Hey Everyone I am new here and I am trying to get my foot in the MTA.

I  applied for Attendant Terminal Appearance, a few months ago .. like the ending of September.

I routinely check back on the website to see my status ; recently it said Passed Pre screening.

For those that currently hold the position, Does this mean they will call me back soon?

How long from the time you put in the application did you hear back from them?

And what would be the next steps WHEN I do hear back from them?

I really would like a opportunity to work for the MTA

Hopefully someone can answer my questions .

I got in as a attendant terminal appearance in October. The timeline was like this - applied in September/October, test was in November, Interview was in March, PAT test and Drug test in September, was given a start day not long after that. The whole process could take a year.

    Good morning to all.

I hope I am writing this topic on the right page.

I was told that at my age (52) the lirr do not hire reason why I wouldn't have time to built my retirement up to 62 yrs old.

    Is that true?

    Thank you I n advanced.

    Max.

I don't think that's true, I was just hired at Metro North and another guy that is 55 was hired with me. It takes 10 years to qualify for a pension over here at MNRR.

So I called the number and spoke to someone who worked for the MTA. He said that Metro North doesnt tell people if they're still being considered for employment or the status of their application. They also wont inform anyone if they decide not to hire.

He said the process takes awhile so who knows. I've heard of people waiting 6 months to a year and heard some people get hired right after interviews.

Guess we just gotta wait it out. I wish they would inform us if they aren't going to move forward with our applications so I can stop thinking about when they will email or call lmao.

Do you know metro north's contact number for recruiters? I tried looking into it but had no luck.

I think it's the MTA business service center I'm sure there's an option when you call that number.

Damn, it's been almost 5 months since my interview. Has anyone applied for any other positions like assistant conductor trainee? I've applied to at least 20 different jobs and only got called to test and interview for one.

Have you tried calling and asking if your still being considered for the position maybe you can talk to the recruiter.

Would we be notified if we passed the interview or would it be in our application section of our MTA account? I see it says I passed pre-screening for a few of the jobs I applied for.

I don't think so. I believe you'll just get an email scheduling you for a drug test and medical but I'm not 100%.
