So when u guys got the results did the same letter tell u to come in for pre employment or was that a separate letter?

Depends. A lot of people got both together, but probably only because they were the first ones. But no, you don't get both together.

Happy to have this opportunity, but a bit turned off by how everything was handled in terms of notice. I was at my old job for a long time and I wa wonky able to have Friday to say goodbye and let them know it was my last day. Now they want us to have all these things. Again, glad I have the opportunity, but everything just feels so rushed.

I feel the same way. Love my job and respect the company. Hope I can give 2 weeks notice.

Hey guys so I just came from the OPA how soon will they give us the results? And if we failed does that mean it’s the end of the road for you? Lol I think I did ok. I was a bit nervous for the 2nd part :(

Yes if you failed, you're out. I'm sure you did fine. Took about 6 months to get results.

List number 51xx haven’t received an OPA invite.

But sombody with a 7 thousand list number gets invited in ? I don’t get it lol.

It doesn't look like the sent OPAs and preemployment in order. But don't worry too much about it yet, they definitely put people in classes by list number. I'm sure you'll get your OPA soon.

Hey! I’m new to the forum. I have a question. My list number is 77xx and I take my OPA this Sunday. I do have a misdemeanor from 10yrs ago. I was 19. Do I have to disclose that information? Will that hurt my chances with MTA?

When you get the packet they refer to as "homework" at the preemployment, the packet says you MUST disclose everything unless it is SEALED or EXPUNGED. Now, I personally did disclose a misdemeanor that I had from 6 years ago, even though it is sealed, because I would much rather play it safe and be honest about it, since they will not disqualify you over minor crimes (or even most major crimes). My advice: definitely tell them about the misdemeanor, and before you even go to the MTA for preemployment (assuming you get called), go to the criminal court where you had your case, and get disposition. When you disclose your misdemeanor, they will ask you for a disposition, and that's it, no harm done. Better to play it safe and be honest. Your chances will not be hurt at all because you have a misdemeanor from 10 years ago.

When I asked about hilding my list number until I move back to NY.

“The Employment Center calls applicants for processing as vacancies occur based on their list number.  Once they reach your list number, you will receive a letter in the mail with a date and time to report to the Employment Center. The list number is good for 4 years from the date it started.  List established 2/14/2018   Date exhausted 2/14/2022.  If you are called to the Employment Center for the pre-employment process, and you miss your appointment, you will have to have your name restored to the list.   Please keep in mind, you can only have your names restored if the list is active.  Once it is exhausted, it is no longer used for hiring.”

    Did you call?

That’s my assumption as well. My entire attitude with this process has been “I’ll hear from them when I hear from them”. Helped in keeping me centered while I wait for this career change.

Honestly, I don’t take the numbers thrown around on the forum too seriously. They’re a decent gauge, but I prefer seeing the posts from folks who have actually gotten into the class, or the ranges of people invite for PE/medical. I’m not expecting anything this week, but wouldn’t mind the surprise lol.

It's the "last appointed" number according to the DCAS automated system.

It’s very odd that you wouldn’t be called for June class with list numbers in the 500s. It 342 numbers to get the first class. Not sure but I would assume you guys could expect emails this week.

I thought the exact same thing. I just expected that if we were going to be in the June class, we would have had more time to give notice at work. Also, I'm guessing the "342" number includes those who are already in the June class (either didn't fit in the April class, got put on medical hold, etc). Again, just a guess.

Hey gang, been following this forum for the two years since the initial exam. Some good info here. I’m number 49X on the list and still haven’t received an email for medical. Just thought I’d throw that into the pool of info for everyone. Will keep the group posted. Take care

Hey thanks for the update. My guess is that the June 4 is filled already. I doubt they would call people less than a week before the class starts for medical. Would be messed up on their part (considering they tell people not to quit their present job until they have an official offer). On to the July class we go.

During my PE- which was Thursday—someone doing orientation mentioned that those of us there would be either in June or July class. I’m in the low 1300s. I’m assuming it’ll move quickly

Yeah the lady there (Emma Rivera) stated that most of us should be in June or July class.

I’m really discouraged at the moment seeing how fast this is moving in relation to my situation.

I’m still stuck in Florida until November when I graduate HVAC school. I’m #16xx and never received an OPA invite and even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to fly back to NY yet. My plan was to move back to NY by the time they reached 16xx but it seems they already passed me.

Why don't you call them and see if they could resend your OPA invite (which I'm sure they sent, you just probably didn't receive), then fly over here for 1 day just for the exam? Then once they reach your list number, just defer your preemployment until next year? But dude, definitely try to take that OPA, because I've never heard of someone deferring an OPA. Even if it means flying out here for just 1 day for the exam, try to make the sacrifice.

Do you by any chance happen to know the latest list number being called in for medicals?

No idea. I've been trying to figure it out myself as I'm still waiting for my medical. From what I can see in this forum, around 500, but that's just guessing.
