  1. And BTW, the eight R-160A's cited above are indeed the only ones back at ENY so far (9943-46 and 9959-62).
  2. Just got an R-32 fleet Update. As of September 7, there were only 34 left at ENY; 188 at 207 Street. Three trains fielded on this past Friday. By August 31 (don't know exactly when), these were moved to 207: 3430/3431, 3500/3501, 3550/3551, 3628/3669, 3646/3647, 3672/3673, 3708/3709, 3828/3829, 3856/3857, 3894/3895, 3900/3901. On or about September 4, these 10 followed: 3376/3377, 3396/3397, 3406/3407, 3426/3427, 3442/3443. Curiously, these were the "lowest" 10 then remaining at ENY, which may indicate more numerically tidy transfers until all are gone. At ENY as of September 7 were: 3454/3455, 3578/3579, 3650/3767, 3670/3671, 3698/3699, 3716/3717, 3736/3737, 3773/3773, 3774/3775, 3778/3779, 3780/3781, 3870/3871, 3886/3887, 3912/3913, 3938/3939.
  3. Not as a single pair but often times transfers are conducted as 4 or 6 car sets. Drop 2 where intended and return with the rest. I haven't yet come across anything to suggest other R-32 transfers have been made between ENY and 207, but will keep watching. Given the nominal nature of R-160 transfers, the 9900's shown are probably back at ENY as part of a larger group.
  4. At the risk of being "silly" (we have to document this somewhere), there might be some movement on R-62A front: Five cars from Livonia (42 St. ) were at Corona last week and have departed again. Escorted by old friends 1791-95 were 1940 and 1931 (cab ends) along with three singles, probably 1932, 1933, 1937. Sounds like a new 5-car coupled "link" in the offing for . Also, perhaps at last the start of long-awaited "upstairs, downstairs" series of moves (i.e. consolidation of former Corona and Livonia fleets). I'm also informed that R-62A's on are receiving (Westchester) green strips beneath the number boards in place of (Corona ) purple. Having a great summer! Too bad it's almost over.
  5. One 4-car link delivered now every other week for six weeks. We see a pattern here?
  6. August 10, 2018: 152 R-32 @ 207; 70 @ ENY.
  7. The 2012 plan was to formally unitize 1926-1965 as 5-car links for 6. Evidently that's too much work. (Somewhere, necessarily, down the road to formally rationalize the R-62A fleet?). Better question is if the EPO's will ever fully return? Maybe be rebuilt?
  8. True, if R-179 progress continues to be positive.
  9. These changes yield 144 R-32's now at 207 Street and 78 left at East New York.
  10. The end up to 2455 and also, 7661-5 is at 207 St from previous response given as parts car. OK, thanks. Also, the goes up to 6710 and the starts at 6711. I'm told that the consist sheets would dispute that, but haven't seen one in a while. The "break point" is supposed to be 6695 on and 6696 on , and has been for sometime (since 2013) unless there's been a transfer recently.

  12. The latest R-32 fleet audit is done. A 6-month update. As of June 22, 2018 there were 136 at 207 Street (, ) and 86 at East New York (, ). For those trying to keep track, this eliminates the "paper duplication" so prevalent in the R-32 fleet control process. (Opinion: Continuously confusing [even within DCE] because the numbers are neither continuous nor consecutive.) Car numbers available if interested.
  13. As of June 22 (last Friday) there were still 86 R-32's at ENY. Enough for 10 trains plus spares on . Plus all 50 MK R-42s.
  14. Were these 8 cars ever moved to 207? What about 3360/3361?
  15. A spot check during the PM rush on June 22, 2018 found at least a half dozen Phase I R-32's each on A (both branches) and C, along with seven sets of R-46s on C. R-32's on J and Z, four trains of MK R-42's on J, too. Nothing new here.
  16. So, when do the Broadway () R-62A's loaned to Westchester () for the last several years start heading home (or 207, or wherever)?
  17. No confirmation needed, they’re physically in service based on the conditions that the viaduct project is Complete. I wouldn't automatically assume that all 24 were just placed back on J and Z. They needed a thorough inspection after returning to ENY from isolation, so it appears there were no unusual circumstances. That's good news, for the time being...hardy beasts, indeed. Did anyone (besides me) notice the broken window sash on 4815 through the last few weeks of the shuttle?
  18. So 1942 and 1934 are the "end" cars, with full-width cabs installed?
  19. Has anyone confirmed that the Myrtle Shuttle R-42s have reentered J & Z service?
  20. I thought I had a note here somewhere that 3102-05 showed up or were en route on April 13, right after the delivery freeze was lifted?
  21. Totally agreed. And so would unfold the final chapter of the R-188 rollout. In 2012, the projected "final" assignments called for the unitization of 1926-1965 for use on , with 1901-1925 to be left as single units for assignment to and in Work Service. Don't know if that's still the end game, but of course would require a multitude of juggling to rationalize the fleet. Then there's this more recent idea about two tracks using longer consists on the shuttle, instead of three with the 10 cars its had since 1964, if not before that.
  22. Those 1800s on 1 (1826-30 and 1841-1900) were put there when displaced from 6 by the R-142As by 2002. The 1826-30 got left behind by its sisters as they fled to Corona in 2003.
  23. There's only enough single units to make up two 5-car match-ups at most, IF that's the case: 1954-1957-1958-1959-1960 (cab); 1924 (no LED)-1926-1934-1938-1942. Even so, 1954, 1942 and 1924 would all have to be modified as "end" cars (full-width cabs & WABCO brake valves at one end) to be moved to as are 1943-1944-1947-1948-1949. That would take a little time. But if this DOES happen, chances would favor a return of the cars on back to , and then those "lovely" Kawasaki R-62s could go back to . Being equipped as 4-Trippers, I don't think you'd see 1901-1905 matched up as such. The 1901-1910 group (less 1909) is needed for Work Service as shared with road use. Some may stay at Corona; the rest may be destined to Livonia and 239 ultimately.
