  1. True. However, any chance you can get, you endlessly harp on the fact there should be more R179s and the R32/42s need to leave. Do they have the lowest MDBF of the fleet? Yes. Should they be retired? Yes. Can MTA retire them right now without making the fleet shortage less problematic? No. So they are here to stay, probably until the R211s come in. Wanting the R32/42s to leave any sooner will cause more problems than it will solve. I think, I'm not sure, the train sets are separated after they pass Burn-in and run in service for a few days is the reduce the usage of the cars until the entire fleet has arrived and is accepted by the MTA. Each delivery of a 4-car set happens every 2 weeks or so, all that can be said is to be patient and wait. (Unless you want to camp at 207th until all the cars are delivered /s)
  2. Here is my video of the first train arriving at the re-opened Cortlandt Station. Besides all the yelling, it was a mostly calm event. Enjoy!!!
  3. It will have the same path to revenue service all of the current cars at ENY have gone through. Testing in the Rockaways, then Burn-in testing, then 30-day revenue testing.
  4. So then why does the A, C, J/Z still run the R32s, since they are not reliable? (rhetorical question) Once you give it enough thought, there will be enough 8-car trains (whenever the R179 8-cars are all delivered) to have a sizable surplus for either the G or the C. The C is going to have R46s as it is going to be 600', so its out of the running for the surplus, so the G will get them, most likely permanently. No need for the R32s to be at Coney.
  5. Learned something new today, that there are 3 test sets, 2 8-car sets and 1 10-car set. Thanks Speaking of which here is a video of this set running as a
  6. Besides the 120 cars that are planned to be built, no. Unless something was extremely wrong with 3015-3019 that couldn't be solved, then it would be rebuilt. I wouldn't be surprised if the 10-car 179s would have 3020-3029 be the one to do the 30 day revenue testing while the issues are solved on 3010-3019, the same way 3058-3065 did 30 day testing on the J while the issues were solved on 3050-3057.
