The R32s have sitting idle for nearly two months, I don't think they could just dump them back in service like they have been running every day. I would imagine they would need inspection, some mechanical work done, etc. The 32s still might eventually return..

Thats why they haven't been put into service right away. The sets that are good for service are being prepped. In a few days time a few should pop up.

So since the R142/A’s are almost 20 years old, are they expected to be replaced in the next 10 years, or are they going to be the R32/42’s of the IRT and hit 45-50 years in service?

I could definitely see them pushing 40-50 easy. The R142/As are due for major upgrades in 2-3 years anyways in prep for CBTC.

For the (1) , they rarely use the express track to make up for lost time and just use the local track. But the section from 207th St to 238th St are used often for relay and yard moves.

I've never seen the express section between 96th St and 137th St be used, except to lay up (2) trains when they're ending at 96th St.

The middle track is usually used overnights to layup extra (3) trains.

The (2) , aka " the Beast" originally ran from 241st St White Plains Road to New Lots Avenue in Brooklyn. Local stops in the Bronx and Brooklyn. The present day " Beast " also makes local stops in Manhattan overnight on the way to Flatbush-Brooklyn College. It's counterpart is the overnight (A) from 207th Street Manhattan making all local stops to Far Rockaway. Either one is a guaranteed workhorse,  mainly for people with little seniority or gluttons for punishment,  IMO. My opinion.  Carry on.

I'm not an employee, but based on the length, number of stops, and ridership (both the people who ride and the number of people who ride -- especially outside of Brooklyn), I think I have an idea.

Ahh gotcha, in that case the name definitely seems fitting then lol, thanks guys!

Whom ever made up that rumor about the R32’s being down to 80 cars is a tool. The consists listed on the so called retired list are IN SERVICE as I type. I operated in them. 3894/3895 etc!

Wow. So with that being said, there's still over 100 of them running right?

    Part Suspended  Posted: 03/04/2020  7:10PM

There are delays and service changes on the (1) line while we investigate an issue with the operation of the Broadway Bridge.

There is no (1) train service between 215 St and 242 St-Van Cortlandt Park.

Some northbound (1) trains will end at 137 St-City College. The remaining northbound (1) trains will end at 215 St.

Use (A) train service to 207 St, then transfer to the Bx7 bus. We are in the process of establishing a bus shuttle to replace (1) train service.

    Update:

Multiple Impacts  Posted: 3/4/20 7:27 PM

There are delays and service changes on the (2) and (5) trains while we get emergency medical assistance for the conductor on a train at Beverly Rd.

There is no (2) and (5) service between Franklin Av and Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College.

Southbound (5) trains will end at Utica Av.

Southbound (2) trains will end at New Lots Av.

C/R got stabbed at Beverly Road. smh

Our trains are so nerfed. They barely reach 45 on the Rockaway Flats. Anything above that has to be grade aided.

If you have a good T/O who knows how to clear the timers down there,  60 is definitely achievable. I remember some time back someone said an R68A N and an R160 Siemens were hitting 60 and 65 easily on the queens bound side.

Probably because they want all the Alstom sets to be transferred first.

Stupid question, forgive me lol. but Is there a specific reason they want the Alstoms at Jamaica first as opposed to the Siemens? Is it because most of the CBTC Retrofits were done on the Alstoms first?

On an interesting note from the IRT, Westchester set 2470-2475 is now apart of the (1). Just spotted a few days ago heading northbound.

I just saw it at 14th a few mins ago. Its been there for 2 months I believe, wonder if its permanent or just a loan
