They should, as a suggestion to the MTA. But, the problem is Concourse Yard's management wanting only R68 and R68A for the Yard lay-up. Otherwise, the (B) trains out of C.I and Stillwell Yard rotates some of their sets from the (N) and (Q) during the weekend.

Can you help me understand why Concourse only wants 68s not 46s ? Besides if a train breaks down

  2. Astoria CBTC is on the table but it’s not going to be done for a WHILE ! Why people keep excusing the fact that other lines like 6th Ave , Culver , Crosstown and Lexington have way more priority that Astoria.

This is my own speculation but I wouldn’t be surprised if MTA Bus received those 2011 LFS’s from JA and QV.
MTA Bus from the last I’ve heard is suppose to get brand new LFS’s of their own so I don’t think it’s far fetched to think that they will get those buses to become familiar with the LFS.

Was those 2011 LFS federal funded ? If not then I can see that happening especially if NYCT has a surplus of buses

  4. The excuses and reasons for Broadway to NTTs are funny. Some of you guys say “ the destination “. Okay. So when I a train pul into the station , don’t the train has the route bullet. Another thing , when your in a station don’t it says “ Uptown & Queen  “ or “ Downtown and Brooklyn “. I’ll do even better , on the platform doesn’t it always  to Coney Island or  to 96- 2 Ave. Most commuters don’t care about if it’s new or old. It’s just getting from point A to point B. The R68/A are one of the most reliable cars we have. It’s a shame how y’all down play them. CIY would be happy to have them. So all the destination , LCD screen problem is straight crack. All y’all know how to get home right ???

See, just one problem with that.

    Rollsign Switching at Ditmars

Many T/O’s and C/D’s have been complaining about the situation with SMEES. They will have to switch upwards of 20 rollsigns from the (W) to (N) (R68) or Vice versa, make sure the train is ready to go, and make sure there are no wrong rollsigns all in a 7 minute timeframe. So we have to put as many NTTs as we can on those lines. My opinion, carry on.

Honestly , that’s apart of there jobs. If MTA never went NTT they’ll still have to do. They’re just being spoiled. My opinion though

The (B) going to Concourse is just a rumor and now that Astoria CBTC is back on the table, It's best to Leave the (B) at Coney Island and just have it use R160's along with the (N) and (W). By the time Astoria gets CBTC (I would say around 2027-28 ish), The R211 order would be complete if all options are exercised.

Let the (D) get a fresh new fleet of R211's while Jamaica Gets a batch to push the R160's back to CI for the (B)(N)(W). I think that's whats going to happen anyway.

Honestly I think CBTC for Astoria is a waste because the Astoria Line is only from Queensboro to Astoria which is like 6 to 7 stops. If we want to go to the over crowding with Astoria , they can simple just add more trains pre hour on the (N) and (W) because the R211 order isn’t just for CBTC lines it’s also for fleet expansion      They might just have the R211 on the 8th/6th Ave lines. The (N)(Q)(W) might get some split some R160 with (D)(B) but the Coney Island will main have to deal with the R68/As until they’re retired and then the whole B Division we be all NTTs

I just hope that sending the B to Concourse will allow the B to run between Bedford Park and Brighton Beach from 5 am to 11pm Monday to Fridays and it will allow the B to run between Bedford Park and 2nd Ave/Houston from 5am to 11pm.

CPW and Concourse can really get a boost in off peak local service. Also, weekend track work on CPW doesn't happen too often.

Yeah the service is really needed ! Especially on  the weekend

Concourse can only handle one car fleet. Therefore, the D will only get either the r160's from Jamaica or the r211A's. Also, I don't think the D will get open gangway trains. It's not as crowded as the A, E,  or F. Also, the B may go to Concourse.

As for Jamaica getting r211's, it all depends on how many open gangway trains that are included in the option orders.

IMO the E should get the base order of open gangway trains (20 cars).

The (B) is slated to Concourse in the future. It was said a few pages back. The MTA wants all CBTC all in one yard , with makes sense , just like how they have the SBS routes all in one depot (MJQ & Gun Hill) and of course how Jamaica Yard (E)(F)(G)(R)

Because there's no need to put it on buses that's approaching their retirement age....waste of money.

Speaking on retirement age. Is it a mandate to retire a bus when they reach 12 years old. What if it’s still doing good in its 12th year. Do they still retire it because of its age. For Example the RTS we’re here a good amount of time

Nah...this order was never meant for a total replacement of the MCI fleet. Every express bus order we've had, we've always had MCIs left over.

There's other express bus orders pending for NYCT and MTA Bus for the current capital plan, so those orders will eventually replace the leftover MCIs.

Speaking of future orders. I know currently that the Express Fleet is currently Prevost but I wonder if they’re going to order from MCI again because they have an electric of the D or J 4500s ( can’t remember which one ) and the TA has a goal of all electric nurses by a specific time
