  1. That's an interesting turn of events.

I could see the R40, R42, and maybe even R16 6387 (it's been in the shop for a while now) in that mix. The R40M at Concourse Yard hasn't moved in years. Who knows if those might make it... Then there's the R38 pair at Pitkin that was restored in 2009, but hasn't been in operation in years as well.

Then you have the preserved R32 cars....

That's possible, actually. That, or maybe to shift cars around, who knows. The R40 pair's to be restored sometime this Summer.

    Don't forget about the R30 and R11
  2. Everyone is acting like the (R) never had R32's. They ran on the (R) for many years. Jamaica ran them for many years and around 2007-2010 they ran more often on the (R) and (V) lines.

Some people have never see it before and some would like to ride it again after a while. We get tired of the same thing over and over again
  3. Hey guys? Any ideas what's currently happening at 207th Street Yard today?

I just drove by 207th Street Yard along 10th Avenue a while ago and saw briefly some movement going on; the Arnines (381, 401, 1000, 1300, 1802) are parked right outside the shops. Saw some people in front if the shop...looked pretty busy in there.

I also saw car 103 by herself with the R30 storage pair (8481/8522) and I never noticed they painted the front end of the car in green while the rest of the car's in primer red still.

Also, R42 4572-73 were moved and hooked up to the R40 pair, 4280-81. The TOMC R33MLs were moved somewhere else I assume; didn't see em in front of the shop when I drove past.

The R42s are hooked up with the R40s because they're going to run as part of a fan trip to the Rockaways in August
  4. Those R42 (J) trains are roomy as far as if the train got crowded, there's a lot of room to stand. Nice and wide. They do need to clean the outside, though. As for an R32 (E), i'll wait for confirmation from someone.

If Jamaica Yard had an R32,I highly doubt they would throw one on the (E) again. It would be nice, after all I did grow up with that train. But if one does get thrown on there, you're gonna hear complaints from the (E) riders again
  5. Next Weekend some R32's will be transfered over the (R) for EPA vibration Testing between 77th st and 95th ave, the (R) will be half R32 and half R46, this was confirmed by 3-4 TA sources, its just for that weekend note they will run the whole route, this was all over Facebook and saw the proof for myself

I thought it would be just one R32
  6. R62s are another possibility, as Livonia will be the closest accessible yard to the (2). This certainly isn't likely, but we could see a set or two of R62s return to the (4) this weekend, again because Livonia is right there and the (4) will be extended all weekend.

On the express thing, good question. Doesn't really make sense. There's a GO on the northbound local sending everything express north of Grand Central, but the (5) running local is a mystery. If there was a GO on the express track, everything would be sent local. Maybe they finally got the hint and put additional local service on the line?

They don't put R62s on the (4) in this G.O.
  7. Yup, Coach USA charges $16 for the EWR express and puts people on NABIs and RTSes mostly now.

Also we're forgetting all the hybrids are being converted to diesel at MTA Bus. The problem with hybrids built for stop and go traffic running a highway route will be solved, eventually...

Can anyone ride it? Do you have to fly in order to ride it?
  8. Yup, they're not in service they just running around being tested. But S.I. isn't getting them right now so its between Queens & UP but I haven't seen or heard anything over here at UP so i'm guessing they went back to Jersey or Zerega.

Yup its 2490 + But they're late I think they were suppose to arrive last month IIRC.

Wasn't there supposed to be demos as well?
  9. Exactly what it sounds like. The train hits something slick on the track (often moist leaves, but could be ice or another slick substance/item) that causes it to slide, sometimes locking an axle. When an axle is locked, its wheels are dragged along the track at speed, causing a flat spot to develop as the wheel is ground down.

Yeah that ride was nice and it sounded good! And the best part was.....there was no train traffic!
