  5. Sorry for all the questions, but can someone also explain or breakdown mta's pension plan for a track worker versus a pension from say working for the sanitation? i thought i heard someone say you get a full pension if you work for the mta as opposed to 50% as in the city jobs but this doesnt seem true to me. any info?
  6. Would having a CDL help you in any way in terms of moving to a better division or getting better pay? Any info?
  7. Wow all this info is great. I hope once the old list expires in feb 2015 they start hiring right way from the new list.
  8. Thanks for all the info, also, does a newly hired mta track worker fall under that new tier 6 nonsense where they take 1/2 of your ss when you become of age, or are they under a separate entity?
  9. thanks for taking the time out to provide me with a lengthy reply, btw, would you take sanitation or track worker if both agencies called you around the same time and why? haha
  10. I read on the exam notice that top hourly rate is $29 an hour. it is possible to make over 100k without promotions ?

  15. Hey guys, i know its been quiet around here, i guess mainly due to the fact we probably wont hear anything for quite some time. However, anyone on the job or know someone that can give me some insight? Hows the job? hows the pay? someone in a previous post explained something about you have to a choice to go into "capital"? can anyone elaborate haha. what the hiring process like - are they strict on who they take, or can i guy like me with no experience get on? And i know that its up to the individual, but what would you say is a better job in terms of pay, pension, benefits etc...........track worker or city job like police, fire, sanitation? Anyone opinions would be great!
  16. Hey guys, Happy holidays to All! Soo does anybody have a good idea as to what the whole hiring process like? do you get a letter stating to come in for a medical or something of that nature, after the list is established obviously? Is there an intense background/ investigation? Whats the training like ! If someone has any details that would be great!
  17. Things have been pretty quiet around here haha, so any rough estimate as to when we'll hear anything? Also, whats the whole hiring process like? do you get a letter stating to come in for a medical or something of that nature, after the list is established obviously? If someone has any details that would be great!
  18. Good to hear that it's a good paying job, would you be able to explain exactly what "capital" means ?
  19. Thanks for your quick response! That's good to here about the job security, I'm a college student and I would love to have a career with the MTA. Also, some bad news, I have an online subscripition to the chief leader, and there was an article posted on Oct 3rd which stated the last Track Worker's exam list has been extended yet again:( "Track Worker Exam 5016 Extended Whereas a restriction against the filling of vacancies due to budgetary constraints has limited the number of Track Workers the New York City Transit Authority has been able to appoint, the duration of the existing eligible list for for that title, No. 5016, has been extended to March 14, 2015. The Department of Citywide Administrative Services established list 5016 in March 2009. The exam was held April 22-23, 2006." Well guys, as you can see this list was established in 2009, meaning 2015 would make it a 6-year long list. Guess patience is a virtue. Any Thoughts?
