  1. Since always, it's just the initialized versions of their original names. (most ops say it by their names, but it's mostly used on the inside)

    -EDIT-

So they're finally rolling out these new programs, only on the M15 as of now. Shot these today.

This is actually awesome, I would want all SBS services to have something like that, but I would want the text to be black on a blue background or like @Culver said a different color text on a black background

  2. What I meant by X8X and X9X were the specific run numbers, with the first X being the bus route, the second one being the number based on order leaving the depot (ex: 181, 291, 481, etc...). I see the X9X runs in the afternoon, but seen the X8X once in the morning hours. My guess would be that the X8X runs are based in the morning, while the X9X are based in the afternoon.

Another question relating to Spring Creek: Are they trying to get rid of all the full-time runs (and have part-timers instead), or are they going to maintain full-time runs?

I have no idea, i think the ppl at scheduling might just make the whole depot part time and just keep the full time runs for the f/t drivers until they retire

  3. probably those who are eligible to retire or bolting are going and their replacing them with the part timers, also how can you tell that he is a part timer via the run #?

Well I spoke to a B/O and all the "irregular run #'s " are part time

like run 291 for example is a four hour run and like 46 is 5 hrs all on the B100 but like 201 is 8rs all on the BM2

Edit: Above examples are fully accurate it comes from stealing paddle reports and talking to b/o's and stuff

  4. The problem with BM buses is some of the drivers are just awful.  They leave the terminal late, then hit traffic, and then make no effort to get back on schedule, so you have very late buses.  The schedules require them to actually drive and not like old ladies either, which is part of the problem.  I've been on some BM3 Super Express buses that were just incredible.  We crawled all through Kensington and along Ocean Avenue. I couldn't believe how long it took to get to Emmons Avenue. I wonder if those part-timers try to milk overtime...

I have had very quick BM1 and BM4 drivers though.  You can get to Gerritsen Beach very quickly with a good driver.

The BM's are the ones that least use the Gowanus, but the ones that are behind schedule most of the time. I'd bet every BM through the battery tunnel is late except the first few AM and last few PM trips. Those bus schedules are woefully inadequate. A BM1 trip from end to end to Mill Basim takes as much as two hours during the PM hours, but that mainly starts off with the traffoc conditions on 57 Street. For some reason, westbound traffic is always clogged during midday hours, as well as the rush hours (which is understanding). Eastbound traffic is a hit or a miss during middays. On top of buses leaving their terminals late, and you have a recipe for disaster. I wish the buses were allowed to use the side streets instead of 57 Street (because that's how bad traffic is).

I also wish that the BM's had a straighter path instead of the current alignment. The current alignment is also too trafic prone. I dont know if buses would have enough space, but the BM1 and BM2 could utilize the current BM3 & BM4 routing.until Church, then stay to the right and go onto.Beverely Road, then go down Ocean Avenue (BM1) and Flatbush Avenue (BM2). The buses in the opposite direction would do the same except they could turn onto Ocean Pkwy and go north from there into Manhattan. Possibly, the BM3 and BM4 could also be straightened to that alignment as well.

    Amen to both

These part timers are something else the other day had a guy who was part timer (his run number let me know) who took 2hrs from 23st/3ave to the end on the BM1 but had this full timer woman (she was beautiful too some eye candy as a bonus lmao) got into lower mahattan in 35 minutes from sheepshead on the 3, it is really frustrating taking the bus they are always late, I don't do it very often anymore. Yesterday while on the 1 I thought that the BM1 & 2 should just take prospect expwy all the way down and make a left on cortelyou, would be easier for everybody

Speaking of spring creek does anyone know whether the depot is taking on an extra route or expanding service? Its just that for the past 10 months-ish i have seen so many new drivers training, just too much. Does anyone have any info?

  5. I have a question about the N reroute overnight. I am aware that it both bypasses dntwn Manhattan but stops at Dekalb.

    1. What is the MTA doing this. Why cant the N be sent over its regular tracks to Atlantic terminal

    2. Is there a program on the R160 for the Dekalb stop during this G.O.

    Thanks

  6. Today I tooke the R to school and avoided the transferring fiasco at Atlantic-Barclays especially today with all the delays in the AM. I realize that this is a better way to get to Manhattan every day than schlepping through Atlantic before standing in a crowded train, highly recommend

  7. I like the M39 and I have beeb thinking about it for a while

I think this bus route needs to be extended in both locations

Shit id even make it a limited only line like the 103

but i think it has to run via the B32

routing from Williamsburg starting at Franklin and greenpoint to WBP, it would loop around the plaza and come over the Williamsburg bridge. In the city I would have it run up 2nd before terminating at 34th

this bus would be mainly to serve the ppl in Williamsburg but if this provides supplemental service to the 15 (or even SAS?) Thats fine too

  8. Same reason NTT's can't be on the (1), because all the doors on a R142 have to open, not just 5 cars.

Pshhhh really? Many people mentioned it already the reason the R142's are not on the 1 is because the crew is not trained to use em, and after an incident involving all the doors opening (oh those darn conductors are up to it again  :P) they are not allowed on the (1), idk what the policy for the 3 is tho

  9. Delays  Posted: 01/09/2015  7:00PM

Due to an investigation of a customer injury at Broadway, n.png and q.png trains are running with delays in both directions.

    Allow additional travel time.

Did someone get hit by a train yesterday? From my experience that's the jargon for one something like this happens

  10. I have an idea:

If it is possible to expand the lex local capacity while building a switch at G.C. from the 7 so that it would run down lex to city hall (or bowling green if it is so required that the trains are on lex express) so that flushing line gets a one seat ride downtown

  11.

Today from 2:52 to 3:12 I was just standing at Queens Plaza for an E train to come!

Yep I feel you all day today the trains are terrible I dont know whats going on im on a Q right now after waiting forit at Barclays for 15 mins

The 2/3 Was also messed up as 2's were going via lex and I spent 10 mins there

Coming fron downtown shouldn't take more than an hour

  12. something needs to be done about the signals on church ( Brighton line) 3 times this month I was stuck on the B because the signal wouldn't turn green, this morning stood there for 10 mins :/

    I have a question

for super long routes does it ever happen that there is a crew change mid route e.g. at jay-metrotech for the A

  13. I think its more of a protocol thing. I am sure nothing happened to the bus, and I bet the B/O would've been able to continue his run and not report it. The thing is if there was a supervisor siting nearby or the mechanic noticed a dent or scratch on the bumper, the B/O would've been in deeper shit thatn just a drug test
