  1. by LGA N AirTrain, who should be posting here:

I think I mentioned something similar with the (brownM) running to Bensonhurst bay Pkwy, but with the abandonment of the DSC for that area, it's for naught.

Ummm... ok and my profile name is LGA Link N train, where did you get "AirTrain" from??

  2. Random thought, what if the (B) and/or (D) train replaced the (J) and (M) trains and the (T) and maybe a new (H) or (V) train ran to the manhattan bridge and replace the (J)(Z) south of Chambers Street (Note- that means expanding the Fulton Center and Broad Street Platforms) since R32's and R42's are banned from Montague, then in Brooklyn the (T) can replace the (D) the (V) can replace the (B) and a third second avenue train, maybe an (H) or (U) train, could run via Fulton Street via Montague Street or under 4 Avenue. The (M) could go back to Nassau, IDK

That's a lot for one weekend

  4. I believe that the remaining R32 (that won't be retired during the Canarsie Tube shutdown) will be transferred over to the A train.

So that they can go to the Rockaways, I'm supportive of that as for some R46's, I'd put them on the (C) and (G) lines during the shutdown

  5. Re-enable the last step of Field Shunting, and they don't have to go anywhere. That would make sense, so it will never happen.

Back to the C, unless they throw a curveball, and it's the B.

Wouldn't they all have to be 10 car sets if that happens

  6. Should have never neutered the SMEE's to begin with. Bring back field shunting already. Their performance would be right there with the NTT's. They were all quite peppy back then.

So where do the (140 or so) R32's go during the (L) train shutdown??

  7. As much as anyone here would love to agree with you, to renovate Chambers St would be more expensive than renovating any other subway station serving a single line in the system pretty much due to its size.

Funny and yet sad to think that this was one of the major masterpieces of the BMT really. While a renovation isn't guaranteed, ADA accessibility for the platforms is planned so that's something.

Yeah, but sooner or later, the (MTA) is going to have to deal with it

  8. The original plan for chrystie when built was to allow SAS, when built, to become "local" tracks at Grand St and converting the side platforms into island platforms. The section of SAS tunnel originally built by the Manhattan bridge was aligned for this. Is this possibly what you're asking about?

Sent from my LGLS755 using Tapatalk

    A better alignment

  9. Here's an important Question, why won't the MTA Renovate Chambers Street on the (J)(Z) train, it look DISGUSTING, HORRIBLE, OH AND DID I MENTION THAT IT IS ONE OF THE WORST STATIONS IN THE ENTIRE SYSTEM???? Despite the (J)(Z) having low ridership in Lower Manhattan, can they at least attempt to renovate chambers Street

  10. Nothing. They're redundant now.

And for whoever asked how we make the Nassau line more attractive, you'd have move offices to Lower Manhattan. Which, seeing as we're neither socialist nor Washington DC, won't happen.

Things change. Yeah it's sad that there's abandoned trackage, but such is the nature of progress. Deal.

Deal, however there could be suggestions to turn that into an underground park similar to the low line

  11. I've got a new PDF for the cycle between August 18th-24th, 2017 on OneDrive:

    https://1drv.ms/b/s!AlW-ZYlueHvEhNUtdWLRfDvJ0jf3OQ

Some service updates have strayed columns to accommodate the increasing numbers of updates per line. Some may have changes that apply to multiple lines. Look for the Also (*) for those kinds of details.

This morning, I had a weird commute to Manhattan, first (R) trains were running to Jamaica 179 Street yet people still got off at Forest Hills. Then at Forest Hills, I got on an (F) train that went via 53 St/8 Av. Once I got off at 42 Street, the (F) was on the express track. I was like "What the heck is going on, is this what I get for not checking the weekender???" But I gotta say, this was a very interesting service change, but Manhattan bound (R) trains should run to 63 Street since they're running express this weekend

Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk

Would like one of those weekends where the (R) is Queens Boulevard express, Broadway express, via Manhattan Bridge, and 4 Avenue express

The (R) this weekend is the Queens Blvd/59 Street/Broadway/Manhattan Bridge/4 Avenue Express in the Bay Ridge direction yet local on the Jamaica Bound direction

  12. Ummm... ok

Sent from my SM-G386T using Tapatalk

So leave the line as is and just rehabilitate Chambers Street Station????

But then if you were to make use of the Abandoned Bowery and Canal Sts, what would they be used for (and please don't say employee purposes)

  13. Why would you want to make service along Nassau Street more popular? With the exception of the rush hours there's no real reason to travel on that line. Anyone traveling along the 4th Avenue Line or Brighton corridor along the stretch from Prospect Park to DeKalb Avenue already has options to reach that area. Look back at the travel patterns since 1967 or the Mid-Eighties 'til 9/11. Outside of the rush hours there wasn't any clamor for service on the line. Even with the original WTC still standing. You seem to want to put those tracks to use but the potential ridership, today and in the past, say you're wasting your time and costing the (MTA) money. Carry on.

  14. There are a few reasons why this won't work.

    1) R32s and R42s are banned from Montague.

    2) Any line that goes to South Brooklyn would be subjected to the notoriously bottlenecked Dekalb Interlocking.

    3) Nassau is not popular with riders. Look at how empty the old "(M)" was between Chambers and Bay Pkwy.

    4) You need to send the "(J)" with the "(Z)" to keep the current skip-stop service.

    5) There aren't enough cars for it at the moment. It could only work after the 211's are in, but even so, why waste the money?

I want to look for a solution to make service more popular on the Nassau Street subway, and If R32's and R42's are banned from Montague then how can service be improved or more attractive in Nassau Street cause it has very low ridership? ???

And, might as well look for a way to rebuild the Dekalb Avenue Junction

  15. Here’s a crazy proposal that’ll never happen, but is an interesting thought nonetheless.

So, it’s no secret that the Nassau Line is considerably underused (has two abandoned tracks) and lacks is probably the most under maintained. Well, if Phase 3/4 gets going on the SAS, here is my proposal: Instead of terminating the (T) down in Hanover Square (which would only further reduce the number of Nassau passengers), you could combine it down a newly renovated Nassau Avenue Line.

Here’s what I suggest: Close the (J)(Z) on Nassau Avenue for 3-5 years, and completely renovate the line from top to bottom. It would be considerably less expensive, since all the structure is in place and there would be an extra incentive to renovate the Nassau Avenue Line (the extra passengers.)

While the Nassau Avenue Line is being renovated, you could combine the (C) and the (J), by running the (C) down through W4st, Christie St, and running the (J) route between Essex Avenue and Jamaica Center.

Then, when the Nassau Line is fully renovated, the Teal (J) will run down to the new Broad St with the (T). Far out there, but thoughts?

I might as well have the (J) terminate at Chambers and Have the (Z) (if it still exists at this time) run down to Broad St or further
