As i said before i dont think you can be a conductor and take the open competitive exam as train operator and its considered as a promotion. I strongly believe you will have to give up your position as a conductor to be a train operator. I believe the only way you can be a conductor and become a train operator and go back to a conductor within 1 year is if you take the train operator exam under a promotional exam.
The way you can get a definite answer is by calling the union and asking for the upgrade fund department 7187808700. I asked this question myself because i am a bus operator. Im on the list for train operator and because of the answer they gave me i applied for train operator (promotion)
Yes thats under promotion correct. Because if you are a conductor and take the position of a train operator under open competitive i was told you cant just decide that you want to go back to your old position just like that. I was told if you took train operator as a promotion that is the only way you can go back tonyour old title within 1 year.
Yea i get what you saying. Its so meased up that mta makes much less as a train operator than amtrak, nynj path, lirr, and metro. Really sucks. Especially knowing path engineers as they are called have a short trip from ny to nj and only carries 6 cars. Where nyc train operatora carry 10+ cars
I doubt it but that i'm not sure. But you will be restricted trying to get yourself back to good health. Because you dont want to be put out of service because you wont get paid for that
Im assuming. I read somewhere on this forumn that there was talk about extending t/o exam 8098. Si ce i see they postponed the promotion exam and cancelled the open competitive thats what im thinking happened
I think they extended this exam. Midnite was suppose to be the opening of promotional train operator exam. It has been postponed, and the filing for the open competitive train operator exam previously sceduled for december has been cancelled
Im way up there in the 5000s
I highly doubt they get to my number
Its crazy that there are 11078 people thats eligible are on this list. And only 3344 have be appointed..
Ok got it..one time i was under a conductor list number and i received a letter offering me a position of bus operator. I took it. Another time i was under track worker exam and i received a letter stating that by the time the list expires my number will not be called but they offered me a position of a cleaner which i denied
just found out the last class they will have for bus operator 8094 is Novemeber 4th. Anyone on the list for 8094 bus operator will only be called for conductor if they are not in the class for Novemeber 4th
