  1. Ok so the most important info is get there early, you want to be one of the first ones in the lobby so you can be the first one on the elevators so you can be the first one off to get a lower seating number, I had a low number and was out by 10am 730am test.

Next one of the test monitors came in and said that 37000 people took the test but not all will come in for the OPA, she said it would lead to tassels taking $25 from people that they don't expect to pass the test or make the list and not get called

Next the supervisor/manager said the OPA  is a completely different test that is pass/fail and if you pass it does not factor into your first exam score however fail and your gone

Next, my personal experience is I feel the first part was easy, however I thought the second part was hard,Of course I can speak and understand English but I feel as if you don't say exactly what they expect you to say, it might hurt you.

Any who in whoville that's my input!

  2. Well I'm here now showed up at 6:40am 6:55am now for a 7:30am appearance and they haven't even opened the building doors yet lol. Will get back to you guys about my thoughts and experience when I come out all broken on the other side (Just a gag I'm extremely confident!)

  3. It is a safety sensitive position so it is understandable, I'm surprised more positions don't test for alcohol. A few drinks here and there is understandable, but if you can't drink at all that would be very restrictive and I can see some employees or testers failing. My great uncle who was a conductor for the subway for quite some time use to drink heavily actually passed from liver failure. Lol just a perspective :P

    That is great news, congrats!!!!!

Just curious if the MTA employees who took the promotional exam to become conductors are still being called in along with the ones who took the open competitive exam # 8094?

8094 doesn't expire until Feb 2018 even though not as many people took it as 6601 I don't think they would be able to exhaust it before it expires

  6. My date is Oct 10th.  Its all by ear atm since my diabetes is not under controll, hasn't been for 6 months, working like hell to change it, so they could put me on medical hold. If they do and I get called for T/O and have my diabetes under control I might go for T/O while staying on hold for C/R, so if for some reason I do wash out, I'll still be on the C/R list. Lots of options

  7. Besides the obvious differences between A and B (numbers/letters), what is the difference in practice between being in one division vs. the other?

The rolling stock sets them apart aka the different type of rail cars, the A division currently has 5 different rail cars while the B has 10. You have to be trained to that specific division cause these rail cars do not cross divisions ex. an R143 is an B division set and can't platform on a A division station or even fit in the tunnel cause A divison cars and tunnels are more narrow and stations are not as long. They say you get on the road faster for A division then B

  8. I also took this test, the last one possible may 22nd in the pm, I got 78 out of 80 which puts me at a 97.5 hope its good enough. For those that want to know when the list is coming out just be patient. They will let you know but you shouldn't expect something until the beginning of next year at the earliest. So relax and just let it set it that you took the exam and your one step closer to a job you want!
