  1. Hey everyone, just a quick update. I’m going in for final processing tomorrow. If all goes well I will be in the 2/17 class. A little nervous about the background check only because I have one previous job that was off the books. I was there for over 6 months (delivery driver). I wrote in my booklet that it was off the books too because I know they won’t find it with SS#. But I know the city generally doesn’t look too kindly on off the books jobs, and I already included it in the preemployment packet.
  2. Maybe she meant 1219? I spoke with Ms. Watson on Wednesday, and she said they were currently up to 1218. With that being said, the class date of 2/3 is definitely accurate because she also said that. I didn’t know about 2/17 though. That’s great if they keep it up at that pace for the next couple of months.
  3. I don’t think that list number could be accurate, only because I was there a week ago for the drug test and never got an email to come back. And I’m 100% positive that my drug test is clean lol. For reference, I’m 127*.
  4. I’m referring to the packet with the employment history and school history, etc. the one you fill out to bring in with your diploma, SS card, etc. The other, larger packet I still have from the last time. That is the one you receive in the brown envelope, which is the one I think you’re referring to. I filled it out already so luckily all I’ll have to do now is copy it onto the new one. That makes me happy. I’m assuming within the next two classes. I know I’m passing a drug test, and I’ve only ever been arrested one time, which was a DAT that got ACD’d. So besides grabbing that disposition from the court house, I think I should be good to go. I’ll keep everyone posted.
  5. List number is 127*. They were last up to 1214. And I’m going in for this Friday, though I haven’t received the packet yet which sucks lol. Filling it out there would not be ideal.
  6. I got the same message. Have to report Friday. Looks like the prediction about immediately following the holidays was correct!
  7. Nothing. I haven’t bothered calling because I had a feeling there wouldn’t be any classes until Q1 2020. Since I’ve heard/received nothing, and year 2 out of 4 is about to begin for this list, I think the feeling was on the money. Happy Holidays and be patient anyone who’s still looking here. Shouldn’t be too much longer for the ball to get rolling. My dad is a retired train operator and he says the holidays are always slow for new hires.
  8. I just called a minute ago. They are still up to 1216, no current vacancies at the moment. So no classes scheduled as of this time. Mrs. Watson didn’t say this, but I imagine there will be more vacancies coming by early next year. So by then, I believe it will start up again
  9. I called a few days ago and they are up to 1216 for final processing. I imagine there will be a couple of more classes before year’s end. i imagine that bodes well for anyone else like me who’s in the next 100 list numbers.
  10. Does anyone know if they have any more scheduled classes coming up?
  11. I wouldn’t worry guys. I haven’t heard back either and mine expired in April. It’s probably just not cost-efficient for them to schedule more drug tests until they know they’re about to schedule more classes. I’m sure that’ll happen by the end of the year.
  12. No one need panic about this. There will surely be more vacancies in the 3 and a half year period that the list will be current for. I wouldn’t worry too much about this - it might take the rest of the year but they’ll start calling again. There’s no way there will be 0 vacancies for that long. People retire every year.
  13. Has anyone been able to get through to Mrs. Watson? My attempts to call the last week and half, there’s never any answer. Maybe she’s on vacation?
  14. I’ve been trying to reach Ms. Watson for the last couple of days because I’m not sure how this goes: I was in for PE on 1/24, and 4/24 will make 90 days. Regardless of whether they’re calling off the list at the current time, don’t I need to submit another sample in that time frame? It’s 2 weeks away. I’m assuming she’s on vacation or something this week because I haven’t been able to reach her.
  15. As of right now there aren’t any new classes scheduled for Station Agent. Mrs. Watson informed me that she doesn’t know when and if new ones will be scheduled because the department relays that information to her. And then HR will subsequently call in more people from the list for new drug tests past the 30 day mark and then final processing shortly after. So as of right now, there aren’t more classes scheduled but that doesn’t mean there won’t be soon enough. She was purposely vague as usual, but I suspect there might be a short pause for a month or two. I’m speculating based on my experience with MTA hiring process so they don’t take that as fact guys.
  16. I’ll call tomorrow to try and see if they’re done scheduling classes for now. If I remember right they paused for a week or so when they got into the 500s or 700s. I can’t remember.
  17. I called today and they’re still up to 1138. Hopefully it will keep moving for the next couple of months at least.
  18. I just called yesterday afternoon but forgot to post. They are up to 952 for final processing as of 3/15.
  19. Chris was high 800s yesterday, but the last confirmed one when I called on Monday is 832. If Chris is high 800s I’m assuming they’ll hit the 900s for the 4/22 class. You can call them if you’d like the exact number. (347) 643-8210
  20. hmc is right then. They may have mixed up your email. Try to call them tmrw. Did you have any large gaps in employment or anything else they’d have an issue with maybe?
  21. I’m assuming maybe in this particular batch of people it’s not often that they’re finding people with a 4 year gap in employment? I’m not sure if that’s what the issue would be in your case, but from what I’ve read they don’t even bother inviting you for final processing if they use the 1 in 3 rule for your application. I can’t imagine why they’d have you come again for the permanent position process if it was a problem for them during the provisional process as well. That’s ridiculous.
  22. You’re right. I forgot about that. It’s a little silly that they’d even use that rule to weed out people the first few months of hiring, considering they have about 2600 more people to run through before the list is completely gone through. Edit: I read up on this. Apparently your employment history can be used against you, especially if you’ve previously been with the MTA and were fired. I’m assuming they will take other things into consideration such as how many times you were fired from previous employments, education history etc in the case that you are “considered” and ultimately “not selected”. Basically, if it’s between you and two others for that particular position to fill, only one of you will be selected. And in some cases, you can have a better list number but if your credentials or history are at all lacking compared to someone slightly below you, they may opt to move further with that candidate instead. The only way you will be removed from the list, however, is if this happens to you 3 different times. In other words, if you’re not selected when being one of three eligible for 3 consecutive positions. Even then, you can request to be restored to the list. This happens before background checks are even done, so besides your exam score I am assuming the pre-employment packet is the only thing being used in consideration here.
