My list is the 42## range. I know this exam is set to expire 2024 I think in January, any info on if this exam may get an extension?

Also anyone in the 3900-4000 got an pre employment email yet?

    Thank you

100% this list gets extended, the list was established in 2020 but they didn’t start calling until 2021. 2025 Jan seems more likely the list will expire if anything.

I came here to ask these questions as well. I haven't seen anybody mention it here before it either. Only thing I know about it is that you'll be given a lot of paperwork to go over. Other than that I don't know. Somebody in has to know more.

You don’t have to bring anything. The will give you a bunch of paperwork and have a lot of different people speak to you guys. That’s about it. Just know your pass and BSC.

This question is not about the topic but would like some information for those that are current MTA employees.
I applied to a Track Worker position in Staten Island back in 2019. Now i login and see that the status change to Passed PreScreening. What’s the next step for an applicant after the pre screening? I haven’t received a letter or email about this position. TYIA

I have jobs that I applied to in 2013 that still say “passed prescreening”  and it’s 2022 if that helps.

Our class was the last to pick and we didn’t have any cleaning. It was E180 capital days.. the rest were maintenance nights like 14th, Times Square, Grand Central Shuttle, 149 Grand Concourse and so on. We go there after this week. The class that picks tomorrow, their seniority stops at 2099 and they have one maintenance day spot at West Farms and everything else looks like maintenance in Brooklyn mostly. The class that finished before us all got cleaning. Not sure about anything before that lol

Interesting, the sheet I saw looks like there’s 4 cleaning spots on it. I know one for sure cuz I spoke to the foreman of the gang.

I know the most recent class had non cleaning picks, supposedly the following class also will have non cleaning picks aswell.

Lasts sheet I saw for the last class  had a cleaning spot on it. I think it was mixed actually, maintience and cleaning spots.

Honestly, I have no idea. I’ve been trying to ask on here. But I guess nobody will really know. I’m hoping within the next couple of months. But I doubt it. Someone said on here that they are hiring till May. So have to just wait.

They have hired track workers since may of last year. When we got in they said they wanted to hire 200-250 new track workers and I think they are getting close to that number now.

Anyone who has been through early training already can let me know what kind of clothing they want or will per you wear day 4 etc?

The main important thing is your boots. Make sure you always have those on with the rest of of your PPE they give you. There’s no dress code really wear some dickies, jeans etc.

interesting. I'd say since I or (we) are going to training for track worker we would be wearing jeans. I assume you could wear those dickies uniform pants. Quite honestly after years of wearing them they are super comfortable and loose fitting as I like for work stuff. Not sure how they will hold up.

I do believe some titles wear a uniform of sorts.

Im currently looking at some work jackets, might just get a vest for the time being...since its march.

I work nights and I don’t use a jacket because when you work you sweat. I just use either a normal hoody or the thick wool dickies hoody if I know I’m going to a super cold spot. I know days are colder cuz you are on the structure but you have to wait til your second week to get an idea of where you are going.

    Hi,

I’m a current NYCT employee and I was think about switch Departments. I have some questions for any current track workers. How many people are assigned to a gang?  Is OT Mandatory or is it Voluntary? Are you force to work doubles (ex.If someone calls out)? Are there a lot of locations to pick from in Brooklyn?

Gang size depends , it can be 6-12ish or so ppl in a gang depending on the size. And most locations have multiple gangs that report there.

OT is not mandatory, unless it’s an emergency like storm watch or a train derails an hour or so before your shift ends. But for the most part you sign up for overtime. If someone calls out that’s not on you they won’t force you to work because of that.

Yes there are a lot of locations to choose from.

They said if a position is available,  we are eligible to pick. It does go by seniority so it isnt as easy as it sounds. I However there was already a mini pick that just passed and we don't expect to pick until the next big pick which is around September. I would expect to stay in your current position out of OJT until the next big pick.

    Ok thank you.

Does anyone remember discussing the top pay for this position? I looked back to the previous exam and it seems like it started at 20 and caped out at 29 per hour? Not sure where this leaves this title now and I believe the notice said 22 was the starting rate.

Currently I am in a seasonal role , My starting rate is similar and being that I have done a few seasons at this point its only a matter of time until full-time comes my way.

The title I am in pays about the same with other perks starting but I wanted to know about long term top pay with this title.

As of today, starting is 24.7710 and top pay is 35.3871.

You obviously made the main pick but for those who now get otj, do they have the juniors filling in for random gangs or do you stay with what you choose during the mini pick throughout the duration of when the main pick comes out? I want Bronx nights lol

I’m not exactly sure, there’s probably a few more ppl on this forum with more exp down here that can answer that question for you.

I would assume though during training when you do your x pick, you would prolly be stuck with w/e you pick for a while. I could be wrong though.

Can anyone tell me how long the training is? I was supposed to start training on Monday the 27th of Sept but I can’t make it. They said I can start on October 18th instead. I need to know what are the hours and where is the training and for how long if anyone knows. Trying to see if I can hold on to my job. Also, have they mentioned the likely shift after training ends? Just trying to plan my future. Thanks.

Training is 2 weeks in class 4 weeks in a yard. 2 week training in class room can be pms 3-11pm or Ams  8-4pm, depends on how they schedule it. The Yard training for 4 weeks is 8-4pm. You will be off sat/sun during the whole 6 weeks. Shift after training varies but for you will most likely be nights 10pm-6pm or 11pm-7pm in various  locations.

A lot of these types of questions have been answered a bunch of times in this forum already. When you get time just start from page 1 and read through everything. There’s a lot of great information in it.

If this list gets extended another 4 years to 2026, they can call people as far as the 6-7k... I spoke to someone who took the 2009 test and was hired in 2016-2017, his number was somewhere in the 6000s.

That was a much different time (recession) max this list will get extended is prolly 1 year. If that which I highly doubt. MTA makes a lot of money with these exams.

Yesterday was the orientation. It was a zoom online meeting. We went over all the things like pay, vacation, sick days, life insurance, retirement plans, safety, id's, etc etc. Today will be another orientation at 195 Montague Street. Then Wednesday starts the actual class.

    How many track workers?
