I think you might be the last interview. After that then the medical I believe.

Just finished the interview I think it went pretty good, answered all the questions one of the men even said "that's a good answer" to one of the questions I answered. Now we just wait and see what happens.

Good luck. They did the same time frame for me. I don't think anyone will be called in for the medical until all interviews for those who made it are conducted and over with.

Yeah that's what I'm guessing also.

When is it? I wonder if everyone who tested and passed will be hired. I'm sure we are the last class before they hire more. I haven't seen this job open up at all. Let's be grateful if we both get it. I already am grateful for how far I have made it already. Glad to hear you got your e-mail. We might be hired at the same time if we are both hired.

They scheduled it almost 2 weeks away. I'm happy I got this far let's see what happens next.

Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed. I won't disclose the main point's for my own possible job security. It was very in depth, like I said before they don't want just anybody. The interview will make you realize the kind of job you signed up for and how serious the MTA actually is, more than one would expect even for a cleaner. Like I said, they want the best of the best it seems and certain correct response's. Put it this way it's not your average factory, trades, union, or tech firm interview. It was the most professional interview I have ever sat in. On a side note having any of those other one's listed in your past for an interview will help as they asked a few similar questions.  They also send you an interview preparation attachment with the interview confirmation e-mail, which definitely helps but still is a challenge when you finally get there. I'm not saying this to intimidate anybody, but it's just my opinion based on my own experience. Good luck again.

I finally got an email today and have my interview scheduled. Let's see what happens, I hope we get in.

I think it went well tbh with you. I was a little anxious being this will be the best career I've ever had if I get it, they could see it but also confident. Also, did you get an email yet?

Not yet, hope I get one sooner or later. Hopefully they call you back for the medical and stuff.

Thank you frank. I hope you get a call for the test and physical really soon. It's a long road getting into a big place like the MTA. Keep your head high, work hard, and hope for the best. We all made it this far, let's go further.

Tell us how it goes and what kind of questions they ask.

Thanks you 2. I don't think the hiring freeze applies to us in that case. I think it applies NOW, have you seen the careers site lately? Barely anything except for professional college degree jobs.

Yeah nothing on there for a while now.

Yeah I did. That one was completed when I was on the same vendors website to do this one, no confirmation e-mail at all for it. Have you heard any news regarding that position?

Nothing yet probably has something to do with the hiring freeze. Guess we have to wait till Spring time.

Successfully passed this test. Now i'm on to the background check. How long does it take? Will I get a notification of it being complete? If anyone know's the answer's please let me know, in the meantime I will continue to post here until the process is complete whether I am hired or not that way anyone in the future can prepare themselves for what's ahead.

Did you do a background for the terminal Appearance attendant it's probably the same thing.

    That is my question too.

    No idea.

Looks like some of them want to hire a new guy.

Then the management rejects this because of some reason.

Is there anybody who could answer my question?

How long could the hiring freeze take?

    Thank for any answer.

When did you take the test?

  11. 10 minutes ago, Begi said:

They didn't tell me about the freeze.

The recruiter told me that they cannot offer the job anymore.

But I googled and found out that the board members and our governor decided for a fair hike and MTA restructuring.

    It was mid December.

I also see that job postings at MTA website went down.

But my situation is different than yours.

So if I were in your shoes I would still go to the medical.

    Good luck.

When did you take the test?

I applied for a Metro North custodian position and I made it all the way to the drug and physical test (and passed). But then I found out that there is a hiring freeze going on now.

I just have a few questions, and if anyone could answer with anything I would greatly appreciate it.

    1. How often do these freezes happen?

    2. How long do they usually last?

    3. Will I have to go through the hiring steps again after the freeze or will it pick up where it left off?

    4. Can I apply for other departments or is it a freeze for all departments?

    5. What is the turn over for current custodians?

Thanks again everyone.      (Just joined so im sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread)

Was the position for grand Central terminal?

Patience, it's all we need. I have experience with big places like this and their hiring process and it does take time. I wish you good luck as well. I spoke to one guy in there who was pretty loud saying his buddy was a cleaner in poughkeepsie, his advice to him was study a lysol can but I feel like you didn't even need to do that lol. Sounded like a good job the way he described it.

Yeah definitely not lmao, maybe we'll end up working together, I'll keep posting here if I hear something.

  14. 13 minutes ago, CrazyD said:

there was 18 of us all together. I didnt have any notifications so im assuming my background check is done as well. Via another thread take a look there. There may be a hiring freeze. I also have testing for another position as well. After hearing that there may be a freeze, i'm definitely going to keep trying until my foot is finally in the door.

Hope they start calling soon. Would love to get in.

  15. 1 hour ago, CrazyD said:

No I did not. I was also in the back on the left side. Background check still going theough I guess.

Yeah my background check is completed. I think they aren't going to hire anyone until after the holidays. I wonder how many they want to hire for the position, not that many people took the test.
