  1. You’re right. I forgot about that. It’s a little silly that they’d even use that rule to weed out people the first few months of hiring, considering they have about 2600 more people to run through before the list is completely gone through.
  2. That’s odd. Under what criteria would they not offer the position to someone? Or do you mean, people who they never bothered to send a pre-employment invitation to? There are no other requirements beyond passing the drug screening once you’re called in...
  3. As in they wanna get as many no shows and drug test failures outta the way sooner rather than later. Why rely on people further down the list that won’t even show up when you can see for yourself now? Also see if they’re gonna pass a drug screening or not. It makes sense I guess.
  4. I think anyone who posts on this forum regularly clearly wants it bad enough. I’ve been to 180 Livingston about 5 times in the last 6 months so I’m completely fine with going 2 more times if necessary to get the job. It might be harsh to say, but the more people that aren’t showing up or didn’t bother to update their addresses, the better for everyone else. Passing a drug screening and being forthcoming about your employment history aren’t terribly difficult to achieve... the less people that decide to become a part of the process, the more likely we get called sooner.
  5. This. I’m also guessing having people come in for multiple drug tests helps them to get rid of even more prospective people. Some I imagine won’t want to be bothered coming in a second time, others may fail a subsequent drug test even if they passed the first.
  6. I’m assuming they’re rushing through the list to A) get rid of some people that don’t show up or fail to respond, B) get rid of people who fail the drug test. I can’t say how many people aren’t getting their letters, but they clearly have enough people showing up and passing considering they were up to 516 the last time I called... and assuming you called recently, they’re still up to 516.
  7. There’s only so many people they can put in each monthly class for station agent, but for whatever reason they’re trying to make the pool of people called for final processing as small as possible by sending the majority of individuals on the list for their drug tests now rather than later. I guess it just makes it easier for them to exhaust the list that way.
  8. You should have gotten one by now. Call the number I posted earlier in the thread tomorrow morning after 10am. That’s when she usually answers. Your drug screening invitation definitely got lost in the mail.
  9. (347) 643-8210 is the number. I just called. They’re up to 518 for final processing.
  10. Hey guys I just called. They’re up to list number 516 at the moment for final processing, and the next class is on February 11th. That’s only a few weeks away so I’m assuming any of us that have gone in for pre-employment in the last week or two might be waiting for the March class at the minimum.
  11. This is huge if true. Could that many people’s letters have been lost in the mail?
  12. Went today for pre-employment and somehow managed to get out of there at 10:30am. Nuts. They of course gave the same old 3-90 day routine when leaving but I don’t think it’ll take very long this time around. If there was a 1/14 class that means one should be coming up in early February as well. I wish they gave us that information...
  13. I went for the provisional and they did the hiring freeze 14 numbers before mine so I know exactly what you’re talking about. How I’m in the 1200s this time around and got called to come into tmrw for permanent with that high of a number doesn’t make sense to me. That being said I don’t think going back and forth talking down to each other is really helping anyone or anything, not that it’s just you. Tbh guys I was in line for train operator but failed the medical because I’m slightly color deficient so I know all about the ups and downs and how frustrating this process can be. However, I highly doubt they’re wasting time and money calling people in to get drug tested for no reason. You waited 6 months, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be the same this time around. When I got called for the permanent TO position, I waited 5 business days to have to go in for final processing. I was told then as well that they invite many at once because there is in fact a high rate of no-shows, failed drug screenings, and people who when fingerprinted come up with issues. I wouldn’t say what happened with you for the provisional hire is the absolute standard of how this shakes out.
  14. Got my letter Friday to go in Thursday 1/24 for pre-employment and my list number is in the 1,200s. They’re moving pretty fast with this list guys. Good luck to everyone!
  15. Awesome, thanks for getting back dude. I’m 127* and they only started 3-4 weeks ago so I like how fast they’re moving through the list. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine. No medical unlike most other positions, so as long as you’re honest on the booklet about your work history you’ll be good to go!
  16. Anyone have any incling as to what list number they’re up to at this point?
  17. I think even if that’s the immediate amount that they need to fill permanently, that number will most likely change as the year goes on. I think anyone in the top half of this extremely short list probably has a good chance to get called. Just how long it’s going to take to get called is the question at this point
  18. Exactly. I saw where he is talking about the number of vacancies, but it also says the list expires in 1/2019 on the same chart so that is clearly not correct I can confirm the same odd thing happened to me with the list number. I was 356 on provisional, and am now 1,2** on the permanent certified list. I did the pre-employment drug test back on 7/19. Unfortunately for me, they stopped at 342 for the provisional so I just missed the cut there. I thought I was golden once the list was certified (I was called provisionally and then permanently for other positions and my list number only went up by 50-100 numbers.) This jump is much more drastic. Not sure why?
  19. I don’t know why they wouldn’t call in order. That was definitely the case for both the train operator and bus operator lists that I was on. As for the vacancies, hopefully that’s just in the immediate future otherwise I don’t see the point in certifying a list with a little over 3,000 people to fill a little under 400 positions.
  20. Has anyone been called off this official list yet? I was 356 on provisional but 1,2** on this list
  21. This is for consideration to be placed into the 11/26 class by the way. I forgot to mention in my last post, sorry guys
  22. Got the email to go in for medical this Thursday 11/15. My list number is 44*. Good luck to everyone who’s still waiting. I’m below 35 BMI by a bit, definitely don’t have high blood pressure. Still, I get worried that something will come up. I hope I’m wrong lol
