  1. Let's not return to beating a dead horse about the "Rockaway power problems". That was fixed years ago. And iirc, the whole thing about the 160 moving from the A to the N was mostly political.

Think about it people: They test these trains out in the Rockaways! The power was increased when they were building the test track.

    Oh, ok

  2. Absolutely not... The cost of that would be exorbitant meanwhile the eastern portion of Lower Manhattan still has no subway...

But what's the point, Nassau Street has REALLY low ridership and it would take years to build another east river tunnel so might as well have it go down Nassau then either connect Montague to the Transit museum then continue local to Euclid or have it supplement the (R) as another 4 Av local

  3. All r32's will be displaced from the A, C,J and Z once the r179's are delivered. All r32's will be retired after work is completed in the Canarsie Tube and L train service is completely restored.

So just put the 110 - 164 R32 cars should go on the (B) in the meantime

  4. If demand keeps expanding, the MTA might need to add more (N) and (R) trips there. All the more reason to hurry up with Phases 2 and 3, preferably at the same time so the (T) could open.

Phase 3 should be a trunk and Phase 2 should have a 3rd track, phase 4 should take over the Nassau Street line south of Cantham Square under Park Row

  5. Also if the Queensway begins construction, I will be so MAD! These stupid hipsters just gotta deal with it, I mean many peeps live along elevated lines and yet they don't complain??? And they only have to underpin LIRR to connect it with the branch and after that they only have to renovate it by evicting people who encroached upon it, clearing out the trees and fixing stations and trackage, which itself would be simple because the MTA has renovated many stations in the past.

I agree with you 100% , sadly my dad and his cousin are in it for Queensway and I gave them a bunch of reasons towards why Queensrail is better. Wierdly despite the fact that they support the Queensway, they agree with all of my reasons

  6. They wouldn't work at the same time. I clearly stated "before and after 2 Av and the Bushwick-Queens line opens".

The (M) would be the initial service to the Rockaways, but would be replaced by the (B) and 6 Av (H) AFTER 2 Av and the Bushwick-Queens line opens. And the (V) would run on 2 Av, not 6 Av.

Similar to Vanshnookenraggen's 2 Av plan????

  7. Yeah here's how I'd do it.

Before 2 Av and the Bushwick-Queens line is built:

    (G) returns to 71 Av to use up freed capacity and to placate community opposers that didn't want to the (G) to be cut back in 2001. This allows for more transfers along the QB line.

    (M) diverts down the Rockaway Branch to Rockaway Park, replacing the shuttle.

    (R) stays as-is, if the LGA extension for the (N) is built after Phase 3 of the SAS opens.

After 2 Av and the Bushwick-Queens line is built:

    (G) same as above.

A new (H) train runs via 6 Av, with a spur to the Rockaway Branch at 63 Dr-Rego Park.

The (M) would be replaced by the (B) on Myrtle and (H) on Queens Blvd, which frees up capacity on the 6 Av local.

The (R) would return to the Astoria Line if the (N) gets extended to LGA as this allows for a new yard on ConEd land, allowing the (N) to take its place as the QB local to 71 Av via 63 St. This reduces congestion in the 60 St Tube and not making the (N)(Q) interact with the (R)(W), because they would only interact with themselves.

A new SAS (V) runs from Hanover Sq to 179 St via 63 St and a new bypass, making local stops east of Forest Hills. This allows the (F) to skip stops the whole length of QB, as well as the reduced need for the (E) to stop at 75 Av/Briarwood-Van Wyck outside of late nights.

Well thought out, but I'm trying to understand how the (H)(M) and (V) would all work at the same time

  8. Wow. I didn't notice people were using the property to expand their homes. I didn't even see that. And good illustration of what you are talking g about. I didn't also know that they were squatting either.

Well, that's the reality of the Rockaway Beach Branch

  9. Speaking about rumors many people are commenting on one of the YouTube r179 videos that the 5 car r179 sets may run on the A,D,F and R.

I remember taking a ride home from school on the (J) and this MTA train operator told me that the R179 5 car sets are EXCLUSIVELY for the (A) because they tried to use R160's in the past

So if there are any left over R46's then I suggest putting them on the (C)

  10. They going have to do so much work on the those abandoned tracks. Would that put all those auto shops out of business though?

Maybe, or the business will face legal charges for squatting their properties on city owned land

  11. Is it too early to congratulate Alstom/Kawasaki on a successful bid? In all seriousness, I cannot say I'm surprised. We really cannot afford any delays on the 211 order, especially to the magnitude that we've seen with the 179's, as the existing fleet is showing its age.

Hey I said that Alstom and Kawasaki MIGHT build the R211, not that they will. But in my opinion, I think that they'll be awarded with the contract

  12. Breaking news: The Montreal Gazette is reporting that Bombardier has been disqualified from the R211 RFP. The Journal de Montreal obtained an internal memo from Bombardier themselves.

    http://montrealgazette.com/business/local-business/bombardier-shut-out-of-n-y-subway-contract-because-of-poor-performance-report

Then again, Alstom, Kawasaki, and (maybe) some other company might build the R211. Also for some reason, I felt like that Bombardier will be excluded from building the R211's, apparently my prediction was correct
