  1. When it comes to length, a 10 car R160 is the same length as an 8 car R46 meaning the stopping location on the platform is the same. I dont see how crews would just forget the length of the train they are operating.
  2. Just trying to set the record straight and curb speculation.
  3. But why not keep the extra R160s as spares? Its not like their needed at Jamaica because the is reduced. I dont get why the R46s are frequently shuffled between the and the but the R160s, which are the same length are exclusively for the .
  4. Sometimes people have insider information that isnt disclosed to the public. If that isnt the case here, just say so. For future reference, a yes or no would do. On a separate note, I have had this account for at least a year, I dont know who that Rigojefte guy is who keeps responding in a slurred and incoherent fashion.
  5. In Mid June there were 210 cars of R160s on the . I wonder why there are less now when service demand hasnt changed.
  6. 5 or 10 cars? How many R160s total are at Pitkin as loans, it feels like there have been less out lately.
  7. How exactly? Its not like the T/O needs it to see since its not in the cab.
  8. Perfect example of all bark no bite. Chains do nothing, stickers do nothing and those footprints in the stations do nothing. How about the MTA actually does something that will actually protect the workers. They should start by blacking out the RFW because then all the selfish and careless railfans would have no reason to enter the restricted area. A curtian or at the very least 2-3 chains per cab would also be sufficient.
  9. Or to make it more simple you can just slightly increase service to replace second avenue service and slighlty decrease service to match current Ditmars frequencies. Also trains should switch to the express track after 57 St instead of after 42 St.
  10. I would argue that sending trains up second avenue isnt necessary and is quite pointless. The provides adequate service and the should focus on serving Ditmars and that trip should either go to Forest Hills or be outright cancelled.
  11. I have noticed there have been less R160s on the this week. Maybe they are in the middle of transferring sets between Jamaica and Pitkin for inspections etc.
  12. is 94 cars or 11 trains. up to 8 are usually out at one time.
  13. Why does 4790 & 4791 still have the custom signs? Its been over 4 months since the final run.
  14. My bad. Sorry about that. Relay is when a train is preparing to enter the yard like after the short turn trips that terminate at Broadway Jct. They then relay to the middle track and enter the yard. A layup is where a train or trains are stored between runs or once the set is done with service for the day. Now I dont really get why anyone would think I would intentionally disregard parts of a response, in this case one with quite helpful and relevant information. Sometimes it can be an oversight.
  15. I wasnt aware of that but if thats the case, every car should have their cabs chained off. Its not like people should be walking between the cars anyway.
  16. Some cars were equipped with chains before they were transferred. They probably swapped pairs around when prepping them for service.
  17. He said that 2 trains were relayed at 111 St one of which was taken out of service due to the chain. Now we have three. Can 111 St even relay 3 trains and why were NTTs relayed after friday to prevent the use of the R32 on the weekend? As far as peak service, if 5/6 trains will be R32, then which am departures from Jamaica are put ins that could have R32.
  18. It really depends on how many R143s are available. On Thursday there were 3 on the for am peak. If those three are still available they will need only 5 sets assuming 10 R160s are available but if inspections are due which are likely since they have been out almost every day along with the R143 before the R32 came back, that could lead to extra R32s running. But really only time will tell.
  19. How many expected monday now that they are running off peak?
  20. What probably will happen come monday is that the will go full R32 which would require 6 sets and the will go full R160 which would require 12 sets. An occasional R143 may also appear on the . Now the reason they probably transferred 11 sets was because the R32 are known to break down more often because of their age. Also, trains seem to get vandalised alot at ENY which would require a set be taken out of service and considering there already is a fleet shortage, they wanted to increase their spare factor and have extra trains ready to enter service in the event something breaks down.
  21. Is this the same for the R32 at ENY. Will they have to go back to 207 for inspection and maintenance or can ENY do that?
  22. Looks like they are on track to making the full R32 since the sets run the only do one round trip. Other than that they may not need other R32s if they can keep 2-3 R143s.
  23. I was on the yesterday morning during peak and only saw 3 trains of R32s. When and where were the other two sets you speak of? There were only 3 trains of R143s on the which was probably coming out of the spare factor for the . Also how often does each set get an inspection?
