  1. I hope I don't have to do with this one what I did with Sanitation. Scored above 100 and had to forget about it; not high enough.
  2. For anyone like me, whose circumstances are depending on this job, I share this: Sent: Sunday, November 27, 2016 9:01 PM To: Exams Unit Subject: Exam 6601 Inquiry "Hello, my name is Maximo Filpo. I took the Conductor Exam #6601 last April. Are there any updates regarding the list to be established?" Reply from Exams Unit: ------"For Conductor, Exam # 6601: if you kept a record of answers, you will be able to calculate your score by checking the answer key, Click on the link and it will take you to the website for the proposed answer keys: http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/proposed_answerkey.htm Your official score will be mailed to you when the list is established in about 2 years." I contacted them recently with the question above and that is what they wrote. I don't know if 2017 is truly the year they'll be hiring, like the many future transit retirees have told me; maybe just for promotional. I'll be focusing on other survival jobs for now.
  3. I fell upon a gold mine of MTA info recently. Check this out and scroll down to the "Headcount" section and also the "Agency Financial Plans" section (Look under NYCT). This will give you an idea of what they're planning on doing for the next 3 years including staffing. I found it very interesting to know the amount of money they're dealing with and where it all goes. Also, you can see 2017 is a big year. Check it out! http://web.mta.info/news/pdf/MTA_2017_Preliminary_Budget_July_Financial_Plan_2017_2020_Volume_2.pdf
  4. Wow, congrats on that. At least you'll have a foot in the door. Good luck with the process.
  5. I called the MTA employment center today and it looks like it's way too early for them to disclose any info on 6601. That, plus the female who answered the phone wasn't too big on customer service. Nothing has been established with 6601 as of yet. I'll see you guys here after Christmas. I'll be trying to survive with my shit job in the meantime.
  6. Disclaimer: This comment is not intended to give any false hopes, just some insight I received from veteran MTA employees. Don't take it up the ass. I work in the city in a store where the last stop of a bus route is located. Loads of MTA employees and supervisors walk into my store to use the restrooms. Since I'm on the list for Conductor now, obviously, I am someone who is highly interested in obtaining any info on their hiring needs, so I ask most of them about it when they come in. Most of the guys I've talked to have been working for the MTA for 15-18 years. One guy worked there for 20 and he started off as a Station Agent > Conductor > and finally, Bus Operator. This man told me that 2017 is the year a CLUSTER of Train Operators are retiring, therefore giving current Conductors promotions, and I quote "Burning through the Conductor promotional list" which is the list before ours. This man also told me that the MTA is "basically, giving away money" next year with the amount of people they will hire and need in 2017; this is from our list. I then told him I scored between a 98-97...this man shook my hand and said "you're good, you should be in the first batch by like the end of next year". The supervisors who went to my store to pee also gave me similar responses. Take it how you want it; but after those conversations, I'm very optimistic about 2017.
  7. This was posted today. I check the MTA website occasionally and saw that they've updated their stuff. "MTA NYC Transit Conductor, Exam No. 6601Thank you for applying for MTA NYC Transit Conductor, Exam No. 6601. Please take a moment and read the important information below. 8. I applied for Conductor Trainee for MNRR; I think that's the one you were talking about? It was a pretty simple application and the requirements were pretty reasonable; I never got called. Finally! I've been hoping to hear from someone on the inside. I wanted to ask you about the reality of being a Conductor or just working for Transit/MTA in general. What's the life like? Is there a good work/life balance? Also, have you ever seen any of your coworkers continuing college?
  9. Does anyone here have an idea of how the workday will be as a conductor? What's the work/life balance? Do any conductors or other transit employees have time to go to school on the side? What are the shifts like? I've been told before that the first year is the hardest and you get moved around a lot but I haven't really seen anyone on here describing the job and the life of a conductor. We've been mostly concerned with our scores but can a knowledgeable person (in transit matters) speak on this? Thanks!
  10. So, someone previously mentioned the protests are now over? Does this mean they'll be releasing a "Final" answer key in the very near future?
  11. Yeah, that's a very interesting statement there; interesting grammar.
  12. Thanks for pointing me in that thread's direction; very good info there. Soon, we will be those guys. If they reached past 5,000 with our list then I think most of us on here should be good. I missed 3 questions but I'm hoping for a revised final answer key.
  13. I took the 4/24 PM and I got 26, 61, and 74 wrong. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the protest yesterday to at least see what these questions consisted of.
  14. If you guys are referring to Sanitation exam 5001, I'll let you know that it seemed like the entire state of NY took that one. My score was 100.7140. About 4,000 other people scored that same number....My list number was 6,265. I've been told countless times by employees working more than a decade in DSNY to forget about getting a call, unless a miracle by God himself happens. If anyone here saw what exam 5001 looked like IN PERSON, they would feel much better about this Conductor exam. I know with 3 questions wrong, I feel great (comparing to 5001). Oh yeah...the guy at the number 1 spot in 5001, scored an impeccable 133.5710 with every damn credit known to man. 68,720 is the last number on that list.
  15. Keep in mind that this is the internet and basically anyone can pull a statement out of their ass and make it sound pretty. Take your estimated score, attend your respective protest session if you can and just wait for an official word from transit themselves. Until then, don't go crazy over all this chit chat from non-officials.
  16. Exactly. The final key still needs to be released and the list isn't even close yet. I'll start making conclusions when I see my list number an eternity from now. For now, I have to keep working shitty jobs.
  17. I have here: 7/12/16 From 1:30pm to 3:30pm. at 180 Livingston St, Room 4041.
  18. Same here I was hoping to miss only one or none at all. But I think we have a pretty good chance of getting hired still. I hope you get called man. I can't imagine having to wait so long and then have to wait AGAIN for another list. I hope they don't take so long to establish this new list. Very well done man . Congrats on that ace! You never know, you might be with the first class or land in the second. I guess it all comes down to your last name or SSN? Not sure how that'll work. From what I've seen and heard, this test is definitely not worse than Sanitation. The entire effing planet took that test. I got 100 on it and was told to forget about it. I only missed 3 on this one so I bet the chances will be better. I think 95 or above would be a good guess.
  19. Haha! I'm guessing these were the ones with the super confusing "double answers", which I thought they would've had two correct choices on the key; I guess not.
  20. Alright, thanks let me edit that. Protest session is on the 12th for those of us who took the PM test on the 24th of April. Who knows how effective that might be...maybe they'll change 1 or 2 of those tricky ones. I'll be checking again after that date but for now, I guess I'm ok with 3 wrong. Did anyone on 24th PM session get 26, 61, and 74 wrong?
  21. Who knows. Protest session is on the 12th. Who knows how effective that might be...maybe they'll change 1 or 2 of those tricky ones. I'll be checking again after that date but for now, I guess I'm ok with 3 wrong.
  22. Crap. I got 3 wrong. Looks like it was those questions with "more than one answer". I wonder if they will change it.
