Eastern Parkway - Brooklyn Museum.

    (4) No trains between Borough Hall and Utica Av.

    (5) No trains between Bowling Green and Flatbush Av.

    (A) Runs as much service as possible. Extra trains run between Euclid Av and 168 St. Runs local in Brooklyn.

    (C) Service suspended to reduce switching on the A.

    (G) No trains between Hoyt - Schermerhorn St and Church Av.

OK. Three of these trains can still run in one section though.

  7. How would (F) trains terminate at 42nd without blocking the (B)(D)?

    @Your plan:

    (A) No trains between Chambers St and 34 St - Penn Sta. Some trains run via the (F) from Jay St to West 4 St.

    (C) Trains run in two sections, split at Chambers St/World Trade Center.

    (E) Some trains run via the (R) to Whitehall Street.

    NEXT

Due to a switch malfunction, all trains on the 6 Av Local tracks north of West 4 St are forced to operate via 8 Av.

    (;) extended to 168 street

    (C) SUSPENDED

    (D)Normal

    (F) operates via 6 Avenue Express from W.4 street to 42 street

    (M) operates via 8 Avenue

    Next:

There is a bomb that exploded at Atlantic Avenue and Another on the Manny-B. Reroute all services with one shuttle bus running only.

  8. There's actually a MUCH better solution, although it involves a bit more creativity. And every hour? Seriously?

I don't know buses, so I'll just deal with subways.

    (7) To avoid overcrowding, there are no trains between Hunters Point Av and Flushing - Main St. Trains run as connections to the LIRR extra service.

    (E) Limited service. No trains north of Queens Plaza.

    (F) The following service pattern in effect:

......Trains operate at 25 trains per hour during the rush.

......Trains operate in the peak direction only in Queens during the rush hour:

.........AM rush, northbound trains terminate at 145 St. They then proceed southbound to Coney Island as (:( or (D) trains and wait in the yard.

.........Middays, trains run in both directions at 7 tph. In Queens, the switch arrangement allows for this, if Manhattan-bound trains wrong rail between 71 Av and Roosevelt Av. Additional (F) trains operate between Queens Plaza and Coney Island.

.........PM rush, southbound trains originate at 145 St, after having arrived there as (:) or (D) trains.

    (M) No trains between Myrtle Av and 71 / Continental.

    (R) No trains between Northern Bl and 71 / Continental.

LIRR Lots of extra service between Jamaica and Long Island City, and between Flushing and Long Island City.

    NEXT

Queens Blvd Express tracks closed. Provide as much alternative service as possible.

    Well:

    (E) five less trains per hour or a train via local every 6 minutes

    (F) five less trains per hour or a train via local every 8 minutes

    (M) service between Forest Hills and Myrtle Avenue 62 minutes

    (R) service every 15 minutes

  9. NEXT

No (E) trains can pass or stop at 7 Av/53 St. Both local tracks are blocked at 42 St - Bryant Pk.

How would you reroute service? Try to minimize switching at W4 St.

    (E) operate via Broadway via 63 street to Whitehall Street

    (F) Service every hour on 6 Avenue, service at regular frequencies along Crosstown

(M)Service Every 30 minutes From Forest Hills to Myrtle Avenue

    NEXT:

The flushing Line collapsed from the strech of 72-77 streets. The Roosevelt Avenue Station is heavily damaged. Only the Queens Bound Express Track can be used on the IND Queens Boulevard Line. Reroute ALL modes of transportation around the strech (i.e Buses and Subways). I know this is for subways only but lets see what you can come up with.

  10. Good job seeing through my bluff. You pass my test veolia was smart when looking at the routes.

Yes you are correct. However with that said a merger with N48(off-peak only) or parts of N73 can be possible for the N79 to reduce the number of buses on those lightly used routes.

The N50 can be extended to Planview during rush hours to keep it alive, while the N78 would merge with the N50.

  11. I don't know what you mean by near, but I'll try.

1 Extended to New Lots Av via the 3.

2 Runs local between 42 St and Chambers St.

3 No trains between 14 St and New Lots Av.

J/Z No trains south of Delancey - Essex. B Service suspended

D Trains run via the F between 34 St and Coney Island. Shuttles operate from Coney Island to Atlantic - Pacific. N No trains between Atlantic / Pacific and 34 St - Herald Sq

Q No trains between Whitehall St and 34 St - Herald Sq

R No trains between 36 St (Brooklyn) and 34 St - Herald Sq

    NEXT

Cortlandt St R - closed and impassable.

Grand St (B)(D) - closed and impassable.

Provide as much alternate service as possible. Be realistic.

There are many ways to order service

Think of my scenario as a Bdwy/Lex/6/7/8 Avenue Fastrack at the same time

    One Way

    (1) service terminates at 14 street

    (2) service terminates at 14 street

    (3) terminates at 42 street

    Alignment at 14 street

    (1) uses the downtown tracks to relay

    (2) USES THE UPTOWN TRACKS TO RELAY

    (4) service terminates at BB with downtown service running local south of 42 street.

    (5) service operates between BB via (2) routing north of E.180 ST and local uptown south of 42 street

    (6) service terminates at 42 Street

    (N)Operates in two sections

    1.Between Forest Hills-71 and 34 street

    2. Between Atlantic Avenue and Coney Island

    (Q) service suspended North of Prospect Park

    (R) SUSPENDED

    (J) operates in two sections

    1. Between Chambers Street and Jamaica

    2. Between Atlantic Pacific Street and Bay Ridge-95 street

    (M) operates as a shuttle

    (B) IS SUSPENDED

    (D) operates in 2 sections

1.Between 205 street and 2 Avenue via 6 Avenue Local

2.Between Atlantic Avenue and Coney Island

    (F) operates via Crosstown

    (E) operates via 6 Avenue to 2 Avenue

    (G) Suspended

    (A) operates along the (F) between Jay Street and W.4 street

    ©SUSPENDED

    Now for your scenario NX:

    (D) operates in two sections

    1.Beween 205 street and 34 street-6 Avenue

    2. Between 34 street-Broadway and Coney Island

    (N) Service operates below 34 street only

    (Q) Extended via Local to Astoria

    (R) Rerouted to Astoria and operates via Manhattan Bridge

NOTE: Some service begin/end at Whitehall Street towards Bay Ridge

    (J) to Bay Ridge Off-Peak Hours

<R> via Nassau during rush hours to Chambers Street

B operates via Broadway and 63 street to Forest Hills

  12. When anyone can, I want two buses

*Orion VII CNG 7701 with MTA New York City Bus Signage signed as a Q111 sign with Jamaica Depot Stickers

*Orion VII CNG 7786 with MTA NewYork City Bus Signange signed as a Q112 to Broadway Junction with Jackie Gleason Stickers

    Would really appreciated;)

  13. Only ME! No really takes the 79 from East of Hicksville to West of Hicksville.

True. At Hicksville, most riders get off the bus. Then other people get on the bus. At the most 5 people stay on the bus at Hicksville. Same for the Q47. Most people just off the bus at Roosevelt Avenue to take the train. At max 4 riders stay on the bus. I wonder if the N23 will be interlined with another bus line or if it will not interline anymore since the N23 is interlined with the N79 currently. The N79 was made at first to serve areas without the LIRR to connect to the LIRR. That's bascially why NICE and SCT are about.

  14. Introduce new non-stop service between NCC and Hempstead during school days.

N2/N8: Loop. N2 Clockwise and N8 Counterclockwise Loops.

No Franklin Av service between Dutch Broadway & Hempstead Turnpike.

    N20 and N21

N21 Peak Hours, and timed to meet N27 bus.

    N23

    Peak hours current route

Middays, Night, Weekend, follows N27 south of Hillside Av.

Middays have 60 Charles Lindbergh Blvd.

Mineola passenger have to transfer to N22.

N24: Giving one seat ride to/from Jamaica & Hicksville via Old County Rd.

60 Charles Linderbegh Branch discontinue and replace by N16, N23 Midday, N27 Peak.

N43: Extend from Roosevelt Field Mall to Hempstead Transit Center via N35 route (similar to what M57 does.

    N27:

    Peak: Normal.

Midday/Night/Weekend: Ends at Roslyn Station, require transfer to N23.

No bus service along Roslyn Rd bet. Roslyn Station and Hillside Av.

N78/N79: West of Hicksville Station replaced by N24 via Old County Rd.

Coordinating N14/N57/N58 to meet train schedule.

They said, N14 did not work because it doesn't meet the train schedule.

In Morning, N14 will meet train going to Penn Station, and in Evening, N14 schedule to meet arriving train.

    Same thing with N57/N58.

N62 to operate Peak Hours only.

N4: All trips operate between Freeport & Jamaica.

NICE Plan to do in future.

GPS Tracking similar to CooCoo or MTA Bus Time.

System Wide Transfer Communication similar what HART CT does like:

HART #3 (To Danbury-Brewster Shuttle): When are you arriving Parking Lot #2. I'm running few minutes late...

HART DBS: I should be there in... minutes.

Installation of TSP for buses making left turn at busy street.

At Great Neck Library meeting, I asked if they interviewed any LIRR Riders who takes LIB/NICE Bus and they said no.

I also asked about NICE Bus will cross-honor LIRR ticket in case of break down, mechanical problem which LIB did not cross honor LIRR Tickets and they said yes.

They also planning to coordinate schedules with SCT.

I sent a message to NICE to make a system like that.

  15. Next problem:

An incident leaves the Central Park West Line impassable between 59 Street and 125 Street. How could you change service?

    (A) Runs in 3 sections:

    1:Local from 125-207 street

2:Local From 59 street via 6 Avenue to 2 Avenue

3:Local From Jay Street to the Rockaways

    (;)©is Suspended

    (D) operates in 4 sections

    1:From 205 street to 125 street

2:From 59 street to Euclid via 8 Avenue Express

3.From Jamaica 179 street via 53 street to 2 Avenue via Queens Boulevard Local/6 Avenue Express

4: Forest Hills-71 Avenue via Broadway Local-4 Avenue to Coney Island

    (E) operates to Lefferts Blvd

    (F) Operates regular but via 53 street

    (M)Operates to 59 street

    (N)(R) operates to Astoria Blvd

    (Q) operates between Coney Island and 21 STREET-Queensbridge via 6 Avenue with limited Brighton Express Service

(Q101) rerouted to serve 21 street Queensbridge then Queens Plaza via 37/38 Avenues and 21 street as well as Queens Plaza

    Foamers Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. I just watched this on TV.

Service cuts coming to NICE buses with low ridership | 7online.com

It is about the changes. In the report, there is also footage of them wrapping the new buses.

The problem is nice promised the public no services eliminated, but on top of that they are creating more services.

    One example is thee N22.

If NICE puts new service, then well this will be the following

N22: Local Service Between Hicksville and Jamaica

N22A:Local service via Roosevelt Field and Jamaica

N22L: Limited Service between Hicksville and Jamaica

N22X: Operates between Hicksville and and Jamaica Non-stop from Roosevelt Field to 179 street subway station

Thats just overkill for one route number, dont you think?
